I haven't tried their sandwiches and meals yet but when I do I am sure I'll give them 5 stars. I think the real tea drinks are pretty good. They are not super sweet, keep that in mind, but I think you can ask them to add more sweetness to it. I personally like the real tea taste to my drink. I tried the "Kiwi" flavor tea and added boba/pearls to my drink. I liked it a lot! I went around 5pm and there wasn't anyone there, I had the staff's undivided attention! He was very nice and pleasant. The meals look so good too but I wasn't very hungry at the time. UPDATE: I tried their hummus and egg waffle sandwich and found it pretty good. I don't think the flavors of the egg and hummus go extremely well together but it's not bad. 4 stars for the taste. I also tried the cold blueberry tea and it was delicious. My friend loved his syrup bacon waffles and matcha green tea smoothie. read more

If you're not willing to go to Panda Tea or Chatime (both quite far from Osborne), this place is probably the best substitute out there for tea. I had the $10.99 lunch special, which consisted of a waffle sandwich and an iced fusion tea. I went with a waffle dog and lychee iced fusion tea. The waffle was quite savoury, but the concept of two waffles with a smokie sausage...didn't seem to fit right. The end product literally looked like a sausage sandwiched between two waffles. It still tasted good though, which I guess is what counts. The iced fusion tea was decent too. Definitely not the best place to dine in the Village, but a good place to sit back and chat/do some work while having a bubble tea and a sandwich. read more

Neat little place but for some reason, like another reviewer, I thought they were going to sell tea products to take home and serve drinks like David's Tea. But to my surprise this place does not double as a retail tea store, it is a very funky cafe that sells teas, bubble tea and waffle desserts. The music is cool and relaxing while the decor is beautifully designed. I fell in love with the two sci-fi egg looking chairs - they were super comfy and so unique! I loved the upbeat colours and just overall design of the place. I am not a fan of bubble tea so I just had tea while my sister ordered the mango bubble tea. I tried a sip of her bubble tea and really enjoyed it though I am still not a convert. The one thing I think they should add is free wi-fi! After getting off from work today, I noticed that Tea Story had finally opened and I was really excited to see what they had to offer. As far as interior design goes, I agree that it looks pretty fabulous, and you could tell that they spent a lot of time working on the store's look. However, as beautiful as it may look, the real deal is how good their products are. They had a wide selection of different types of teas, bubble teas, fusion teas and assorted types of dessert waffles and sandwich waffles. I decided to give their sandwich waffle a try because it sounded interesting, and I haven't really seen it available anywhere else. I can't remember the name of the sandwich waffle (~$10) I ordered, but it had avocado, cucumber, salmon and teriyaki sauce, i think. As I was dining in, I was surprised that they would serve the sandwich waffle on a paper plate, but I guess that's okay, it's probably because it's easier to clean up. The most important thing was is the sandwich waffle good? Sadly, I found it to be a bit plain. The waffle itself was kind of flat and thin and tasted bland. The sandwich as a whole was just okay, but at least the ingredients were fresh. After eating the sandwich waffle I got a bit thirsty, so I decided to give Tea Story another try and ordered a drink, because after all they were called "Tea Story", so the main selling point is their assorted teas and drinks. I ended up ordering the "fresh" taro bubble tea (~$4.50). They had used both the taro powder (I assume for stronger flavour) and also what looked like frozen taro puree. I've never had bubble tea with "fresh" taro before so this was something exciting for me to try. The bubble tea tasted great, so that was a plus. If I ever came back to Tea Story again, it would be for their bubble tea and not their waffle sandwiches, even so, it's still a big IF whether I'd come back or not. read more

Neat place with a helpful and informative staff, who it turned out later work and sing well together. I was expecting a tea/coffee kind of place, and after walking in the menu made me wish I had not eaten before. So we sat down and enjoyed some tea, found the MIB chairs at the front uncomfortable so move to one of the tables. Over all a good experience, the only issue I have is it would have been nice to have a non-fashion (read manly) magazine in their pile. We will be back and bring an appetite and update thing baced on that visit. read more

I've been going regularly since they opened and they keep getting better. For gifts I always grab loved ones a pouch of tea from here or a decorative tea pot. In some older reviews it says this place doesn't sell retail products but they do indeed! The waffles are amazing and I'm loving the bubble tea. I have walked by this place many times and have always been intrigued by the funky decor I see through the window. Finally decided to stop in for tea time and get some work done. They have every single flavor of tea and bubble tea you could imagine. I decided on a classic: chai tea with honey and went to find somewhere to sit. That's when things got a bit disappointing. There were many empty tables but most of them were dirty with crumbs and such. I really wanted to sit in the egg-like chairs I always see in the window, but they also looked messy and I didn't sit there. There seems to be a lounge-like area set up near the back but it was dark and not lit very well so I avoided that spot as well. I finally ended up sitting on a couch by a window even though the coffee table had dirt underneath it. The place just needed a good sweeping/vacuum/wipe down. If the place was more clean, it would be a great little cafe. read more

Went here for the Canada Day festivities and found out about this restaurant because of a booth they had on the Osborne Village. Thought I may as well try it out instead of going for Kawaii Crepe which is my staple for this sort of things in Winnipeg. Wait times for food and drinks were long, but then I guess that's because of the Canada Day festivities so I won't hold them accountable for that. I had their Very Berry waffle. It's not bad, it's better than the dessert crepe I had at Kawaii, but I also found it a bit overpriced. Personally I had better at William's near the Toronto Pearson Airport. I also had a taste of the Fish Story waffle. The ingredients inside were nice, but the waffle tasted like OLD Eggo waffles. Ugh. Their Real Fruit Bubble Teas were ugh so disgusting. I ordered the Young Coconut Real Fruit Bubble Tea and ended up with some slushy gunk. I still drank it because I was bloody thirsty after walking and eating the stuff they had, but honestly I will just go to Kawaii Crepe from now on. read more

My experience at tea story cafe was unfortunately a negative one. I went here on Canada Day, for some context. Let me start off with the good before the bad. The good thing about this place was the delicious smelling waffles and a pretty modest herbal tea selection. Since there is no DAVIDsTEA in Osbourne village, this would suffice. I never got to try the herbal teas but they offered some floral loose leaf teas and blooming flower teas. The decor in this cafe is absolutely adorable. It's a lot like Kawaii Crepe's decor but way cleaner looking and cute looking. Now, the bad. I do understand that it was Canada day and it was stupidly hectic and busy. However, I don't think that it justifies waiting 1 hour, yes you heard me, 1 hour for a bloody bubble tea! I've done bubble tea before - making it in a busy environment and no matter how busy it is, it shouldn't take 1 hour to blend some ice, tea, milk and powder. Especially when the cashier said it'd take 20 minutes. Yeah, 20 minutes times 3. NOW, if the tea WERE delicious I wouldn't be so upset. Our party ordered 4 bubble teas: Taro, Chocolate, Pudding and Mango. They were all tasteless. I've never had a bubble tea that had a texture of a slurpee before. You know, that kind of texture you get when you suck all the syrup out and all that's left is a mound of shaved ice? Not pleasant. I've never experienced this in any bubble tea place ever. They barely put bubbles in your bubble tea as well. If you don't want some slushy bubble tea then don't waste your time here. Kawaii Crepe is just down the street. Kawaii Crepe gets really busy but they don't take an hour to serve you your drink, nor does their bubble tea end up like a slurpee! I went here on a thursday bored, hungry, and too lazy to walk over to kawaii crepe so i decided to walk in since i saw ice cream and waffle in the same picture. Once i walked in, it was pretty empty and it has a 70's vibes with the spinny chairs. I also liked the color choice. I looked at the menu and i was surprised that there's such thing as a waffle sandwich. I had my lunch so i went for one of the dessert waffles ( i ordered the banana split) I really liked the choices that had for both waffle sandwich and waffle dessert plus bubble teas (which sadly i didn't order) It took about 10-15 minutes to make and once i took the first bite my hopes went down the toilet. The wife dragged me here because it looked "super cute" As soon as we walked in, however, we noticed this place totally copied Kawaii Crepe. Instead of crepes they use waffles, but everything else is coincidentally similar: the menu items, menu names, the chairs, the fusion tea, the overall look. The waffles were average almost like a heart shapped eggo waffle, though I love eggo waffles, I could have made this at home. The taro tea was good and the interior was very nice. But sorry Iris H. I stopped in here for a bubble tea and outside of being confused on how you make a "bubble tea" without green tea (an available option where they substitute milk... or so I was informed... although a bubble tea should have milk as well) I had a very pleasant experience. Tea Story offers two sizes and a good variety of flavours. The food looks delicious but I don't know if I can trust a place that makes a waffle-dog but that might be my own hang-up and strict expectations when it comes to meat in tube form. Decor is very inviting and casual. The location is a bit awkward if you drive here but if you're in the village for shopping or other purposes Tea Story is worth the walk to the southern end of Oz Village. Has a dozen of different board games to choose from checkers to cards against humanity. A great place to hang out. Cons Restaurant needs cosmetic renovation work done. Coach and stools were ripped, worn. Floor looked dirty. Bathroom area looked like a construction zone with ladders and tools. Bathroom itself could also use some cleaning and renovations done. The hallmark of a good bubble tea place is the quality of their tapioca pearls and I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pearls here! - soft with a chewy centre. They seem to be unsweetened however, or it may have been the particular batch. I had the mango bbt and it was more of the fruit slushie type rather than being based in a particular type of tea as in most chain bubble tea places. read more

I will say that this new place has great tea and the interior design is fantastic here. First walking in, I thought it was going to be a great place and couldn't wait to see what they'd have for food and tea. Before it opened I'd seen the sign and assumed it was going to be something like David's Tea but with a sit in cafe. Their main food items are dessert waffles and sandwich waffles (?). Weird, yes. I was intrigued though since I thought it might be similar to Kawaii Krepe. I ordered the Hawaii waffle sandwich, my girlfriend ordered a "salad". We got a pot of Jasmine tea to share. We sat down at a table and realized they didn't ask my girlfriend what kind of salad she wanted or what dressing or anything. We went back to the counter and they just seemed totally lost for what they were doing. Probably just brand new staff that were improperly trained. When her salad came to the table it was brought it a styrofoam to-go box even though we were clearly staying there. My "waffle sandwich" didn't show up for about another 15 minutes. The tea came about 10 minutes after that. The waffle sandwich was actually very good. The salad was horrible. Could have made a way better salad at home and spent a quarter as much. For a place called "Tea Story", they also don't have many kinds of tea. Maybe 20 different flowering teas and then a few other kinds. This place just seems like they don't know how to run a restaurant properly. The owner should probably just stick to designing them and not running them. Check this place out if you are brave and want to try something new. We definitely did not enjoy it. Just go to Kawaii Krepe, much better and similar. read more

I've only been here once but I enjoyed it. I was here on a weekday evening and it was really quiet, so service was good and quite quick. The bubble tea I had was tasty and averagely priced and they had a couple of flavour options that I haven't seen any place else. I tried one of them, I think it was egg custard or something like that. I know it had "egg" in the name. I love the decor in here. It's very fun and creative. It has a similar feel to Kawaii Crepe but it doesn't feel like a clone. I'll go back. read more

My husband and I had an awful experience at Tea Story. The location and the decor are nice but the good points stop there. The two staff members working had horrible attitudes. When we first walked in one worked rudely handed us menus and told us to come up when we were ready and then promptly walked away. I ordered the double pepperoni waffle, my husband ordered spicy cowboy waffle and we ordered a pot of dragon flower tea to share. I had asked for my waffle not to be made with mushrooms and the person taking the order (the one who also rudely handed us our menus) rolled her eyes and scoffed. After 30 minutes of waiting for our food and tea and not receiving either, and also seeing others get their orders who had come in after us, my husband went and asked how much longer it would be. They said they were in the process of making them. At that point my husband noticed there were mushrooms on mine and brought that to their attention to which both employees rolled their eyes. About 5 minutes later our waffles and tea were brought by the person cooking. She said she was new at cooking waffles and that's why it had taken so long (which was said with a really rude tone and attitude). After a few bites the other employee (eye-rolling, menu shoving person) came up with a piece of paper with writing on it and said "look, you guys ordered at 10:05 so it hasn't been half an hr and the cook is working really hard so you both shouldn't comment on the wait time". We tried to show her our payment receipt that clearly showed that we ordered at 9:45 and it was 10:20 at that point. We were both stunned by her attitude. I took another bite and notice there was a black bug crawling in my food - in the topping in the middle of the waffle, not on top, so I know it wasn't just flying around and landed on it. We immediately got up and left. We didn't even bother touching the tea. From other online reviews of the restaurant I can see that service in general is usually pretty horrible so we will never go back. It's a shame this place is run so poorly. read more

Great interior but could the service have been any slower? I make better waffles, quicker, at home for a fraction of the price. We were the only customers in there and it still took almost a half an hour to cook an underseasoned dried out waffle and add some lettuce, tomato and turkey. I suspect that the girls were too busy "peace-ing out" with their workmate who had just got off shift to actually offer any kind of service. I am certainly hoping that the two young women behind the counter were new and that they will get better. The manager needs to ensure that at least one staff member knows what they are doing if they hope to make a go of it. We will not return to find out. read more

The drinks are good, but the food quality is hit and miss and the service is terrible. One of the men working there was clearly selling drugs across the back table, and was glued to his phone the entire time we were there. The staff also go directly from handling cash to handling food without washing their hands. read more
