You can't take the golf carts to the beach, so I suggest to make sure you really will use it before renting them. Breakfast and coffee came with the reservation. Overall great place to stay if you're traveling to Ocracoke Island.

I confirmed that I would and was informed of the additional pet fee due at check-in. This showed that the hotel had received my reservation details. When we arrived, we discovered we had not been given the Deluxe King Suite we paid for. Instead, we were placed in an old, worn Queen room that was clearly not the room category we had reserved. I spoke with Cynthia at the front desk. Rather than acknowledging the mistake or offering to refund the difference in price, she repeatedly blamed Booking.com and then offered several different explanations as to why it happened. She even agreed that I had every reason to be upset and told me how I could seek reimbursement. However, when Booking.com contacted the hotel on my behalf, the hotel refused to approve any adjustment. The most disappointing part wasn't just receiving the wrong room--it was the complete lack of accountability. We paid for one room category and received another, yet no one at the property was willing to make it right. If you book here, I strongly recommend confirming your room type before arrival and verifying that you actually receive the accommodations you paid for. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Staff was less than gracious... Today I got a call from Blue Heron telling me that our reservation for May was being canceled... that they had quoted the stay too cheap. This is after I had received, from Blue Heron, a confirmation number and they had accepted payment. All we were asking for was the home that we booked, for the dates we booked, at the price that was booked, and that they accepted payment for... period. Net is we're left without a house for our stay and their response was basically... TOUGH! The staff that I talked with (Jennifer) actually said... "You'll never get a home on the island again" ... to which I said is that a threat? ... she then backed down... I've used Ocracoke Island Reality in the past and have NEVER had a problem... contrarily ... it would seem ...Blue Heron equals ... PROBLEMS! We had numerous problems with the house, one of which was a non-working toilet that they said they knew about and just assumed it had been fixed. A part was ordered but had not arrived by our departure. Another serious issue was that the house had roaches. They said that is common on the island. I've never seen one during our 6 other stays on the island. I asked the manager if she had roaches at her house and she stuttered and said no. They also said they would call me back and 4 hours later I called them again. They said they tried to call me but I had no missed calls. Then they said the emailed me and there was nothing. They said they spelled my name wrong which makes no sense when I am in their database. So then they emailed me again saying there was an attachment and of course it wasn't there. They tried to give me a gift card for a future stay and I told them no way. They returned a small amount of money which didn't even come close to how much we spent on taxes alone. They have since not returned my emails or texts. I would like to review the house and there is nowhere on the website to do so although they post reviews for each property.

My room had double beds, a full sized refrigerator, stove & oven with pots, dishes, and utensils, and a small tv connected to DIRECTV. Outside in the courtyard was a porch swing, tables and chairs, bicycles for rent for the guests, a recycle bin that all guests are encouraged to use, and an area for guests to fillet their fish. My only negative comment about the room was the rather small shower stall. Before checking in here or at most any property on Ocracoke Island, make sure you understand all of their policies. Once you have made your reservation, it is considered something that cannot be cancelled. They will send via email all of the details. This was a pleasant, quiet place to stay.

There is mold on the all sliders to decks, , "soft wall" with obvious water damage in bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Prominent odor on lowest level - Lower level bedroom (closest to the pool) the slider is nailed shut. 3 lounge broken lounge chairs at the pool. Outdoor shower filled with inflatables. Upper level, esp kitchen was not clean- floors with crumbs & countertops dirty- the renters cleaned upon arrival. Very disappointing entrance to the house - it needs assessed for water damage, mold & mildew! WiFi is slow & spotty - requires rebooting - and 3 visitors have WFH obligations Toaster is filled with rust and the drip Coffee pot - coffee pot has a rusty warmer as well as the spring under the basket is malfunctioning and kicks off when brewing Both of these are "everyday" comforts and advertised for the home in "amenities" that we would appreciate replacements for Rain concerns- Thursday- Sat the forecast calls for rain, the all sliding glass doors on the top & second floor will require some type of mats to catch the leaking. This is false advertising! And unacceptable to push all ownership on the owner when Midgett is renting - Very disappointing This house is a health hazard- If I could give "0" stars I would -

The house was perfect and worth every penny. I'll admit, I was intimidated at first when booking the house, but oh my gosh it could not have been easier. Communication when booking and up to arrival date with the agency could not have gone smoother and the response time was quick. When we arrived, we did need to contact them for something silly and they were attentive and the resolve was very quick. The walk to the beach was short and sweet. It was the best week of my life. I will hopefully be contacting Village Reality again next year but the only change would be for a bigger house. all though I'd want to do it again with just my girls, I think we may have recruited a few more people.
