When they first opened they were highly popular and there was quite a line in order to receive service. So I waited for the newness to wear off. Once that happened I swung by here and got a very fine boba tea. I picked the Taro flavor and liked it very much. The chewy tapioca balls were great...I always love getting those and fishing around for any stragglers once the main drink is finished. I try to get as many as I can when I'm starting out and in the middle but I usually have a fair amount left. They don't take cash. I'm not sure if that's a permanent policy or if it was a issue that they were having at the time so best be prepared with more than one payment option.

But the cost of ice cream filled dessert that was not as pictured on the advertisement and in fact questionable it was ice cream is a bit sketch. To charge premium prices for something and not deliver is not good. The service was ok, the place is clean and casual. But the prices are not worth the products purchased. Most likely we will not be back. It's just too expensive for what you get.

We were the only customers, and after ordering at the single kiosk (the employees are happy to answer questions, though), we were on our way. Classic Milk Tea, 50% Ice, 50% Sweet w/ Boba ($6.25) - The milk tea is very sweet even at half sweet, although not to the point of being cloying. It's probably equivalent of 100% sweet at the average boba shop. The tea itself is a little malty and there's a milky and caramelized flavor mixed with a slightly herbal spiced flavor. It's very foamy on top and has pretty good body. The boba is a little firmer than I like but not bad. It has a pretty good bounce, but rather than being smooth on the outside, it's quite craggy, pitted with craters. The boba is clearly sweetened well, which probably added to the base 50% sweetness. While I have cafes I prefer in Lakewood, I wanted to try something new, so I found EM Boba & Coffee after looking up places online I ordered the Vietnamese coffee with the egg cream topping. I go to quite a few Vietnamese cafes in Seattle, so I have my standards. Unfortunately, their coffee did not meet my standards at all. The coffee tasted like it was made straight from one of those Vietnamese instant coffee packets. I do drink that here and there at home, but it's not the kind of taste I want from a cafe. The egg cream was pleasant though and helped make it taste better. I probably wouldn't come back for the coffee, but I'm still interested to see what the other drinks were like.
