I came across Tutor Me SF online and saw that they offered both in-person and online tutoring. At this time, we were only interested in working with a tutor online due to COVID. I spoke to the company and they were so knowledgeable and familiar with helping students and creating a plan for the kids during COVID so they do not fall behind. The company set us up with a credentialed tutor who has been tutoring the kids everyday for 5 hours a day and it has been working fantastic. This way they are not falling behind (Our biggest fear) and the tutor seems to keep the math and english session engaging which is so important. No kid wants to feel like they are going to school and I think they did a really good job at doing that. For Math tutoring, the tutor assigns homework and does weekly assessments. We feel like this is the most effective educational experience we have purchased and are so thankful for their service. With everything so crazy right now with COVID, this is the way to go.

This…read morecompany acted in bad faith towards me, ethnically profiled me, was unable to handle the simplest things, and did nothing to fix their bias and obvious mishandling of the situation. A few months ago, we started looking at the market of education consultant businesses to find someone who could help us, a fresh immigrant family with teens, navigate the complex world of American higher education. After several Crimson webinars, I decided to join their Facebook group, which they solicit at every webinar. Not a big deal, right? Just answer a few simple questions, including an odd one about where you live, and you're in. Not so fast. Long story short, I was declined several times (I kept applying because I could never imagine they were rejecting me repeatedly). The reason they finally condescended to provide was that they checked my Facebook profile to verify my location and found that I "live in RUSSIA!" Can you imagine anything more daunting or criminal than having that on your Facebook profile? So, once again: a business solicits you to join its group, and when you do, indicating several times that you live in the US (a requirement for acceptance), its representatives rush to your Facebook profile to double-check if you're telling the truth. Can you imagine making decisions based on Facebook profile info? Your nanny, Crimson Education, requires you to keep your Facebook profile updated, peasant! The irony? Four out of six moderators don't have any location information on their profiles. I bet many of the 4,000 group members either have incorrect locations, locked profiles, or no location at all. It's 2024, after all. I believe the only reason to decline me was that I'm from Russia. 'Russian bots' moral panic, or something similar. They applied their made-up rule to me personally because I'm Russian. They didn't reach out to clarify. They didn't provide a reason for declining until I started questioning them directly in the Facebook form, which isn't a convenient way to converse. And they not only declined my applications, filled out in good faith with correct information - they banned me after I started questioning their mishandling of the situation. No business has ever handled me with such outrageous disrespect and humiliation. I even sent a message to the company's main email asking for help. Guess what? I never received a response or support. They can't handle simple, everyday situations. They make up artificial rules, don't follow them, treat you with disrespect, and never admit their mistakes. They don't change their outrageous behavior or correct it, let alone apologize to you. Now, tell me, how can these people help kids get into the Ivies if they're unable to get parents into their own Facebook group?

Between Brightwheel updates, photos, messages, and seeing the teachers every day at drop-off and pick-up, we always felt connected and supported. It truly felt like we had partners helping us through some of the most important years of our kids' lives. I have not scored good score in my first attempt by preparing by myself. After that I had analyzed all leading GMAT prep courses based on the information available in websites and forums. I had next listen to sample videos before choosing Veritas prep. I would like to provide my review in four key areas. Skill builder: After 15 years in the industry, preparing for GMAT is not easy. The way materials were written and depth of the content are excellent such that anyone can understand without much effort and provide nice platform before the class. Home work problems and online support: There are so many problems for practice and excellent online support so that you never feel that you have been left off.[SP:] Veritas support is second to none. Online class room: I was worried before choosing online class as there might not be that much interaction with the instructor. At the same time, I have to drive 90 mins to attend face to face classes. I travel for business during the week. I thought I will try online class once. After attending the classes, I, now confidently recommend anyone to Veritas prep online class. The best thing is everyone can interact with instructor at the same time through live chat. One of main reason is the instructor. Instructor: Chris is very thorough in GMAT content and Veritas prep materials. He answered all the questions and explained everything including the problems received from outside materials clearly. He don't even waste single minute of three hours class. Even during the five minutes break, he gave a problem to solve. He watches everyone while choosing answer choices and switching between the answer choices and explain the thought process went in students mind exactly. He motivates people as well as tells the reality. He also helps students to set a realistic targets. I recommend anyone who would like to prepare for GMAT to attend Chris's class. I took my first GMAT at the end of May and spent the month of May studying so many different ways for the exam. I had all the books and materials suggested by my professors at school and I honestly thought I was going in highly prepared. I was wrong. After not achieving the score I wanted/needed, I knew something had to change. I did hours of research of who to take a course through, whether to go to a intensive weekend session or an in person lecture. I had originally signed up for a course during the spring semester that met each week, one night a week for 3 hours through Princeton Review, and just 10 days before it was scheduled to start, they cancelled it for low enrollment and couldn't offer me anything till may at the earliest, so I went about studying on my own. After taking the test and not getting the score I wanted, I found Veritas Prep. I was initially worried about the Live Online Course because I've always been a face to face learner. I'd taken an online course or two for school and hated them so I wasn't sold on this. IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Not only is the quality high, the instructors are so comfortable with the technology that the classes run smooth and fast. Chris Kane blew my mind each class with his ability to teach the lessons while simultaneously reading the live chat we had on the side and responding to questions as we had them. It felt like we were in a real life class room having a face to face conversation. I was definitely more involved in this course than I normally am in my classes at school because there is no pressure of answering the question right, no one physically knows you so you aren't holding back on sharing your thoughts/opinions or what you don't understand. THIS COURSE IS 100% WORTH THE PRICE with many different date options, what nights it meets, who your instructors is, etc. (I watched the sample videos of instructors before choosing who to take because I know I learn better from certain ty pes of professors). read more

I highly recommend taking this course. I had been studying for a month and was getting nowhere on my practice tests, not seeing any improvements. I am an average guy with big dreams and the drive to achieve them. Getting ready to transition out of the military, I needed to make certain that my future would have a bright outlook for my family and me. The key to that is being able to get into the best school possible, which came down to having the best GMAT score that I could achieve. Veritas Prep and Chris Kane were the key to getting me to the level I needed to be at. The Veritas Prep course has helped me learn so much! I have gained confidence in myself and am certain I will be able to crush the GMAT with the skills, techniques, and critical thinking abilities that I have gained. Chris Kane is an excellent instructor, I would definitely recommend taking his Live Online Course. We all can get any amount of material to study from so many sources available. No matter what the quality of the material is, what truly matters is the instructor's ability to improve your skills. At Veritas Prep I got exactly that from RAVI SREERAMA. His ability to keep me motivated in a brutally 3 hours long class was outstanding. Even though there were 25 to 30 students in an online class, Ravi gave so much of personal attention and kept me motivated. The class is very tempting to participate and this makes the class very interactive. Also, the online student account is well structured with videos both for skillbuilding and lesson videos, problems and even analysis of practice test results. I was banging my head on the wall for my poor GMAT performance but now my GMAT scores are improving and most importantly given the present trend, with practice, i firmly believe that i can make it to the 99% percentiler. Veritas Online Course - Instructor: Chris Kane I took the online course from Veritas Prep from May 31 to July 12. Chris Kane was an excellent instructor who made class fun and highly informative. Chris definitely has a very deep understanding of the material covered and is able adequately break it down to make it easily relatable. I didn't really know much about the GMAT prior to taking the course but felt that this course along with some of the official prep materials adequately prepared me for the test. I would highly recommend Chris' class to anyone taking the GMAT. Honestly the only thing I didn't like about the course was having to wake up at 9am on Saturday and Sunday, but I got a 740 today so I'm glad I did. read more

I completed a Veritas Prep Course (Live Online) that was taught by Chris Kane. My score increased from a 710 to a 760 thanks to the Veritas materials and instructors. Chris is incredibly familiar with the Veritas readings and homework assignments, since he co-authored the Veritas books. Chris also made the lectures enjoyable by telling some great stories and by spending time after class answering questions. Chris took the time to give me personal advice via email and over the phone after the class concluded. Although I have not completed any other GMAT courses, I find it hard to believe that anyone does a better job than Chris. He is a genuinely nice guy, and I highly recommend him! read more

Much like the naked conga, math for me is an awkward long forgotten series of patterns and moves that I only tried rarely and with much taunting and embarrassment. Insert my future. It now depends on a complex mathematical dance that I have yet to master. I consider my options: 1) a high priced test preparation factory, 2) a stack of heavy books that will be later used as the legs to a coffee table or 3) a random I find on craigslist to tutor me. I'm not sure if the classroom style test prep I'll receive at a big name corp is worth the value of a gold coin. I'm also not sure if I'm disciplined or savvy enough to navigate a labyrinth of test prep books on my own. Initially, I choose option 3. I've had lots of math tutors and my craigslist find was particularly abysmal. He had never taken the GRE and was a scholar equivalent to John Nash (i.e. see film "A Beautiful Mind"). Not only was my craigslist friend as perceptibly brilliant, but also taught me math in a similar method to the aforementioned film and savant-- which equated to a series of murmurings, scribbles and assurances that what I was learning was rather simple. Ack. Unfortunately, the numbers just wouldn't float in front of me and I decided to see what else I could do to prepare. After much googling and panic, I discover "Kick Ass Tutors" on thumbtack and meet up with Karim. Equally brilliant, but far more articulate than the former Nash understudy-- Karim offered clear step by step instructions and more personalized attention than I would have received with a more well-know test prep company. He also knew the GRE, had a set curriculum and was able to successfully get me to do the mathematical tango. All in all, save your time and your wallet and go with KickAssTutors. Karim is a mathematical rock star, but an even better teacher. Highly recommended!

Karim is not big on tricks like some of the other prep companies, but to quote the Trix Rabbit "tricks are for kids". Karim focuses on the actual formulas that you WILL need to memorize before the test. He brought workbooks for us and for a study group that only included 2 people, the price was very reasonable. He does not do verbal but if you are math deficient like me, definitely give him a call.

We did a proctored practice SSAT test with this outfit. The results were depressing, until we…read morerealized that they completely mis-scored the tests. You can imagine the initial parental panic when our kids landed in the 4th percentile. We have twins, and they both brought back the tests, which were different, even though the answer keys were the same. Spot checking the correct answers showed that they totally messed up. Plus, their scoring method is suspect. In the real SSAT, you lose 1/4 point for a wrong answer, and get 0 points for leaving it blank. In their test, it's 0 points no matter what. I have no idea about the quality of their tutoring, but given that a monkey would have scored as well as our kids, anyone's real SSAT scores are bound to go up. UPDATE: We got corrected scores the next day from NW. And according to them, apparently they do take into account blank answers in the overall score, even though it's not reflected in the reporting details. Hopefully they will have cleaned up their process.

Despite a bad SAT score when she started, my daughter was able to get her ideal score at the end, even more than what was expected in the initial contract. Megan is very professional and at the same time dedicated, patient and kind. Knowing that my chances of passing the CA Bar the 1st time were even lower than most applicants…read moresince I attended an unaccredited online law school, I fortunately came across Steven's website as I considered hiring a tutor. He fit me in as a new student and promptly sent me the Winnin' book. As I skimmed it, I realized I had struck gold. The book alone would have been worth the cost of tutoring for me as it became my "bible" in the months and weeks prior to the July 2017 exam. Once we started meeting; however, I realized the feedback on the essays and PTs were also very useful as they were specific and showed me things which happily developed into "lightbulb", or "AH HA" moments. Even going carefully over a model answer can't compare with hearing why you missed an issue or why you sometimes must repeat arguments for each issue (i.e. BOTH parties may be repudiating or I should discuss duty of loyalty for ALL offenses) ....My knowledge started deepening and I knew, even though Steven is quite direct and was sometimes a bit short responding to my questions, that this type of feedback was just what I needed. Following the tutoring, I then shifted to Barbri at Santa Clara Univ., but kept using my Winnin' book as I took notes. I felt I had a "secret" that would ensure my success, and was confident enough to even recommend Steven and my book to several fellow applicants. On that note, I also truly believe that if my online law school classmates hired Steven, or at least would avail themselves of Winnin', the school pass rate would go up considerably. Although the program is a hefty financial investment, you came this far, so isn't it worth not having to wait another 6 months not to mention the hours of studying? I'm SO thankful I'm done at One!!! In concluding, if you're a sensitive person, brace yourself a bit but remember the prize. You won't be coddled, but then again that's not how you will improve. I recommend Steven and Winnin wholeheartedly. It was my "secret" to success but I want to share it with you, especially if you went the nontraditional path as I did. If you didn't, then maybe it's not fair for you to use Steven! Seriously though, why make it harder on yourself when Steven has figured out the keys to CA bar success?
