I have been there several times. Everything has been delicious!! The service is great. The restaurant is very clean. Kathleen has been my server a few times. She was very helpful. I had a lot of questions especially about the different teas. She helped me decide which ones to order. The Spicy Noodle/Dumpling dish Is very good. The dumplings tasted homemade. I love the garlic chili oil sauce. I ordered mixed vegetables on the side. The fried spring roll appetizer is always good. My favorite entree so far is the Basil Chicken. It's the best Thai basil chicken I've ever had. They use ground chicken instead of stir fried like most places. It goes really well with this dish. The vegetables are always fresh and there is a fried egg to top it all off. Last time I ordered the Crème Brûlée for dessert. It was excellent. It was so creamy. A newly discovered Thai venue in Spartanburg, SC. I just moved here from Saint Paul, MN and was looking for a good Asian-Thai eatery. The search was simple . . . @ Tea Star! Great service and warm hospitality from Joe and Lake (Mother and Son owners). The food was served fast and hot - authentic and flavorful. The Pad Thai was excellent! You can order based on a 1-3 spice level. We went with the 2, and just added more chili oil, along with their other hot spices available on the table. Highly recommended venue and cuisine. Also looking forward to live music entertainment as soon as things are somewhat back to normal, hopefully later this Autumn. Joe, Lake (and Catlyn, our server), thank you for the great experience! My boyfriend and I enjoy going here for lunch. The place is clean and the service is excellent. They have a variety of teas on their menu. The food selection is limited but has a lot of the common Thai dishes one typically orders. So I'm content. read more

Very nice and clean. Waitress was very nice, attentive, helpful with recommendations and answered all questions about dishes that were offered. It was a hard choice, but I had the Lakes Fried Rice. I've been hearing good things about this new place in town, so I wanted to try it out myself! It is where the old 2 Samuels used to be. It was cute and clean. Simple and minimalistic decor but quite inviting. The menu had great variety without being overwhelming. Service was great and surprisingly quick. The food was good, prepared with fresh ingredients, had lots of flavor, and portions are a good size at very reasonable prices. The basil chicken, fried rice and the pad Thai were all great! This new spot just opened in Spartanburg! It's in a great location that's along the Rail Trail and is walking distance to the Y. It has a has a nice outdoor covered patio in the front. I stopped in for a lunchtime bubble tea. The bubble tea had and awesome flavor! In addition to bubble tea they have a large selection of hot teas. I didn't get food on this trip, but will have to return soon to try their Thai menu. read more

We got the Curry Roma (dumpling curry), Tofu Pad Thai and Gemmaicha tea imported from Japan! Everything was good, and the Joe was very knowledgeable about the teas. Will definitely come back next time to try other foods, especially for boba! read more

This was our second visit to Tea Star over the span of two years. The first visit was for lunch and today's was for dinner. With both visits, the cleanliness and attentiveness of the staff were first rate, as was the ambiance. This is a very nice establishment. The presentation of the food, in both instances, was also very nice. The reason for the lower rating is that although the quality of the food was very high, all of the dishes our family ordered, during both visits, were almost completely devoid of Thai flavors. For instance, my dish this evening (Thai summer noodles) arrived with no sauce or spices at all-just plain roasted chicken, noodles and lettuce. I sent the plate back and the server told me the chef had forgotten the sauce. When it came back, it only had a mixture of soy sauce, chili oil and fish sauce. Hopefully, this is just a strange coincidence, but this is just unacceptable considering the quality of food served at other Thai restaurants nearby. read more

This is a nice Thai restaurant owned and operated by a friendly hard working family who are in that very difficult stage of trying to get a new restaurant going. We ordered takeout tonight from Tea Star and we're blown away by the flavor. Everything was delicious, the food was ready on time, and it was priced right. We got the fried spring rolls, Tom kha soup, curry Roma and pad Thai and it was all excellent. We are so happy to have a great restaurant open on this side of town! I was running on the Black Mary trail and saw the restaurant for the first time. It looked cute and sold boba tea, so I decided to walk in to order one. One of the ladies (Caucasian) at the cash register was friendly. The other worker (African-American) stared at me awkwardly and did not say hi. The owner was on his phone on the side and did not even look up to greet me or say "thank you" when I left. How did I know it was the owner? Because the cash register lady asked him if she could give me a discount since I opted out of tapioca pearls (which was nice of her). Overall, the boba tea was ok, and the customer service could be better! ESPECIALLY the owner should have done better at greeting his customers since he was there!!!! And the other stuck-up lady who mixed my drink should smile and say HI. She was NOT personable and made me feel unwelcomed. First and last time, I won't be returning!! read more
