I would rate this company with a minus 10 if I could. I took over two computers and an external hard drive. I needed to have the data from one computer moved to the external hard drive. That never happened, even after several months, and my external hard drive has vanished, completely gone. They totally deny it. Secondly, the one computer had a broken screen on it - that was supposed too have been replaced. NO WAY AT ALL!!!!!! It is exactly the same as when I took it in. It is still broken and unusable. The attitude of the people in the store was uncompromising even though they had not repaired it. They dictated to me that I would have to purchase a new screen rather than their fixing it as they were supposed to do. They told me the owner would have to be called, and he was not available on the weekends. They were adamant! A second employee came out and told me I had to leave because they would not repair it as had been paid for. In addition, I had called them earlier before driving way over to their store which is most difficult to find parking, etc. They do not stand behind their work. Perhaps they know how to do cell-phone repair, but they are completely inadequate when it comes to repairing computers or changing screens. I feel this store is a scam, at least for computers. I went in to have an iPad charging port fixed. They fixed it fine but broke the screen in the process. I was told this was common and happens often so I would need to replace the screen as well. They needed to order the part so it would be 4 days. I went ahead and took the ipad home since I figured I may as well find a good deal elsewhere since I had to pay to replace the screen now. Went to a local business who let me know that it is NOT common for a screen to be broken in the process of replacing the charging port--as a matter of fact it's careless. I called the business back and asked about this. I asked to speak to the owner or whoever is in charge and left several messages. No response. It has been almost 6 months and after being really bitter about this whole experience I will be going elsewhere to get this screen replaced. Never again. read more

Ok, so... a few days ago... my phone decided to go for a swim... I turned it off.. And hoped it hadn't drowned... when I began to try and turn it on... uh oh... a sinking feeling set into my soul... This place is TERRIBLE I had the batteries and one port changed on my phone and my sons phone. We were flying out for vacation that night and they installed a defective battery in my sons phone. My son went the whole vacation without a phone. We purchased a new phone when we got back from vacation. I tried to work with TCR to refund us the price of the battery. We of course would pay for the other services TCR provided. TCR always had an excuse and I finally just disputed it with my credit card company. A local phone repair chain (Batteries Plus) tested the battery on the phone and it tested defective. It was a cheap Chinese battery not an original Apple battery. They replaced the battery and charged me the same amount. Batteries Plus was nice enough to write a letter for me that I submitted to TCR but they still were DISHONEST and would not return my money. Please help me punish TCR and take your money elsewhere!!!!! read more

The other day my husband's phone stopped charging. We took it here to be fixed expecting to pay over $100. However, the staff member took a look, cleaned the charging port on the phone and did not charge us. We were out within 5 minutes. A year and a half ago my iPhone 5c was run over by a car with the screen face down. Needless to say, the screen was completely destroyed, but the phone was functional enough for me to back it up and download photos to my computer. I put it in a drawer, forgot about it, and got a new phone. I was recently looking to buy a new iPod for running/workouts and remembered my old phone which could serve that purpose. I read some of the other positive yelp reviews about TCR and decided to stop in and have them look at it. The location in Chapel Hill is super nice and I was greeted immediately by an employee. I explained my situation and asked if they could take a look inside the phone to see if just the screen was broken or if other internal parts were damaged. If it was just the screen then I'd replace it; if there was more damage I'd sell the phone to them for parts. Within a few minutes the technician brought me the phone, showed me there was no internal damage, and that it was working fine with a new screen and LCD display. I didn't want to drop a whole lot of money on an older phone I was just going to use for music and tracking my runs. Luckily, TCR has a Groupon available and also offers discounts to UNC students (10% on service and 20% on merchandise). The technician was nice enough to show me a comparison of the discounts (you can't combine them), and I went with the UNC discount which saved me a few more dollars than the Groupon. Although it was still more than I wanted to spend, I now have a fully functional phone, and the repairs only took 10 minutes. The employees at TCR are very accommodating to your individual situation. They provide great customer service and help explain the problem with your phone and the different options to fix it. I recommend them to anyone with a phone issue. UPDATE: 10 days later, there is a faint line across part of my screen that is slightly discolored. The screen registers "touches" that I'm not making and often opens random apps. I will be contacting TCR when they are open again and requesting a refund. This is incredibly disappointing. Part of my iPhone touchscreen stopped working, so I dropped my phone off for a replacement screen. The replacement is a little thicker than the old iPhone screen - I can feel a lip around the edge where there wasn't before. The responsiveness is not great, and the phone often does not register my touch. For the money, I'm disappointed that the phone feels less functional now than it did when a small part of the original screen wouldn't respond to my touch. Cracked my screen once and I took it to them to fix. Once I got home I realized the led screen wasn't working so they told me to take it back and they would fix it. Get there that same day and they ran out of lcd screens so I had to come back another day. Fast forward to a few months later I crack my screen again. I call to make sure they have screens at the store and they said they did. I get there and he breaks the screen while putting it on my phone. I had to wait an hour for them to go get another screen. Not only that but after I left I realized he put the screen protector on crooked which was messing up my camera so I had to take it back again just for him to fix. He never apologized and acted like it was my fault that it was messed up. Update: owner called and offered me a refund for the screen. He was very respectful and polite. read more

I'm honestly really disappointed. The screen they gave me is really, really bad. I turn my phone to the side a little and the screen immediately becomes yellow and its TERRIBLE at sensing my thumbprints. They're not much cheaper than an Apple Store and I wish I'd gone there instead. Don't get the tempered glass either, it'll just make it harder to use.
