My friend's coffee was decent. My matcha green smoothie was very organic and delicious. The pizza bagel was delectable and I am happy that they have bagels like this in their store. First time in here and located right on main (busy street!) it's a tiny space, but perfect lighting and minimal seating. I have a feeling this a takeaway spot and not meant for hanging around long. I had a cortado and it was smooth and well balanced. I would definitely come back here again and would try an espresso or cappuccino. They had a small pastry case, but it was mostly sold out when I was in around 1:30 pm. Has a small restroom and on the way there, there's a cute selection of books for purchase. Believe it or not, this Texas girl was wondering around LOST in the streets of Downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba with no wifi and no idea how to get home. I saw Parlour from across the street and thought "this looks like a place with wifi, maybe i can get my google maps working if i go in there"! When I entered, I immediately fell in love with this cute coffee shop! They were so kind in helping me (giving me directions and a printed map) & though not a coffee drinker, I wanted to try their stuff so I got the iced tea sweetened which was refreshing and felt just like home. Parlour, way to be. What a wonderful unassuming little coffee spot that produces high quality coffee. A warning for those who don't appreciate the finer things in life as well as willing to pay for them, this may not be your jam. I went with the double Americano and it was so smooth and tasty and I definitely felt the jolt of caffeine flow through my system. I noticed they have cold brew coffee which I equally love and you should too. Very relaxed environment, bright with that sort of minimalist, rustic, urban, warehouse charm. I'm super into you Parlour. If I lived or worked near downtown Winnipeg, you'd be my jam. A few things: I do not know if you have free wi-fi, although I hope you do. I've searched long and hard for a good Latte each time visiting Winnipeg. Must say, Parlour is by far the best . A sign that the crema and steamed milk is at the right temperature is the ability to do a heart, rosetta or other pattern. There are some comments about Parlour being pretentious. These guys are anything but. By the way, being a 'coffee snob' (me), doesn't mean you're stuck up. Went in with my mom and sister for an afternoon stop, mom's decaf was good, but my sister got the chai latte and called it underwhelming... no chai taste and was really luke warm. My peppermint tea was very weak and also luke warm. The staff was really friendly and offered to top it up with hot water. Can't speak to the baked goods as there wasn't much left when we got there. The washroom is connected with the salon next door. One of the good ones you can get in Winnipeg but definitely stronger for coffee than teas. read more

Let me preface by saying that I am no coffee connoisseur but I do know when I taste something good. LOL. Located on Main Street between the Woodbine Hotel (sketchy hotel) and Berns & Black Salon (posh salon & spa), this is supposedly Winnipeg's first high-end (non-corporate) coffee shop. Well, it's more like a coffee bar as there's really no place to actually linger and sit for a long time. So let me warn all the Starbucks people with the laptops, newspapers and general lingerers....you can't plop yourself here for hours on end. You can probably hang out by standing around or sitting at one of the handful of bar stool chairs in this 200 sq foot space. It's a small, bright and minimalistic space that's anchored by a beautiful long wooden counter with the added glamour of the gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The vibe and feeling I get from this place is that I am in a coffee bar in a quaint section of SoHo or maybe it was the crowd that conjured up that feeling. The mid-afternoon crowd along with the staff are young, laid-back, hip and artsy. The owner is an architect who ended up leaving the world of design to pursue his obsession for great coffee. They serve slow drip coffee, espresso, latte, mocha, tea, pellegrino, and a small selection of pastries from Stella's. Prices start at $2.50 for an espresso to $4 for a mocha with most drinks at $3.75 taxes included. They sell 49th Parallel (Vancouver) and Phil and Sebastian (Calgary) coffee which you can also buy in bags packaged from $14-$20. I opted for the latte ($3.75) - I think the size is around a tall (about 350 ml). The menu is pretty simple so it's nice that you don't have to name the size or the list of things you normally say at Starbucks. I'm sure you can state your specifications but I just let them do their thing. They use whole milk as default though I am not sure if there is a low fat option, but soy is an extra $0.50. They don't heat their milk as high as most places so the latte is slightly sweeter and accordingly the overall drink cools down fairly quickly. I tried it plain first and realize how much I am NOT a coffee purist so after a little sprinkling of sugar, it became a delectably tasty, smooth and creamy latte. Maybe it's all these years of drinking low-fat coffees but I can see why people like whole milk. LOL. It was a delicious afternoon treat but my only (slight) disappointment is that I didn't get any latte art - just foam. I would definitely return for the mocha which is made with real Belgian chocolate flakes - sounds yum! On a side but related note, I love the revitalization that's occurring in and around the Exchange District and along Main Street. It's lovely to see the mix of new and old buildings and businesses that are so unique to this part of the city. Sometimes I feel like I am in another (more hip) city and then realize that I am at home! How nice! Winnipeggers love to gripe about how crappy this city is but it's probably from ignorance as I don't think these are the same people who actually wander around areas like the Exchange and support the local businesses. So please, take your time to patron this place and all the other shops and eateries in this area. Open: M-F: 7 am to 5 pm Sat: 9 am to 5 pm Closed Sundays. They take cash and credit (I assume they take debit too). I guess cash registers are not aesthetically pleasing as there's no cash register - it's just an iPad and the pin pad terminal! read more

1 glamorous latte to go, please. Quaint, urban, minimalist, yet modern is probably the best way I can describe parlour. Located right slong main street and right near the bustle if the fringe festivsk, I had to stop in to get a coffee since I knew of a fellow yelper that gave high reviews. I ordered a sweetened latte which was sweetened just enough. I love how they add a special touch ehen pouring in the milk that it creates a lil heart in the foam. Not very much room for sitting, but I enjoyed taking a seat at the counter and being able to people watch while I sipped my latte :) read more

Great coffee, done with a lot of love and care. The coffee list is quite small, and you can't get a quick cup of regular brew, but that's the rest thing about this place. If they can't make something to meet they high standards, they don't have it. I recommend the pour over coffee if you have some time to sit. Great flavour, and I love watching the process. Finally, Winnipeg has artisanal coffee! The minimalism of the place is very hipster cool, but the owner and his staff are counterintuitively friendly and enthusiastic. In other words, they may be coffee snobs, but they're not jerks! They just want to make you an amazing cup of coffee, and they will never fail at that. You can't get infinite Starbucks-style customizations here (definitely no flavoured syrups), but what you get will be expertly made and delicious. They also stock a selection of retail products that are hard-to-find -- including Australian Keep Cups and special pour-over filters and kettles and such. You can also buy the beans they use. This is a place to pick up a cup and go, or sit for a short mid-day chat with a friend -- no wifi! How refreshing! read more

Right beside the theatre district, has big window that lets in a lot of sunshine, quick service and very relaxing to sit and people-watch. I came here today and had an excellent Americano and some orange juice/pellegrino and a snack of some banana bread. Amazingly! this place looks just like the pictures. I know, big surprise. But really - I was so happy to stop by and have a really great cup of coffee in the middle of my bike ride. I am normally a very thrifty person but I will spend money for good things and - life is short, drink good coffee whenever you can is my motto. And, I think we should support people who create beautiful things. So, this popular and happy little place is a very good place to support. The block is a little rough but - life is a little rough and we could all do with some reality doses at times. Hands down my favorite coffee shop in Winnipeg. Parlour is located in a turn of the century building in the Exchange District that has been re-purposed as a hip and modern coffee shop. They carry a decent selection of coffee beans and accessories. Their menu of drinks is standard, but consistently good. There is also a few baked goods from other local Winnipeg stores (I believe Tall Grass Prairie). It is a rather small cafe, with two long bar-style tables that seats probably 12-14 at most; one table faces the window that overlooks Main Street, which makes it fun to people watch and to watch the traffic go by. There is no Wi-Fi, as advertised on their wall, so be prepared to talk to your fellow patrons. I wish they had more extended hours, but that is probably not sustainable for an independent, downtown Winnipeg establishment. From time to time, there will be live music performances inside the cafe. Great customer service. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out if you're out on a stroll in the Exchange District. read more

Even though I've read that Winnipeg doesn't have much of a specialty coffee scene, I wouldn't have known after stopping here for an espresso. I was on the tail end of a road trip searching for the best espressos in western North America, and after a dozen espressos in Denver, Portland, Seattle, and Calgary, at places like Boxcar, Heart, Coava, Slate, and Milstead & Co., this place showed as much uniqueness and attention to quality as the best of them. This was my savior in Winnipeg..even at closing time they were packed with downtown workers trying to get their caffeine fix! Not much around that is similar in quantity. There's no wifi, so for this American it didn't make me want to stay that long due to lack of the ability to communicate with anyone else! I think that's part of why they don't have wifi though, so good for them. Seating is limited, there's a few outside on the bench and then a handful of seats inside so I get that they won't want people lingering too long. I've only visited this particular café through astral projection. Much like other cafés of its kind, its primary selling point is minimalism. Modern with hints of sylvan influences. The staff is friendly, but there is nothing more condescending than being told to talk to my neighbor. I can't blame the staff for not having a lot of experience with astrally projected customers, but it's very difficult to place an order let alone maintain a conversation. I did not end up having any coffee because I soon realized it's also very hard to consume anything while trying to keep a perfect astral form. I am on the fence as to whether I'll visit this place on a normal plane of existence. read more
