I love this bank! I don't know why anyone would use a large impersonal bank when you can get so…read moremuch better service and lower fees here. You can get through to people on the phone and it's a real employee who actually tries to solve your problem not an overseas telecenter reading off a script. Also Middlesex savings bank has much lower fees than I found elsewhere. For example when using the debit card overseas they give you the exact exchange rate unlike many large banks which will gouge you with fees and an exchange rate in their favor. I don't know of any other bank that has such a good rate for overseas charges as just one example. Also they're fairly careful about the security of accounts unlike many large banks.

Their customer service is absolutely top notch…read more They have a feel of a small town bank where everyone knows your name and the confidence of a city bank. Though their location is no longer very convenient to me, I would not change banks in a heartbeat. When I first moved to town I was lost and late for a doctor's appointment in the area. I wandered inside because I had just opened an account two days earlier. The same person who opened my account took his time to give me directions to where I was going and even called the doctor's office to let them know I would be late (I didn't have a cell phone yet). Last weekend, my online checking account was possibly compromised (not due to their error). They were able to close my old checking account, open a new one, give me new checks for free, credit outstanding checks to my new account, and re-instate my online banking all on a Saturday. Beyond their customer service, they offer free checking and fantastic interest rates. They are also a part of the SUM network.
