I came here at the recommendation of a friend, and overall found it disappointing. The place is pretty humble in appearance, which I don't mind, as long as the food is dynamite, but it just wasn't. The servings were big, but the pho was oily and not as flavorful as what I'm used to. For the price, I would just prefer to go somewhere better. This place will not be a repeat for me. P.S. A no nonsense and always consistent restaurant. Ive had their combo pho which has beef, tripe, tendon and brisket. Its a warm hug on a cold day. I was really excited to try this place. There's not too many Vietnamese pho places in Greenville, so I figured the Vietnamese population would create a small special niche. Right off the bat, the hole-in-the-wall exterior gave me vibes that what was inside was where the exhaustive energy was put in the creation of the food. Flavor was really just mediocre. I noticed that the bowl was mostly soup with the small bundle of noodles and brisket portion also not as full-filling. I guess I was expecting more for a close to $20 bowl of pho. The service was also lacking. I moved to GVL from San Diego 2 months ago, where we had lots of pho. It's a favorite comfort food on cold days, and especially on days after your team gets knocked out of the NFL playoffs! I ordered the tenderloin beef and meatball pho. I'm happy to report this is legit pho! Tenderloin was sliced very thin, and meatballs were delicious. Portion size was okay, and they did something I've only seen here: they used red onions vs white onions, which worked pretty well. The service is as described in other reviews, but all pho restaurants operate this same way, in my experience. I've been going here since I was a kid, and the food has never let me down. Whenever my friends say they've never had pho, I never recommend anywhere else but Pho 99. Service is quick and easy usually, but be patient if they're busy. They have English, Vietnamese, and Spanish speaking employees, so no worries about language barriers for the most part! In town on vacation. My friend tried spicier meatball sausage soup and I got Pho Ga. Chicken soup. It was very nourishing and authentic. Just what we needed that day. Their bubble tea was suprisingly good. The avocado smoothie was super creamy and tasty and the thai tea bubble tea was really good. I would come in just for that. 5 stars!!! Pho 99 is a smaller restaurant outside of downtown Greenville. It's very easy to look past, but I sure am glad that it caught my eye. Walking in the restaurant, it was a bit busy but we didn't have to wait at all. The service was impeccable. I ordered the beef pho and was so happy with my decision. In addition to the pho, you get a side of fresh herbs, sprouts, and jalapeños to make it your own. I will absolutely be returning on my next trip to Greenville. I've eaten at a couple different pho restaurants, but this was by far my favorite. read more

Walking in only customer. Server was eating his noodle soup and watching something on his phone? I took a seat, he tossed a menu on the table and went back to his lunch and phone. No not joking. He didn't even ask what I wanted to drink? Several minutes went by no intrest from him then another woman walks in and takes a seat. A woman behind the counter has to say something to him and I have to ask for water. He seems irritated for having to do his job that said cancelled water and upon leaving told the couple walking in "good luck". I drove over 25 miles to check out this Vietnamese restaurant, as Viet food is one of my favorites. And there are no Vietnamese restaurants near the area of Hendersonville. And I've had some of the best Vietnamese food (in Philadelphia & New Jersey) to know the difference. It wasn't busy, maybe two tables eating AND the Waitstaff were friendly. But the food was not really up to par. I ordered two Vermicelli dishes so I could have a second one for the next day, and a side of Spring rolls. By the time I ate dinner a 1/2 hour later, I noticed the lettuce was brown in many spots, and some actually looked like it was bad. I ended up tossing it in my compost heap. I know times are tough all over, but if People go out of their way to eat @ a Restaurant with their hard earned money, the Chef's need to put their best food forward. Word of Mouth advertising flies fast. And I don't want to hurt any business efforts. But I work for a living too. I'm going to learn how to make Vietnamese food for myself. read more

However, Pho 99 was the only place opened near us on Sunday when we were really craving pho so we gave it a shot. I loved their pho!! I'd actually say their pho is my favorite in Greenville! The broth is more flavorful and they provide you with legit chili paste to mix in. Their menu has less variety than their neighboring Vietnamese restaurants like Mekong but they still have all the classic Vietnamese dishes like pho, cold vermicelli noodles, broken rice with a variety of meat. They also have boba tea but they're all the slushie type. I'm picky about my boba tea and don't do the ice-blended kind. - #3 Pho: SO GOOD! The tenderloin was delicious! We are new to town and had that feeling a "PHO need", we pulled up this spot on our phones to try out the menu. I always gage a good soup spot based on the reviews so with this one I had a few reservations (depending on the site it goes from a 3-4). We arrived at 1 and got a table fairly quickly, the service was friendly and the menu seemingly broad, we were primed ! Sadly when the food arrived the journey took a decided turn south and from that point on it continued to fail to impress. The PHO bowl was a bit bland, not as hot (temp) as I like it and the condiment plate was pretty weak, bean sprouts a little brown, minimal cilantro AND if you can believe it NO basil YIKES ! Our server said they were out (how this happens not sure in a PHO specialty stop). My eating companion got the noodle bowl, shrimp (not very flavorful) and pork with fried egg rolls - again not a hit. All in all, I would say if you are looking for a spot that will shout "come back" that you learn from our visit and try another spot ! read more

My usual spot was closed so I decided to try this restaurant. I started with the summer roll which were okay but really didn't have much flavor. The same goes for the pho. I thought that they were both bland compared to what I'm used to. It was just missing something but I could put my finger on what. I prepped it just as I would my pho any other time and that did not make a difference. The bean sprouts were very crunchy and that was probably to most satisfying part of the meal. I left wanting a Thai tea but I ended with a green tea boba drink because they were out of Thai tea. You can tell that they used power to make the drink. It was very chalky as if they used to much power and the boba was hard still. It seemed as if the boba was not cooked correctly. Also they charge 1.99 for regular 12oz soda can..... I can understand maybe a dollar but not almost two for a can soda. Ill stick to my usually place after going here. read more

I got the #1 (fried rolls) and the #12 (steak and brisket) and the food was delivered quickly. Great portions, great food! Greatest pho in Greenville!!! You have to try this place, it's small, nothing fancy but incredibly delicious, very close to the real deal. Their bowls are huge and super affordable.
