This man is a complete scam. if You are looking to have him put in a fence. Run the opposite way. Pay the premium to have an insured fence company install. We hired him in a March and paid our 50% deposit With a signed contract to get our fence installed in April. Well he installed a few sections without caps or screwed in and never returned. In June and July he told us four times he was on his way to finish the job and never showed up. We now have been in the process of suing him since July. He is not responding to the court. Run!!!! Needed some fence posts replaced and TJ and his crew did a great job. He was very timely and was able to schedule my job very quickly. It was a very cold and windy day but his crew worked very well and got the job done. He was polite and had great suggestions. He was able to also help out a friend the same week as that day her fence had been knocked over. I can't even tell you how many times he promised to come back and fix the gate he installed because it literally fell off within 2 months of installation. TD Fence put in a cedar lattice top fence at my house in Swampscott, excellent job. On a house I own in Peabody, TD Fence was able to reuse cemented-in metal posts that supported a stockade fence when putting in a vinyl fence (which other fence installers wouldn't even estimate). I recommended him to some friends in Peabody who needed fairly extensive fencing, and again he delivered promptly, the work was well done, and the cost far less than others quoted. I don't doubt the other reviews on here, but find it odd they come from people who are identified as being from Georgia (Amanda B) and Maryland (Sam B) and other places far away. I'd really like to hear an explanation for that. I really do live here. read more

Absolutely DO NOT recommend this company. TJ cashed in on his full payment from us and never came to complete the job. We were left to find someone else to finish the job. During that process, we found out that he didn't even use the proper materials we paid for and put the gate posts at incorrect distances from standard gate sizes. He spray painted galvanized steel in our backyard for our "black" fencing, some of which damaged our personal property. We had to pay for custom gates to be welded to fix the error he made. We won in small business court against him and he has yet to pay a single $1 in the over $5,000 he owes us over the last 1+ year. Very surprised to see all the negative reviews. Our project (a fence along the back of our property) was quoted, scheduled, and completed within a very reasonable two week timespan. In fact, on install day TJ texted that he was running a little behind and would bring extra crew to ensure everything was completed on time as promised, which he did, and it was. TJ offered the lowest pricing by far of the several quotes we received. We also had quite a bit of brush and lawn debris in the area where the fencing was to be installed and they cleared it as part of the job. The other companies we receive quotes from said we'd either have to do that ourselves or they could do it for an additional fee. Would definitely recommend and hire again! read more

TD Fence installed a fence at our neighbors house and after seeing how well the team did and how the fence held up through awful weather, we decided to hire TD Fence to put a fence around the majority of our backyard. TJ showed up quickly for an estimate, was super communicative, and him and his team did the job in a quick, professional manner. We were thrilled with them and the fence they installed. We were so happy, we hired them a year later to install a small garden fence in our backyard. TJ once again showed up very quickly for the estimate, he provided examples of what fences we could use, and was very patient with me when I was trying to decide which fence to go with. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! he did a poor job with a fence for our swimming pool, promised 7 times to come and do the job correctly and never showed up. TJ lied about when he would come . Refused phone calls and it cost us money to repair his poor workmanship. He comes on with a lowball estimate and then won't respond when you try to get him to fix the poor job that was done. I have reported him to BBB and the town of Marblehead. Showed up promptly for the deposit check, then no-showed at least three times. Left us with half the job done, no fence caps, beat the heck out of our lawn and flowers (somewhat expected), and the work done didn't even equal the 50% deposit we put down. As others have stated, TJ Dever was prompt and responsive before getting our downpayment and up to scheduling, but then promptly never showed up to do the actual work (and never bothered to communicate missed start dates). He no-showed 6 times in total, and only showed up the one time I saw the man after we asked for a refund. Even then, he was 6 hours late and did 15 minutes of "work" before mysteriously disappearing without a word. We were saved from losing our deposit only because we paid via credit card, and our CC company was able to directly repossess the funds from his account (though it took months). We were initially duped by good reviews on the Swampscott facebook group, but it turns out negative reviews there are immediately deleted by a (complicit?) group administrator. STAY AWAY!! Thomas (TJ) Dever, aka TD Fence, is a con company. He cashed $4200 worth of checks in the beginning of November for a fence install (total $7000) in December. The agreement was that he would install the fence in December. We texted a couple of times in December talking of weather, and he stated he hoped there would be good weather days soon to install my fence. I agreed. I then did not hear from TJ until April 4th via email asking me if I am ready to have my fence installed with the nicer weather. I responded right away that I have been ready since December, and asked him about cutting down my trees along the fence. TJ responded right away that he would be in touch the next day to schedule the fence install. I did not hear from TJ again. I emailed him May 5th stating that since has not reached out to me - again - to install my fence, I am requesting a full refund (which did not include the interest I have lost since he has been sitting on my money for now almost SEVEN MONTHS), and that I will be hiring a more reliable and trustworthy contractor. TJ responded to that email stating that he "thought" I wanted to wait on the install to which I responded I have been "waiting" since December and have never asked him to delay. TJ also texted asking me to call him. I ignored the text and responded to TJ I would like my money returned in full. On the evening of May 5th, TJ stated "no problem" and that he would stop over "the next week" to give me a check. It is now May 24th, and I have reached out to TJ via email on May 8th, May 20th and May 23rd, along with a text stating I will speak to my attorney if he does not return the money on May 24th. I have not had a response from him. Check the BBB. He has done this to numerous people and doesn't pay them back for bad, unreliable service. I will be filing a police report, have gone to the AG and will go to the news stations next, and lastly have reached out to my attorney to discuss a lawsuit. read more
