I hired Axel Landscaping Company to replace a fence post and two panels. Per our agreement, all…read morematerials were to be pressure-treated wood. When the installer, Axel, arrived, I asked him several times to verify the material, and he repeatedly confirmed the material was pressure-treated while on-site. The following day, a neighbor who is a contractor informed me that the panels installed are actually untreated pine. That has also been confirmed by Home Depot employee. I contacted Axel to request that he fulfill the original contract by installing the correct pressure-treated panels. While he acknowledged the discrepancy, he refused to rectify the situation. I will never hire Axel company again. The fence post is covered with a lot of mildew. Axel has used the cheapest materials.

Posts…read morewere cut short and buried only 18", most with only 1 bag of concrete or less, only surrounding the post about halfway, so they came loose. Panels too close to the ground have rotted. Steel bars were hammered in next to some posts and bolted on, so that tells me these posts were too wobbly to support the fence right from the start. They should have dug them up and done it right. Even doing it right on 1/2 of the posts would have been enough to support the fence, but they cut corners on EVERY post.

I typically get 2-3 quotes but after my 3rd quote a friend recommended Stratton Fence. Owner Shawn was extremely quick and hassle free with the quote. Pricing matched my lowest quote. Between the four companies I was quoted 7.5k - 10k. Last year I got ripped off from the landscaper we hired to level my yard, clean the perimeter, build a couple walls and put down grass (NPA Masonry). Needless to say, my yard is nowhere near perfect. I have tons of rock that they had to dig around, in one area they had to work through brush and the yard is not level. I was told from another contractor to beware of having to owe money at the end. That did not happen. The price was the price. They showed up very early in the morning and worked straight through until around 3-4pm. If I did not look outside, or go outside, I would not even know they were there. Both men (owner and employee) were kind and quiet (not that noise would have bothered me but it does some people). They worked 3 or 4 days then had a couple days off while they waited for the gates to be delivered (to them). Upon the delivery they came back to install the gates over a couple hours. I went outside, the gates were installed and they were gone. Easiest contractors I have ever worked with.
