I sharpened my pencils, brewed some coffee, and prepared to dive into the sea of knowledge. Instead, I found myself caught in a high-speed PowerPoint tsunami captained by someone who seemed less like a teacher and more like a caffeinated NASCAR driver on a mission to finish her slides before lunch. I've been through undergrad, grad school, even Coast Guard Captain's school -- I've learned how to navigate storms, both literal and academic -- but nothing prepared me for this. This wasn't a class; it was a pedagogical purge. Let's talk about the math section. Now, math has never been my strong suit -- which is why I was here. But this teacher flew through the material so fast, I wasn't sure if I was in a classroom or watching the math portion of Jeopardy! on 3x speed. I was trying to take notes, truly! But by the time I wrote one sentence, she was already three slides ahead and possibly in a different time zone. At no point did she ask, "Any questions?" Not once. Which, fun fact, is kind of a cornerstone of actual teaching. When I politely raised my virtual hand to ask what a term meant, she said -- and I quote -- "Just look it up." Moments later, when I shared I was feeling completely lost, she hit me with the inspiring words: "Just try to keep up." Ma'am, I was trying. I was trying harder than a cat in a bathtub. But at some point, even I had to admit that the only learning happening here was the realization that this was a very expensive way to feel dumb. In the end, I had to leave the class. Not because I gave up, but because the teacher seemed to have already given up before she even logged in. Final thoughts? I highly recommend Teachers Test Prep... reconsider what the word "teacher" means. Maybe swap it out with "Slide Presenter Who Can Break the Sound Barrier." Could be more accurate.

The Teachers Prep course materials are presented by an "instructor" reading a PowerPoint with information that can all be found for free on the internet. While there are two practice tests with feedback videos ONLY for the multiple-choice questions, there are no interactive activities or additional practice questions embedded in the course. After purchasing another program from EVO Prep, I learned more valuable information in an hour than I did with weeks of study on Teachers Test Prep.

Both of my parents are immigrants and as they try their hardest to help me achieve my goals, they did not have much information on how to apply to colleges or what colleges I should even apply to. That was when my friend referred me to the college planning center where I was given my very own college counselor, named Rajani Rao who showed a deep care in seeing my success in this college process. Every step of the way she gave me direction and deadlines ensuring I would get all of my applications done on time. Whenever I needed help with anything I was able to turn to her incredible knowledge and get a fast, swift, and helpful answer. She made the college application process, which is an extremely stressful one, more enjoyable, easy and she showed that she believed in me throughout every step of the way. I ended up getting in to one of my dream schools and I could not have done it without the college planning center's and Rajani's incredible help. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for help and guidance through their college application process! -Selihom Kibrom, Class of 2024 Going to Cal Poly Slo!

In reaching out to the college planning center, Rajani reluctantly was willing to take me on late into the process. She was extremely organized, timely, and helped me get all of my early applications done far before the deadlines. She was very informative and helpful when reviewing my writing and truly guided me to putting my best work forward. Her tentative support and care for my applications and future truly shown through. She was quite patient with all my fears, concerns, and desires as well as being excited and encouraging with me through it all. With Rajani's help, I was accepted into 9 out of the 10 schools I applied to! I believe that anyone who is lucky enough to have Rajani as their college career counselor will have the swiftest, stress free college application process, alongside someone who truly cares about your ambitions and passions. Without her guidance, advice, organization, peer review, and heartening support, I wouldn't have ended up where I am today. :) -Ava McMinn, senior in high school

Once he started elementary school, his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Chavez mentioned that he needed additional support. At that time, they did not know what the issues were. My thoughts were that he was too young for the grade but having a twin sister and she was advanced, I could not hold him back one year. My son struggled in school until I met Shannon Mulligan, owner of Marin Tutors. From the very beginning that I asked for help, Shannon took the time to provide the support that my son needed always paring him with excellent tutors that were compatible with my son's personality and their teaching techniques were always easy for my son to understand those math equations. Marin Tutors were common to see them at home, once or twice a week, every time that I came from work. From elementary school, up to his Senior year. Aidan recently graduated from San Rafael High School, Class 21, and he was accepted at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. In August, my husband Bradd, Aidan, and I drove to Las Vegas to settle him at the dorms of UNLV. It took us a few days to help him settle in his new stage in life, College. While we were helping to settle Aidan in his dorm, he expressed his excitement about his new college life, and he shared with us: "I can't believe that I am here right now, it is pretty exciting"... That really touched me, because automatically I went back in time, to those moments where he was filled with frustration for not being able to understand his math problems, all those moments that he felt "something was wrong with him" and being rescued by all those hours of tutoring with Marin Tutors. The truth is, that he is where he is right now, at UNLV thanks to Marin Tutors. He could not do it, or I could not help him (the math of nowadays is not my strength) without the help and support of Shannon Mulligan and all her excellent tutors that spent time with my son, one on one. To Shannon Mulligan, Marin Tutors, and all those college students that joined Marin Tutors thru the school years of my son, thank you for all your time, dedication, passion, patience, and knowledge. Thank you for all you contributed to helping my son Aidan. We would always be so grateful about it, and you would always be a part of my son. I guarantee you that!... Marin Tutors and Shannon Mulligan are simply the best! -Mirsonia
