1/19/26 5:00 p.m. Walk-in Food: The selection available here is outstanding! Between the drink options and the general store merchandise, there is so much to look at; so many new things to try. My go-to was an iced Thai milk tea with boba, but I recently tried the taro milk tea and now I'm hooked lol. This last visit, I had my daughter with me and she asked if they had a regular chocolate shake (they don't), but the employee that was taking our order was incredibly sweet and helped us pick out something that would work. She made a chocolate banana shake and just omitted the banana, as well as added frozen strawberries on top for my daughter; it was delicious. One of my favorite things to get as well is the matcha mochi; I'm so glad they carry them! Service: Every time we've been in, the employees are wonderful. We're greeted with a smile and positive attitude as well as patience. They are quick and efficient when preparing your order. This last visit, one incredibly sweet employee even came out to give my daughter quarters (from her own wallet) for the claw machine. She most definitely went above and beyond :) Ambiance: It's quaint and cozy inside. It's pretty well organized and kept very clean. There aren't too many tables to sit at, so it can get crowded if it's busy, but it never really seems to be an issue. The variety of items available is awesome as well as the large selection of freshly made-to-order drinks. They have frozen items that you're able to warm up and eat there as well. This is a great little spot for people that want to get some work done also; it's like a little coffee café, just better. The overall noise level can get a bit elevated, but headphones can easily cancel it out if you're sitting down inside. read more

4.5 stars overall! Their cheese creama is so good! Very creamy and flavorful. Their tea is fragrant too. Not watered down at all. I definitely recommend the Jasmine Tea Creama or the Oolong Creama! Unexpectedly, they added oreo crumbs into my Oolong Creama... It wasn't bad, but quite random. I also tried a sip of their milk tea with boba, but I wasn't too much of a fan. The boba was kind of hard and the milk tea was just okay. It had a strong honey flavor though! Inside the store, they also sell a variety of Asian snacks! Lots of instant ramen, cookies, and childhood Asian snacks. It's great for the ISU students in the area. In the freezer section, they even have frozen dumplings! read more

I love this little shop in Ames. It's very cute inside and they even have other snacks! It makes my stops very convenient. I've gotten seaweed packs from here and even considered buying a hot pot lol. The tea is delicious here, you can truly taste the tea flavor. I feel as though other shops have more syrupy tastes. Tea time is so cute. Their interior is comfy and chill, every time I come in there is plenty of a seating. They also have free WiFi so it's a great place to hang out whenever you have some free time over in campus town. For being located in a small town in Iowa, their menu has a good variety of bubble teas also including hot tea, shakes and smoothies. The price for bubble tea is similar to the price of getting a coffee at a cafe. So it really depends on what you get. They have an easy rewards system where after a certain amount of drinks you can get a free one. Which is a nice surprise if you a stop in regularly. I always get their oolong milk tea with no toppings. It's a sweet drink that always helps perk up my day. Tea time also has food and snacks, I recommend either their cheese cake or popcorn chicken. read more

Loved this spot. A few tables with games. Tons of Asian snacks and other grocery items. But the real hero is the bubble teas. Three Sisters was super yummy and interesting. I visited Tea Time while I was in town for an event at Iowa State this past weekend. The interior is pretty cool and made for a comfy place to chill for a few minutes while enjoying my boba tea. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon in campustown, yet there was a steady stream of customers coming into Tea Time. I go the tiger milk tea with boba. It was really, really good. The menu looks like what you see in the bubble tea shops in California or NYC. They're not lacking in selection! I honestly can't think of any flavors or toppings that they don't have. Also want to put in a good word for the employees. You can tell they're quite young, but they were so professional, friendly, and efficient and warm/welcoming. They were answering questions and chatting with customers, cleaning as they go, and churning out freshly made drinks at a high level of competence. I was so impressed with the staff here. Great work, guys. Beyond drinks, they also have other boba pairing favorites like popcorn chicken (a classic side to boba), egg custard tarts, egg rolls, and a variety of Asian snacks near the counter. This might actually be the best bubble place I've been to in a hot second. They offer so many selections of both milk and fruit teas, but I particularly love their milk teas (try the earl grey or jasmine milk tea)! What really got me is the toppings. They have so many toppings, including red bean and grass jelly, and that just makes my heart happy. Pro tip: their honey pearls (boba) are already a little sweet, so I like to get no sugar in my milk tea and the sweetness from the pearls gives the drink the perfect amount of sweetness. If you're new to the world of boba, I highly recommend getting a large earl grey milk tea with honey pearls and red bean (give red bean a shot of you haven't!) it's my favorite! A large bubble tea runs you $4.75 plus an additional $0.50 for each topping. However, I think this is reasonable because the bubble tea is so good, and the large size lives up to its name. Tea Time was a surprising find in Ames, IA - one of the perks of being in a college town. Their signature milk tea at 30% sweetness was excellent, with authentic and strong tea flavor. The cafe has a cozy set-up with a communal bench table and half a dozen two seat tables. Even though they were a tight fit, the tables were spacious enough for laptops and textbooks and relatively quiet on a weekday afternoon. Taste is ok. But seriously who charges 0.50 for no ice? I drink a lot of bubble teas. I get them all the time in bigger cities (new york, Boston, Chicago). Almost one cup a day while I'm in those cities. Because they're tasty! Free toppings and you pick your own sugar and ice. I personally know some people who have bubble tea shops. One cup of tea cost them maybe 90 cents. Yup! I think I'll stay with Starbucks while I'm in Iowa. I love bubble tea, but money don't fall from the sky. read more

The fruit tea was great and they had so many flavors to choose from. The popcorn chicken was also really good because it was actually real chicken meat and didn't taste processed. They have their seasonings off to the side which was cool cause you can choose what seasonings you want and how much you want. Definitely worth coming back, it is $5 though for the tea so it is a little bit pricey in my opinion. read more

A nice,cozy little shop with very good Tea. They have replaced the TJ Cups that used to be at the same location and are just as good if not better. I usually get their Signature Milk Tea (Hot) which is really good and is the closest thing to Indian Chai (sans the spices) that I could find in Ames (ask them to not add tapioca pearls, then it is nearly the same as chai without spices). I also recommend trying their shaken fruit teas, my favorite being Oolong with mango and honey pearls. They also serve some snacks, popcorn chicken being the best of them, though it is their perfectly brewed tea that shines the most. Definitely worth a try for tea lovers! read more

So great! Got there maybe ten minutes before close and even though it was probably frustrating the two girls working were kind and helpful. The tea itself was amazing. You got to watch the employees craft it and seal the lids up close - you could see exactly what went into your drink. There's lots to choose from, and if you're not a fan of boba/bubble tea there's other tasty options. I have to stop myself from going back every day. read more

i really don't understand what has happened to this place. i've been going to this bubble tea shop since they were just a few girls working with almost nothing other than bubble tea. i'm not some old person here to complain about the customer service, i'm just a frustrated teen who is disappointed to see that my favorite bubble tea store has gone so downhill. like i said, i'm a long term customer, up until my most recent visit i have enjoyed this place and their products. over time i have watched their business grow and being more product onto the shelves, along with getting quicker at making drinks and pulling through the pandemic strong. however, as most small businesses do, they start to worry about quantity instead of quality. they packed the shelves full of imported products that aren't even good. i'm a sucker for mochi and pocky, but the mochi i tried isn't even authentic or good. they've changed their cups since i've been going there, you're getting less product and it's so watered down. i have nothing against these people or their business i just want the old tea time that i loved back. i don't need all of my favorite places falling prey to the capitalist city system. i'm going to continue going here, i'm a fiend for bubble tea, but i hope to see them choose quality over quantity. read more

love this place! even being 15 minutes away this has been my go to spot for the past month. every time i go i try something new and it never disappoints and the staff is always great with helping me pick! also give the staff a lot of credit every time i'm in there and it's super busy they don't have ever have many people behind the counter and they still try to do it in a timely manner. read more
