A hidden gem in Greenville, South Carolina. This place offers groceries of a variety of food…read moreitems, kitchen ware and a authentic chinese restaurant attached. The restaurant is compact size and staff is friendly. Seated and serviced right away. Our server is very informative on the menu items when asked. Expect big groups, little wait time and get a bit loud dining in. Looks like a local favorite for authentic chinese cuisine. Served usually hot, fresh ingredients, and made delicous. Portion is generous and quality of food is suberb. Adding this to my regular must come when in SC list of authentic Chinese food. Photos does no justice. I ordered the half steam whole chicken with ginger sauce( sauce is so tasty), Pea tips and fish ball noodle soup. There all tasty. My favorite is the seasoned pea tips cooked and seasoned soooo yummy, I cant explain it if your a vegetable eater you must try it!!!!

It was ok, too much sauce and too thick. My stomach was not pleased, lol. But this place is so good, that next time I will know better and try what I have tried before or be adventurous, lol. You need to try this place in spite of my review, just maybe not the sesame chicken.

Five stars and then some…read more Lieu's Bistro is one of those rare spots where the food is excellent and the hospitality feels ancestral. You walk in hungry and leave hugged. The egg flower soup is pure comfort in a bowl. Silky ribbons of egg drifting through a golden broth that tastes like it has stories to tell. It is delicate but confident, warm without being heavy, the kind of soup that resets your whole mood. And the Szechuan salmon? Listen. Perfectly cooked, tender and flaky, wrapped in that bold, slightly spicy Szechuan glaze that dances instead of overwhelms. It has heat, depth, personality. Every bite feels intentional. What really sets this place apart is Peter and his wife. They do not just run a restaurant, they cultivate community. Every time I come in, they show me love like I am family. Not the polite, rehearsed kind. The real kind. The "good to see you again" with meaning behind it. If you want amazing food and an atmosphere that feels like home, Lieu's Bistro is it. Some restaurants feed you. This one embraces you.

Waited for someone to arrive at the hostess stand, when she arrived the lady didn't smile and welcome us, she just asked how many and follow me. Server on the other hand was very friendly and helpful from start to finish. She brought us water and took our soup order. The weekday lunch menu includes a salad/soup with a meal. The won ton soup only had one wonton and my egg drop soup was flavorless. I visited the bathroom which was extremely clean and smelled fresh. In fact all of the restaurant was extremely clean. My son mentioned this fact to a guy cleaning the dining room tables. He was doing a great job, over and above the table he cleaned the wall, seats and floor too 5/5 Entrees ordered, didn't take long. Vegetarian dish with lots of bok choy was lacking any flavor. I ordered the Almond chicken, there were a million slivers of almonds on top of shredded chicken, served with white rice. Again no flavor. Also the beef with added spice was disappointing. Such a shame as I really wanted to like this place. We ordered the Banana spring rolls with ice cream to share. It was delicious JMO as usual

It's up in a small strip mall further north on Haywood Road from Haywood Mall or across the strip from off Orchard Park Road from where Outback Restaurant is. It's not large but has all the dry staples, so many choices of rice (white, brown, sushi, sweet, etc), noodles, etc. It also has the frozen section that extends one entire wall and one of those freezer chest for the dumplings, pre-made food. The other side has the fresh vegetables and also packaged tofu, mushrooms, noodles, quail eggs, etc. I haven't gotten anything from their seafood area which one staff is there for the fish and stuff. I will go periodically to get rice noodles and glutinous rice flour. With Honey's food allergies (gluten and dairy) fortunately asian food have plenty of options but you still have to know which things do use wheat like most of the frozen dim sum yummies that I'll get for me and other family member still at home who clearly like those buns as much as me. So check the ingredients. Because it is Chinese/Lunar New Year, I will be making some CNY Sticky Rice Cake. Honey uses the same glutinous rice flour in a treat he makes for cycling fuel so figured I'd pick up a bunch. It makes me chuckle when I do, because at least movies I've seen, those packages looks like a drug issue . . But we do need to watch sugar consumption. Fun part is coming up with different dish for the Chinese New Year celebration which lasts for a couple weeks and eating . Photos showed two of our dinners and opting to reduce carbs. CNY Eve we had noodles (not pictured) that included veggies, chicken and long rice noodles representing longevity, NY night for rice cake noodles with beef, then fish ball and cake soup since was chilly. And pot stickers, baked beef bun (they sell lots of other choice), and will do the egg tart tomorrow. This isn't the nicest one I've been to, but maybe because I haven't been out as much during pandemic seems to be not as cluttered, more spacious. Masks are required and staff are wearing masks and gloves. There was hand sanitizer at the checkout line.

My staples here are fresh baby bok choy, lemongrass, soy sauces (of which they have several dozen varieties), straw mushrooms, ramen (several varieties as well), various sauces, etc. There are also some items such as teapots and cooking utensils, etc. This trip we wanted to get some canned quail eggs to make pickled spicy quail eggs. They had run out of these, but wait!, they had fresh quail eggs and we used them! The only thing that they don't have here is any live or fresh fish. Another market in town has a fishmonger in the market with both fresh and live fish, but they also have a restaurant. This is conveniently located and I would not hesitate to recommend them for their variety and interesting ingredients.
