The Amherst branch is amazing, and always has been. They treat you better than your friends and family do.

This bank is a disaster. The fee schedule is insane, they will fee you and your account to death. Hold onto your money, bank somewhere else!

Although I opened my accounts up at other NBT locations in NY and MA, I have recently ended up at…read morethe Nashua branch on a couple of occasions for transactions. Ive used a teller to handle either deposits that I did not want to put through an ATM or some other transaction like a bank check. The tellers have always been outgoing, friendly and efficient. Its worth noting that the customer service by this branch's staff is exceptional. On one notable occasion I had to get a sizable bank check and the teller was fairly new and still training. Unbeknownst to me they had given me the check without a signature on it. I left the bank and had already driven away when the bank manager called my cell to ask me to return and get the check signed. They were very apologetic and handled the situation professionally. The way in which they handled it actually left me with a positive impression that overshadowed the inconvenience of the original mistake. This location is on main street in downtown Nashua. Parking is either metered street parking or the city garage. ATM is the "enhanced" kind that does not require envelopes for deposits. If youre in the area looking at banking options, I recommend NBT. They are a little bigger than a local but smaller than the mega giants.

She doesn't seem to want to help or even know what she is doing at times. Also says she will check things out and call you. This is just to get rid of you as she never calls. First off, I must say that this review is mostly about the company as a whole. The staff at the…read moreMilford branch are very friendly and as helpful as they can be but have very limited ability to do much of anything. Too bad the upper management and corporate structure aren't similarly focused! This company has US corporate offices based in Providence, Rhode Island as is a subsidiary of RBS (the Royal Bank of Scotland) Group. This bank, by the way, was one of the many bailed out during the financial meltdown of 2008 & 2009 by taxpayers of both the US and UK among others. They were less than truthful about their dealings in the sub-prime mortgage market. This is THE MOST impersonal institution I've personally ever dealt with. Not sure what a standard customer is like but we had our mortgage, two checking accts and our joint savings acct, both my children had savings accounts here, and I even had a business checking, business credit card and commercial line of credit with them! Every month for over 10 years I would get these promotional slips with any one of these statements telling me how as a valued customer, Citizens will go out of its way to give me the best rates and banking options. I opened up a checking account in the NH corporate office in Manchester in 2001 and got a construction loan from them in 2002. Because this is the closest branch to our home, we always did our banking here from 2002 on. After finishing the house in 2004 and converting our construction loan to a residential mortgage, I thought I had just finishing jumping through every hoop a banking establishment would put in front of me. Well, was I wrong!! Well, when rates started to go down, we gave that offer a try. Turns out Citizens had the HIGHEST rates of any of the banks, brokers or credit unions we contacted. So I went back to them to let them know that they were falling short and the loan officer was unable to do anything. Needless to say, we got a much better offer with another institution and moved our mortgage. Well, shortly after that Citizens changed our free checking to a FEE checking because we no longer had our mortgage with them. You know, when customers start cutting back on your services, why don't you go out of your way to offer them benefits and bonuses to get them to do MORE business with you?? Well, for this bank the motto is, sign 'em up for as many as possible. link them all together and tell them that all their benefits hinge on keeping this house of cards standing. Change or move a card and the whole thing crumbles and you will get hit with penalties and fees! That seems awful regressive to me. During this same time period, there was a new movement afoot to switch your banking from large institutions to a small community-based banks. It took us a while to get our act together but we then moved our checking to a local credit union. Our savings account then had fees imposed!! Explain this to me? So all the personal accounts were moved and I started studying the benefits of keeping my business banking here. End result -- nothing! Unless you count innumerable fees! Got plenty of those. I felt truly bad telling the tellers I was closing the accounts and their first question was if there was anything they could do. I'm sure they would love to be able to make the customers happy AND save their jobs, too bad it is all beyond their ability with this company! These tellers are local people who live in the community and will most likely lose their jobs because of this really poor and greedy business decision. Seems to me very similar to what the insurance companies are doing now with national healthcare looming in front of them -- grab as much cash as you can now, cause it's all going away soon! Most recently I was in this branch on Tuesday, June 12th and dealt with the Bank Manager (named Trisha). Well while I was sitting in her office for no more than 15 minutes while she banged away at her computer, I witnessed one of the long term tellers (who I previously thought was the bank manager, because of her "can do" attitude) actually act in a grovelling way toward Trisha --who was obviously between 10-20 years younger than the teller. Then I watched the elderly loan officer kowtow to this uptight, curt and dismissive manager. It was almost too much for me to witness. The lack of courtesy this manager showed to the staff and her impolite attitude was so very telling of the upper management structure!!! Well this customer has found a happy home at St. Mary's where they actually jump through hoops for me! Imagine that! They offer accounts with NO FEES, are freely making loans to those that qualify and helping their customers with new businesses have every benefit that they offer to ensure business growth resulting in larger deposits and profitable loans. Everyone is friendly to me and each other (so far). Can't see why I would go back to the impersonal, rude and costly treatment again... Bank elsewhere...
