I signed up for Teachers Test Prep ready to conquer the Multiple Subject CSET exams like a brave educational gladiator. I sharpened my pencils, brewed some coffee, and prepared to dive into the sea of knowledge. Instead, I found myself caught in a high-speed PowerPoint tsunami captained by someone who seemed less like a teacher and more like a caffeinated NASCAR driver on a mission to finish her slides before lunch. I've been through undergrad, grad school, even Coast Guard Captain's school -- I've learned how to navigate storms, both literal and academic -- but nothing prepared me for this. This wasn't a class; it was a pedagogical purge. Let's talk about the math section. Now, math has never been my strong suit -- which is why I was here. But this teacher flew through the material so fast, I wasn't sure if I was in a classroom or watching the math portion of Jeopardy! on 3x speed. I was trying to take notes, truly! But by the time I wrote one sentence, she was already three slides ahead and possibly in a different time zone. At no point did she ask, "Any questions?" Not once. Which, fun fact, is kind of a cornerstone of actual teaching. When I politely raised my virtual hand to ask what a term meant, she said -- and I quote -- "Just look it up." Moments later, when I shared I was feeling completely lost, she hit me with the inspiring words: "Just try to keep up." Ma'am, I was trying. I was trying harder than a cat in a bathtub. But at some point, even I had to admit that the only learning happening here was the realization that this was a very expensive way to feel dumb. In the end, I had to leave the class. Not because I gave up, but because the teacher seemed to have already given up before she even logged in. Final thoughts? I highly recommend Teachers Test Prep... reconsider what the word "teacher" means. Maybe swap it out with "Slide Presenter Who Can Break the Sound Barrier." Could be more accurate. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY! I purchased the CPACE course, and it was so poor that I had to buy another program to get what I needed. The Teachers Prep course materials are presented by an "instructor" reading a PowerPoint with information that can all be found for free on the internet. While there are two practice tests with feedback videos ONLY for the multiple-choice questions, there are no interactive activities or additional practice questions embedded in the course. After purchasing another program from EVO Prep, I learned more valuable information in an hour than I did with weeks of study on Teachers Test Prep. read more

To start off... This company is pretty much the only in-person test prep being offered in California. There isn't much competition, so I would admit that, if I had to do it all over again, I would, but because I just needed something. I took the weekend 2 day class for the CSET in history. It's a TON of info to cover in a weekend, so know that you aren't getting full instruction on any of the topics covered in the test. If you haven't been studying at all before this, you'll still need a good few weeks of studying hard to pass any test. The instructor did a very good job of going over everything that would be on the test. After the first day, I walked out with a solid understanding of everything I now knew that I didn't know. I went home and filled my video streaming queues with every documentary I could find on the topics I knew I didn't know. If you go into it prepared to just make a list of what to study... You'll get what you expect. The teacher went off on tangents sometimes, which was irritating, because this isn't high school -- we paid to be there. Impart knowledge. The curriculum is literally 16 hours of talking along with power points that break every rule of effective digital media. Painful to look at. The whole "You get access to them for three months" thing is worthless because there isn't enough information to study from. You need Crash Course History You Tube videos and stuff too. The instructors integrate no videos. There also were no tips for how to study or good resources other than their website. The fact that you have to pay for the additional practice test is b.s. Nothing helped me as much as practice tests... But I ended up having to buy more off Amazon. Their online package prices are ridiculous. Let me just buy the freakingn practice test. Or after I pay $400 for your class... Just give me some to study at home. That said.... After the class, I took all three tests over the course of 10 weeks with a ton of studying in between (like probably 50 - 100 hours), and I passed all three with high scores on the first try. read more

I took the History and English class in Sacramento with Todd. He has a vast amount of knowledge on the subjects presented and is very helpful in preparing you to understand what you need to study to pass the tests. I took the CSET 3 three times prior to taking a course with Todd and failed but after the class with Todd I was able to succeed in passing that section of the test. I decided to be more proactive this time and take Todd' class before attempting the CSET 1 test. I am confident the class is going to be a huge help in preparing me to pass the test. The one side bar note I have to say, dress in layers! The classroom I had for the first class was freezing cold and this classroom kept getting hot. Todd continually polled the class to determine if he should turn on the air conditioner and tried his best to keep everyone comfortable, but you can not please everybody so do yourself a favor and wear layers to help yourself be as comfortable as possible. read more

For the Social Studies CSET I wouldn't recommend taking the course in the Bay Area, the content covered on the exam was not presented in the class. In fact they presented a bunch of information that was not on the exam and did not update CA economics and was presenting info from 2006 or earlier. Like Ralph Nader/ Gore and CA is now 5th largest economy in the world. Which the course got wrong?? Lazy. I'm not a History Major and if you were you probably don't need the course, if you have a good timeline in your head of ancient history to present time. After I took the exam and failed, I taught myself at home and aced the exam. What worked for me.. AP History/ Social Studies Barron's book is a must! It gives you targeted information in a clear and concise way. (Actual pictures from the text are on the exam) If you slow down and think about it.. CA students highest level is AP nothing more, so study AP targeted info. I found Barron's to be more helpful than even the CSET prep books. Hip Hughes Social Studies Youtube videos, Clear concise information covered on the exam, presented in an engaging way. ACDC Economics Youtube videos. I purchased test preparation materials for the Praxis test. I found that the videos within the module could not be downloaded and could not be played at any higher speed, such as YouTube videos can. I inquired about this and was promptly told that neither was possible. Without prompting, I was offered a refund, which I took them up on. This is excellent customer service. Over the past 3 months I purchased study material for the CBEST and multiple subject CSET. The CBEST was fine because a lot of the knowledge necessary was from common sense and I passed with no problems. For the CSET ( I took each sub test individually) I got back my results from sub tests 1 and 2 and I got a score of 218 on both tests when I needed a 220 to pass. I'm waiting for my score for sub test 3 and I'm hoping I passed, but it will mainly be from my knowledge as a personal trainer, not necessarily from the study material I purchased. I failed sub tests 1&2 but believe me, it wasn't because I wasn't prepared. I studied the material from the online teacher (Robert Duncan) as good as I possibly could. Took thorough notes and took all the necessary practice tests and made sure I memorized as much as I could for someone who's been away from school for 12 years. I felt very prepared and confident going into the tests. When I finally took the tests, boy was I surprised. Almost everything I studied was not on the tests! Out of the 200 different multiple choice questions from practice tests, I would say about 5-10 questions were on the actual test. The short answer questions were even worse. I had questions that had nothing to do with what I studied. Coming from someone who spent hundreds of dollars on study material, I am not happy that I couldn't pass with the study materials I purchased. I have two suggestions for this company: 1. Have your smart employees take the tests every 3-6 months so you are up to date with the material that is on the actual tests, and put that material in the study material. 2. I suggest that I can take as many practice tests as possible with different question combinations instead of being limited to 1 or 2 tests with the same questions ( I'm almost positive I would have passed if I had more questions in a practice test). Another reason I am not happy is each re take for each sub test costs $100 and it takes 4-6 weeks just to find out your results and another 4-6 weeks just to reschedule the tests (are you kidding me!?!?)! The system is broken and unfortunately the study material I purchased couldn't help me pass on the first try. In the end I will have spent well over $1000 for tests and study material for the CBEST and CSETs. Coming from someone who is trying to be an elementary school teacher on a small salary....not happy. read more

I used Teachers Test Prep before I took all three CSET exams and passed on the first try! I spent a weekend in Sacramento taking the classes and took the test the following week. Using Teachers Test Prep videos, I passed the CSET Multiple subject tests (all 3 of them!) on the first try. I watched all their videos and made flashcards while watching, pausing when I needed to catch up, and then used their interactive tests once I had studied my flashcards a bit. The video explanations of the practice test questions are invaluable because someone actually explains how you arrive at the correct answer. I could return to the videos and often had them on in the background while cooking, etc. to let more information sink in. I'm now currently using the videos for the RICA...fingers crossed I pass this one as well, but so far, the level of instruction is unmatched. I used teachers teat prep to help me with raise the score for cbest writing exam . I purchased the golden Apple test prep because incase I fail , I would get a refund . The tutors and the people that review my writing said I am in range of passing the exam. However , I failed the writing exam and they will not give a refund . The one on one tutoring service is terrible because the tutors review your paper for 10 minutes and then tutor reads you a PowerPoint that is already on YouTube . I would recommend avoiding this program if you want to pass your exam and invest into a cbest test prep books. read more

I took the cset subtest 2 class; math and science. this 9 hour class was way too short to learn anything and there was no time for the teacher to answer the many questions participants had. It was a waste of time and money. The teacher was great but teachers test prep focuses on getting people in and out at the least amount of expense to TTP. Many community colleges are now teaching this course for free in a four day format so students actually benefit from their time there, and their money spent read more

Do not take for CSET Social Science. Material on the test was not covered by the course, and the material on the course is not covered by the test. I have yet to receive my score on Subtest 1, but I may have a chance to pass simply due to Brain pop and other Youtube videos that my curiosity had lead. For now, I'm going to use Barron's AP History study materials, along with ACDC youtube videos, to help me pass the rest of the tests. read more

Without Teachers Test Prep I wouldn't have passed CSET Multiple Subjects Subtest I & III. Due to Covid my Subtest II exam (I believe this to be the most difficult of the 3) was postponed multiple times. When I did finally take it, I didn't pass. Teachers Test Prep renewed my paid courses for 6 months. I will add that, I don't feel the Live Zoom session prep class was helpful, but these are strange times. I purchased the middle level test prep for the CPACE Content Test. I recently took the test in June. I felt quite prepared for the test, but was still uncertain as I finished. I knew I spent the necessary time studying and preparing. I received my results today and I passed. I know for certain that I wouldn't have passed had I not purchased the package and kept on my studying. I am so glad that I made use of the videos, written feedback, and advanced diagnostics. Two things stand out to me. One is the detailed explanation of each multiple choice question. Paying attention to key words in the question and using that as a strategy helped to eliminate answer choices and made me really get a better feel for what the question was asking. The second thing is the written response feedback. I chose to get feedback on both practice tests and I'm glad I did. The feedback helped me realize that paying attention to the prompt, answering each component, and ensuring not to give additional information was important. I kept that in the back of my mind during that portion of the test and scored quite well. There is no doubt in my mind that those features were a key factor in my passing. I also purchased the Math CSET III and feel confident that my study habits along with the materials will prepare me for the exam in August. When I first decided to take these tests I was a bit apprehensive in spending extra money for the program, but I must say that it was money well spent. read more

I have used this program for all three CSET's. I did not take all three CSET's at the same time because I wanted to pace myself. This program helped me pass every one of them. I don't understand why people are complaining about this program. This program goes over way more material then the free outdated stuff you get from the CTCEXAMS website. I passed it, it helped me, so I'm giving it five stars. I didn't pass on the first try when using this program like other people claim they did, and then all of you get mad because you didn't pass on the first try. Well how much effort did you put into it? Did you just watch the videos and think you were going to pass? Did you watch all the videos, all the way through from start to finish taking notes? Did you go back to the beginning, and watch the videos all the way through again with the captions on? Did you watch all the videos again a third time through making flashcards? Well I did, and I lost many nights sleep doing it this way. I know those of you who did not pass, did not put in the same amount of effort I did. You guys are using this program because you are going to be teachers right, but you still don't know that everyone learns differently from one another? Come on man, stop complaining like little kids just because you paid good money, half assed studied, and failed. Sometimes it takes two tries, sometimes it takes three tries, or more but come on man, if anyone should know this, you should. There were times where I had to pay for the program twice because life got in the way and I was too busy to take the test. It's worth the investment. Don't you think you're worth the investment? You do realize they give you your money back if you fail twice within a six month window right? How can you not see that they feel so confident in their program that they are willing to give you your cash back! I felt obligated to leave a review because I keep seeing crap like this. Every time I would check reviews for subtest 1, subtest 2, or subtest 3, I would always see these stupid reviews. Well, I'm back again, checking to see if anyone posted a good review for their RICA prep courses, and once again, I see a bunch of comments from a bunch of babies. I got tired of see this program get bashed by people who don't want to work hard, so i just wanted to leave this review. Don't forget, what you put into it is what you get out of it. I passed my General Science Praxis II (0435) and solely used this product. I paid $135 for this product and received video presentations, slide show reviews, practice Praxis, and then not only grading, but a one by one review of all the questions. Seriously, this is the most comprehensive program ever! I was skeptical because they only have reviews on their website and those are anything but unbiased usually. SO I added them to Yelp and wanted to be their first reviewer. I would love it if they had middle school presentations as well. At $135 for 2 weeks, you could never find tutoring. I've watched probably 30-plus hours of instruction. You have to work, don't get me wrong-It's not magic. read more

I used these services twice. Took my CSET tests forever ago and passed them all on the first round after taking the prep classes. Let my CSET scores expire....had to do it again and took the classes again and still passed them all. I did no additional studying. I also did the RICA course and passed it on the first shot. Used to work at a college and often referred their prep courses to my students struggling with CBEST, CSET and RICA. That being said....I'm usually a good test taker but I have nothing but great words for this company. They need to seriously update their videos. I failed Subtest 3 of the CSET Multiple Subjects studying from their video and other resources on their website. To tell you the truth, there were hardly any questions on the actual exam that I knew the answers to after studying from Teachers Test Prep. The best way to pass the exam, is study from many different types of resources, e.g., books, videos, to cover your all of your bases on all of the topics. I wasted my time and $ with these people for subtest 3, but for subtest 1, their video and study guide seemed helpful. read more

I actually like the videos, the reason I gave them 1 star is because they charged me twice for the same product. I payed $145 and days later when I was looking at my online banking I realized they had taken money out of my account on two separate dates for the same product. I am so grateful for this company!! I needed to pass the Praxis and this is the only online test prep that I could find. I was able to pass all portions of the test thanks to them! I have taken the CSET multiple subject Math and Science twice now and have failed. So, I paid $175 and drove to Sacramento on a Sunday to spend all day preparing for what I hoped would be my final victory. While registering, I heard people come in and say to the instructor "I didn't pass so here I am AGAIN." I just kind of wrote it off as if it was their fault. Boy was I wrong. Right off the bat, the first thing the instructor (Todd Lewis) said was..., "if you don't have a basic understanding of this material you need to get a tutor". Wait!, What? I just paid $175 dollars to be taught how to do these problems and if I don't understand I have to get a tutor? What am I paying you for? So we get started and all he does is run, and I mean run..., (so don't try to keep up), through the practice test. The majority of the time he will write out the whole answer on the white board but not explain fully how he get there. Its uncomfortable because you feel stupid. You don't want to speak up because your in a room with 20 other people and there is always those one or two people who know everything so... The number one thing that must be done as a "teacher" is, CHECKING FOR UNDERSTANDING! There is no checking for understanding here, this guy is an instructor and not a teacher. 20 years as a 8th grade teacher? Hmm, I wounder how may of your kids are out there right now saying I never learned anything from Mr. Lewis? My advice, save your money. Study with a friend. Oh and PS, less than 5% of what they teach you is actually on the test. read more

I took the in-person weekend course on all 3 subtests for the multiple subject CSETS. Our instructor was incredible and he really knew the material he was presenting on - no bad things to say there. What I really am disappointed about is I took diligent notes in the class and felt extremely confident after leaving. I studied the material in and out and I felt 100% ready to take the tests. Immediately after leaving the test, I felt uneasy and uncomfortable with the material I was tested on. I would say a total of 5-10% TOPS was on the material from the teacher test prep class. The rest was completely new material and I was utterly unprepared. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with these classes. It is sad for a teacher that we don't have many options to choose from for test prep and now I will have to suggest to other that this class is a waste of money and time. They do allow you to can come back and retake the classes "as their guarantee" but I would not spend more of my time to study material that again won't be on the exam. I also emailed the company requesting a refund (or at least partial) since in total between the classes and now retaking the exams I am spending over $900 but their response was rude, snarky, and unhelpful. read more
