shipping a car stinks. it's hard to get any transparency about the process. as i understand it, in the vast majority of situations, you're basically hiring a broker to go on central dispatch or similar, list your car, and get a carrier to match their bid. if they underquote, the car sits, because carriers will take the higher paying jobs. i'm not an expert and i might be mistaken, but i'm guessing the price differences between brokers reflect both (a) how big their fee is but also (b) how much they're bidding (and by extension how much you're paying the carrier for prioritization/to get your car loaded faster). i'm guessing the bigger brokers may have some negotiated relationships with carriers (or their own carrier business) that also factor in. i bought a car from a dealership out of state and needed it shipped home because i didn't want to fly and drive. because covid. car was in a small coastal city and i wanted it delivered to near chicago. not the most common route, as i understand it. tci came in at just about the lowest quote for the job. i was a little wary but saw they had a lot of reviews on google, transportreviews and BBB so i decided to take the chance. I emailed with Rob and he gave me a call. he said the quote might be a little low but he thought the car could get picked up within 3 days (otherwise i could just cancel) and that he'd be in touch. car wasn't picked up within the 3 days. but they didn't hide the ball and didn't make any excuses (though they could've pointed out that it's not the most common route). i could've gone to a different broker. Rob kept trying, and he got the car delivered within a week of my signup. it even wound up shipping enclosed at no additional cost to me. your mileage may vary, but i had a very good experience with TCI and would use again. read more

They shipped a ramcharger for me from NJ to CA and punchered a right front tire and then hooked the grill and bent it beyond repair and very obvious. They took pictures of the whole truck upon picking it up and clearly showing No damage of grill or torn sidewall of tire . But apon receiving it was clearly wrecked. Calling management and reporting this with their own pictures and dening it blaming it on the company they hired not me. Both parties saying either should pay for it but neither doing so!! Sadly they lost a Great Return Customer. Sadly that they aren't professional enough to admit there responsibility of a shipper when things go wrong. My nightmare began when I was put in contact with the driver transporting my car from MA to FL. While loading my car onto the truck, the driver completely burned out my clutch--not once, but twice. The first time, I noticed a strong burning smell, which was already concerning. But on his second attempt, heavy smoke poured into the car's interior. When I confronted him, he casually dismissed it, claiming the car was fine. I immediately messaged my agent, who downplayed the issue, saying he'd arrange a backup driver but also claimed that a "smoking clutch is fine." Anyone with even basic car knowledge knows that's absolutely false--a burned clutch is serious damage, costing thousands to replace. I demanded to inspect the car and requested insurance details, but the agent started ghosting me. On the day of delivery, I told the driver I needed a test drive before handing over payment. I had a motorcycle shipped by them. I would not recommend. They broke the chain on the bike in transport. They chains are very heavy duty and I really don't even know how that is possible. I called company, they gave me a pick up window of 3 days, ended up being 6 days. Told them I would take any spot on the trailer except the rear spot, was told that wouldn't be an issue. Beware of these guys! TCI is a low-end "no guarantee" transport brokers with horrible customer service that own no trucks of their own, which means that they are using 3rd party truckers and basically feel zero reasonability to honor any pre-arranged bookings in case that they are unable to find a track to fulfill your reservation. We booked a round-trip transfer of our family car from NJ to Miami and back. TCI barley made the pickup date from NJ and only after several calls and multiple reminders they were able to identify a run-down truck to pick up our car, which arrived to Miami 2 days later all covered with oil stains that required professional cleaning to remove. That was actually the successful part of our experience with TCI! Two months later, on the scheduled return week, and keeping our previous experience in mind, we called 3 times in advance to make sure that the pick up will take place as scheduled and to remind them that we are leaving Miami on a flight the following morning and cannot have our car stay in Miami by itself as we will be back in NJ. We were assured that everything is on schedule and that we should hear back from a driver that will be assigned to transfer our car. Our concerns grow by the hour as we received no call back and had to reach out to TCI again the morning of our last day in Miami, just to be assured that they are "working on this" and we should hear back from them shortly with a solution. Only in the afternoon of our last day, the owner (Kaleb) admitted that he is unable to find any drivers to pick up our car and went immediately on the attack claiming that this is our problem as "we should have taken into consideration that this was Easter weekend and many drivers took the weekend off" and also added that "we are a very problematic and un-flexible customer for not having someone to leave our car with in Miami until they figure a solution". Needless to say, that this uncalled-for response was totally rude and unacceptable as the booking was made 3 months in advance and we made it super clear that the car must be picked by the last day of our stay as we have no one to take care of it when we are back in NJ. As we were left with no other solution and were provided with zero accommodation or an alternative solution by TCI, we had to cancel our flight back and start a 1,200-mile road-trip back to NJ. Putting aside the horrible experience we just went through, what really struck us was the complete luck of empathy and customer care and the attempt to put this all situation on us as a "difficult" client. We will be going after TCI to claim our monetary damages (flight tickets, fuel, hotel, tolls), but want to make sure that others avoid this nightmare. read more

I shipped my car with TCI Logistics. Things started out smooth with the deposit and pickup, but on the delivery date I received a text that the car was 4 full days behind schedule due to "bad luck." Then 4 came and went and on day 5 I struggled to get a response and still did not receive any information as to where the vehicle was and when it would be delivered. Following texts as to if the vehicle should be reported stolen with insurance and FMCSA, I finally got a response and the car was delivered the next day, 6 days after the originally planned delivery date. "Bad luck" happens, but the choice to not communicate that to me so I could plan accordingly was very frustrating. The "contract" sent with the deposit says very little about timeline, deliverables, and cost. Rob @ TCI Logistics completely let me down on shipping my vehicle. I reached out weeks before shipping - initially, communication was great and it sounded like we'd have no problem. I was flying from CA to PA, and was waiting on a definite date to ship so I could book a return ticket. Rob found a driver within the window that I provided (although it was extremely short notice given that we began communicating weeks prior) and told me Sunday, so I immediately booked a return ticket. Moments after booking, I was told that it was Monday, not Sunday. While this was in the original window, it was now after my flight. After this, Rob's communication went downhill. I was practically begging for an update, found family to come assist in shipping on Monday... total radio silence and we went past the date that I flew home. After a week of silence I actually texted Rob looking for a little decency, maybe a "sorry we missed the window" message... the response was 'you gave us a 4 day window and we're still looking for a driver and will have it finalized tomorrow'.
