Initially, I had my doubts about the live online class format - it sounded like it would be dry and not as engaging. Then, I read some reviews and decided to take a class with Ethan/Veritas -- one of the best decisions I've ever made! The software used for the online classes is actually surprisingly good - in addition to great video quality and the ability to submit answers to problems in class, the chat function allows you to ask questions without feeling like you're bothering everyone (and you're able to have a bit of fun/humor with it). But what really makes the class amazing is Ethan - he is hands-down the best test teacher I've ever had. - He really knows his stuff. Not only did he score very highly on the test himself, but he's been teaching the class for a while and can even speak to overall patterns he's seen with all the students he's worked with over the years. He really makes the most of class time so you never feel like you've wasted time. -He's patient. Ethan and his TA, Chris, were always extremely helpful both in class and responding to emails. They proactively and privately check in with you to see how you're doing and see if there are any gaps they can help you with. -He's got all the tricks. Ethan really has a trick for every single type of problem, whether it's verbal or quant. Veritas already has a great methodology for each problem type that comes in the book set, but Ethan has even more materials that he developed himself to help you with things like pacing (uber important), strategy, and memorizing special cases. -He's funny - it really helps! I found myself cracking up a couple of times during the actual GMAT thinking back to a couple of the pop culture references and jokes Ethan and our class had together. I ended up increasing my score by nearly 100 after the class. I highly recommend taking the Veritas class with Ethan if you can. read more

This format is delivered online but the instructor is casted to the students with a web cam and and interact with the students in real time. _______ I registered for the Monday/Wednesday live online class with Chris Kane over the phone with Farrah. She was very helpful and went over several details of the course and what I was getting when I signed up. Additionally, she provided me with a great example of how the live online course format worked in order to prepare me for the experience of using it for my course. After I registered and paid for the first of three payments, I got a box from Veritas in the mail that included 12 course books, an essential guide to some of the top MBA programs, and a dry erase packet and pen that mimics what you'll get on test day. You also get instant access to your online student portal after you register. To be honest, Veritas gives you so many resources that it's initially overwhelming. They do a great job of giving you first steps that helps you work through the student portal and the books systematically. This is mostly given to you in the first of the course books. With these learnings, it becomes very easy to use the online portal effectively. Chris was truly a wonderful instructor. I don't know how he does it but it really feels like he gets to know his students throughout the course. He gets really good at letting each of us know what we were probably thinking when we selected an incorrect answer. It's creepy but in a good way... although still creepy enough that we talked about it class. How does he know?! He was great at entertaining us through our lessons with stories about his past students and experiences as a GMAT instructors. Our incentive to do well during class was a $10 Amazon gift card. You'd think it was small enough not to matter but everyone in class is trying to get a 700+ GMAT score and get into B-school which means they're all incredibly competitive. Overall, Veritas Prep gave me the instruction and structure I was missing in my GMAT prep. The curriculum doesn't offer any shortcuts. It's meant to give you the tools you need to understand concepts and strategies at a deeper level. After two weeks of practicing post-class, I can see the difference in my thought process with practice problems. I highly recommend not only Veritas Prep but any course with Chris Kane! read more

I had high expectations for this class--it was honestly a huge expense for me. It delivered. I would highly recommend the Veritas program to anyone considering taking the GMAT. You would be at a huge disadvantage not to invest a lot of time into your preparation. Veritas helps you make the absolute most of that time. I was able to improve my first practice test score by 50 points to a 760. I knew that test prep classes had a reputation for not being as beneficial to high scorers (sorry if that comes off arrogant, but I did score pretty highly!), but Veritas is different. And their 99th percentile restriction for instructors is the difference. I had complete confidence that my instructor, Matt Douglass, knew the answer to any question I came across. He also brought incredible energy to a marathon sprint through some very dry material. He's a difference maker. Good luck! read more

I thought Veritas would be a good deal since it was about the same price as other prep courses, but they offered slightly more in-class hours. I wish I had asked others about this course before I signed up. quotes from my instructor... "thats what i get for thinking I could handle 2 jobs." I have used other GMAT prep courses and this is by far the best. I had spent months on end studying for the GMAT through other prep courses with little difference in my score. However, I learned 3x the information in half of the time with Veritas and am so excited to see an larger increase in my score. I cannot know how I would have done with another prep course, but I do know that I went from a baseline of 590 on my first Veritas Practice Test, to getting a 780 on the actual GMAT (though I was never able to break past a 710 on the Veritas Practice Tests). The instructor (I had Chris Kane) was great, intelligent, dynamic, interesting, and helpful. I felt like I learned the skills that I needed in a timely fashion that helped me be really effective. Other programs may be just as good or better for all I know, but I am at least confident that Veritas got the job done for me. Loved it. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed having Chris Kane as my main Veritas Prep Live Online GMAT prep course, with a shoutout to Brandon Pierpont as my course TA. With this class, I was able to raise my score 50 points from my best practice test to my final score in just over a month. My study schedule proved to be rather aggressive and I wouldn't necessarily recommend anybody duplicating it (there were a lot of materials and strategies to master), but it's certainly possible to get a strong score in a short time working with Veritas and Chris/Brandon. I can't reccomend Chris enough. He literally wrote the books that Veritas uses in its course, and he knows his stuff. I feel like if we could have stumped him in our class, we would have. I don't think it's possible. He is a great communicator and highly engaging, which is understandably a difficult thing to do in the online format. But I feel like he had a strong rapport with each of us, and even encouraged fun banter among the students. This made the class sessions welcomed parts of my weekly routine. Overall, I highly reccomend this course and format, and if you can get in with Chris Kane, do so! read more

Veritas prep has a very good educational program. Their online Veritas on demand service coupled with their books are really good. However, as I am typing this, I'm sitting here trying to study for my gmat test that is fast approaching, and their website is offline. I've called, emailed, and posted on every social network known to man, but I can't contact anyone at their company, they have no 24 hour tech support and no way of reaching them which is basically costing me hours of invaluable study time with a service that I paid an incredible amount of money to have available. So all in all it is a good but unreliable service. read more

Signed up for 2 nights per week online. This format I found far better than in a classroom setting: no distractions, no commute, no paying for parking or gas, and I got to choose the setting of my "classroom." My instructor was Chris K., he was super. He cared about our learning and went above and beyond with after hours instruction. If you put in the time out of class, I couldn't imagine a better way to prepare for the GMAT. Now, I haven't taken other prep courses. I just know the flexibility of an online class is just what I needed...and this one turned out to be a great selling-point for me: I now will consider online MBA programs too if they can be as interactive and impactful as this short course. read more

I had been studying for the GMAT for several months prior to taking the course. I think this is probably the best way to take this course. It's definitely fast paced and requires a firm handle on content (i.e. math concepts and grammar). It was effective because rather than focus on the minute details involved with solving the problems, the curriculum focused on the logical principles behind the problems. As for the instructor, Ethan Todras-Whitehill was great! His personable nature and creative teaching techniques made each three-hour class interesting without compromising learning. He taught me how to approach each question logically. This mentality helped me break my 680-level plateau to a great 720 score. read more

Ethan Todras-Whitehill is AMAZING. He brings the perfect blend of genius eccentricity and communication skills. He has a ton of energy and enthusiasm and makes you forget you're taking an online class. I took the online course with Chris Kane and it was worth every penny. I have a math degree, so I thought the math problems would come easy to me, but Chris showed what to look for and the shortcuts to take. He's a great instructor and I highly recommend this course for anyone thinking of taking the GMAT. I took the live online course with Chris Kane, with Brandon Pierpont as my TA, and am so glad that I did. I am a nonprofit professional who works 50+ hours a week and am planning my wedding, so I did NOT have time for any bullshit. This course was perfect. Chris was funny and engaging, and I learned a lot from the questions. The GMAT is a mental game, and Chris taught me to get through it well. He taught me the tricks to get through my weak area (math) and the ways to excel on my strong ones. I am NOT a math person (I'll be honest, I'm still not 100% sure what standard deviation is), but I managed to score a 49. Huge thanks to Chris for his efforts. Another benefit of the Veritas / online format was the TA. Brandon checked on each student during class and provided some additional 1-on-1 help as needed. I took the online class with Kevin Richardson and could not recommend any higher. The classes were incredibly well organized and very clear. For the most part, due to scheduling issues, I could not attend the live online classes and had to watch the recorded versions of each, but I still found each session very engaging. I recently completed a private tutoring package with Laura Cook and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their score in a short amount of time, and particularly to those who are looking to score in the 700+ range. Laura was very accommodating of my busy work schedule and was often able to meet over Skype on short notice. She also had a number of strategies and resources to help get me above the 700 threshold that I would not have been exposed to via a class or self-studying. Overall I was very happy with the Veritas course. The materials they provide do a great job of walking through the different question types and explaining how to most effectively answer each question. Additionally their online resources are great and easy to use. The live online format felt like you were in a real classroom and Chris did a great job of keeping everyone engaged throughout each lesson. Chris also showed great understanding of the material and was able to thoroughly explain how to attack each question.
