After doing extensive research on MPP suspension upgrades, I reached out to TDW Auto and sent a summary of my desired scope of work, my budget, and a request for feedback on whether I had the correct approach in addressing my concerns. From Will's first response, we had seamless back-and-forth conversations over E-mail and text to clarify the current setup of my car, highlight my major concerns, address these concerns with the proper MPP upgrades, and align on my budget, must-haves, and nice-to-haves. There was never once an upsell; only cautionary words of unnecessary upgrades for my use case, which is really just the daily work commute in a lowered setup for personal aesthetic purposes. My original request included MPP front upper control arms and rear traction arms with my Unplugged Performance lowering springs, along with swapping out the front lowering control arms and rear camber arms. However, Will explained that the FUCAs and traction arms served no improved performance for commuting, and that the existing springs were more of a budget-friendly fit that compromised on long-term performance due to its reliance on Tesla stock dampers. Instead, he recommended swapping out the springs for MPP coilovers, and replacing the toe arms in conjunction with the camber arms to improve upon long-term lowered car hardware wear-and-tear. I followed up with Will after our virtual exchanges to get his opinions in person. He took me out for a test ride with me in the passenger seat, immediately identifying that my dampers were squeaking noticeably and that hard cornering at highway speeds felt bumpier than it should. Additionally, he patiently answered all my technical questions over the hour I was there, and adjusted the quotation when I made the final decisions on the suspension refresh. I was trying to avoid a situation with a national retail shop that look at default settings in their system and align without questioning why or what the customer would like to achieve. I have a Tesla Model Y Performance with Mountain Pass Performance (MPP) comfort coilovers and rear camber arms. I looked all over the South Bay for an alignment shop that knows Teslas well and found the right shop. They will walk you through what you're looking to achieve (in this case for my rear wheels, they recommended less than -1 degree camber for daily driving) vs. the insane -3 degree I had before / good go track, pointless for my everyday highway driver to the office and back. OCD about details like setting tire pressures up correctly, not blindly following shop manuals, and a test drive to make sure all is in spec before delivering back the car. Owner Will is very responsive and being a car guy won't give you the run around but knows his stuff with his technician and co-founder. From setting up race spec Teslas to doing a basic daily driver friendly alignment (what I needed to stop chewing through my rear tires) this shop has you covered. I even got my date wrong and instead of turning me away, got me in at the end of the day as I was already on my way. They had a hunch there might be a dead animal inside my car and even though they've never had to deal with something like this before, they still took my car in. They popped the front plastic cover off and discovered a dead raccoon. This wasn't a normal auto repair job but I'm so thankful that Will and his team were willing to investigate. They gave me a very reasonable quote to take a look and remove the raccoon. Once they removed it, they recommended that I pick up the part from a service center since the shipping cost for the part was really high. I was able to set up a second appointment for the under tray replacement in the same week. If you have a Tesla and there's something wrong with your car, I highly recommend bringing it here. They have a good touchless tire changer machine, so if you re-painted your scratched rims with spray paint, this is the place you should go for tire service to have the best chance of not having the paint be damaged in the process. I came here after another shop scrapped the paint off one of my re-painted rims. Mike was able to do it without damaging the fragile paint. He even polished the tire machine with a rotary tool before changing my tires. I really appreciated that extra effort. read more

This review is long overdue. These guys are the best! I have a 2018 Tesla Model 3 dual motor long range. While having great acceleration, the brakes were scary weak, the steering vague and imprecise, and the suspension on par with a Chevy Malibu (really poor except for city commuting, and scary on my daily highway 17 drive). 2 years ago I had TDW install Mountain Pass Performance sport coilovers, heftier anti-sway bars, sports brake pads,DOT5 brake fluid, steel braided brake lines, brake master cylinder brace, and steering lower control arm solid bushings. The car was lowered 10mm from tesla spec. These mods completely transformed the car! It is now an extremely capable high performance sport sedan that stops on a dime and can rip up any twisty road. The guys at TDW are really great. They are practical, trustworthy, and they really know what they are doing. For 2 yrs I have enjoyed the car, then I needed to replace my rear tires (the fronts still had 6/32" tread depth). I made the mistake of having my local santa cruz tire shop install the rears. stupid me, I also had them do a 4 wheel alignment. I got the car back and it was a mess. traction control was coming on at speeds that my daughter's 25 yr old Honda accord could have handled easily. The car was all over the road needing constant steering correction, oversteering on the throttle, and twitching the rear end when letting up IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I went back to the local shop and they said it felt fine to them and declined any adjustments. I brought the car back to TDW and they re-aligned all 4 wheels. There was 50%improvement, notably the car now felt steady in a straight line, but I was still having major traction control interventions and over steer when cornering. One week later I brought the car back to TDW and they checked and said the alignment was still perfect. We were all stumped. they measured my tire tread depth and the new rears had 9/32" and the old fronts 6/32". TDW suggested rotating the tires to put the new ones on the front. MAGIC! problem solved! the car is back to perfect. not sure if this is some weird thing with Teslas. my calculations say the difference in tread depth translates to 2.5mm difference in ride height. Apparently this car does not like being lower in the front but no problem being 2.5 mm lower in the rear. Great outside the box problem solving from a fantastic performance shop! no one else will ever touch my car again! read more

They're busy here, so it took a few days and a couple of tries to get a quote and a couple weeks lead time to get an appointment. But they were efficient and professional in their dealings with me, returned all the old parts without my asking, and charged exactly what they estimated. So I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and can recommend them without hesitation based on my experience with them. They also had no issue with my bringing the parts in for them to install for me. I started hearing a clunking sound coming from the front and of my car, so I brought it to The TDW shop to check that out and I needed an alignment too. They did a great job with my alignment. Vehicle: 2021 Tesla Model Y Long Range Advan Wheels - OEM 19" dimension/specs Initial Visit: -Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs -Mountain Pass Performance Rear Toe Arms -Mountain Pass Performance Rear Camber Arms -Full Alignment Second Visit (2 weeks later): -Investigate creaking noise at front left during low speeds and turns -Disassemble/reassemble front left suspension assembly -Full alignment (discounted cost) Third Visit: -Mountain Pass Performance Corkscrew Front Upper Control Arms -Mountain Pass Performance Front Lower Control Arm spherical bearings -Full alignment Car was brought in at ~10am, and out before EOD for all visits. Unfortunately, after installing the Eibach pro kits, I had a creaking noise similar to what other Tesla owners experienced on FUCA ball joints. I brought the car in again after the springs settled to have Will's team investigate and perform alignment. Noise did not go away. I then took it to Tesla service, and they wrote me off and blamed the thicker springs. The noise bothered me, so I bit the bullet and had Will order me MPP FUCAs and LCA bearings. Less than a week later, the parts arrived and had them installed. The creaking noise is FAR LESS frequent, and when it does happen, it's a lot lower in intensity/volume. I'm now attributing this to some rubbing/binding between the spring and something else (hat/perch?). Other than the intermittent noise, I'm happy with the result. I have more feedback and feel the road, handling is more responsive and precise, but not overly harsh. I still have all the stock/OEM components if I want to revert back. I has an Unplugged Performance Pro Coilover sets installed here based on the recommendation by Unplugged. Will (the owner) scheduled me in within 2 weeks. They were very professional, finished the job within the estimated time, and charged what they had initially quoted. After driving the car a few weeks I wanted to change the settings of the suspensions to a different comfort level. Will scheduled a 30-min slot, drove around with me and help my choose the settings based on my preferences. They charged a nominal amount for the adjustment. A few months later, when some clicking noise started to come from under the car, I called Will and he was again extremely helpful. He scheduled me for a 30-min slot within less than a week. The technician was courteous, drove the car around to pinpoint the problem to the front-right suspension, and tightened the top nut to fix the problem. They didn't charge me anything this time. The Driveway is an auto shop near the Plant. When driving here, the navigation will lead you to a different location and not the shop. However just keep driving around and look for it! I came here to get my 06 Lexus IS250 fixed because my VSC light, trac light, and engine keeps on coming up and I had to fix it right away. The problem with it was a misfire. And one of the owners named Willie, suggested that I should replace all 6 of my spark plugs. If that didn't work I had to replace my ignition coils. But luckily after replacing all of the spark plugs no lights came on. (At least for now, it's been a couple days since I got it done.) When your car is being worked on and you plan to stay here and wait, there's a nice cozy waiting room area. There's also magazines to look at, free coffee,and also free wifi! This place also has a restroom too. Overall I would come here again if my car has any problems in the future. This is my new go to place for everything!
