We came to Mayhem Comics and Games because of a recommendation from a friend. We are SO happy we stopped. I can't speak for my husband, but this is officially my favorite store on our journey. We stopped in to pick up some sleeves for one of our card games, The Mind Extreme. The sleeves we had purchased back home were too big and we wanted to sleeve it to play this past weekend while we were in Des Moines and Ankeny. We walked in and one of the owners (?) walked us over to "The Sleeve Wall." They had just about any size you could need. He personally helped us find the right ones. While my husband browsed through Magic cards and games, I stopped into the comics section. I was very impressed with the variety, organization, quality, and quantity of the comics! I could have spent HOURS looking at them all. We were in a rush, so we didn't have much time to browse. I can say that we will DEFINITELY be back. I would recommend this store to anyone stopping in the area. Any age. Any interest. Definitely worth checking out!

I was told they could only exchange them for the exact same product, but since that item wasn't in stock I'd have to contact the manufacturer myself. I wasn't asking for a refund, just an exchange or store credit for an item that was defective on day one. Most retailers stand behind the products they sell, especially when something fails immediately. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience here, so I can't recommend shopping at a place that doesn't take responsibility for defective items.

They have a nice selection of gaming items on their shelves, but if you have something you want that they don't have, they'll immediately order it for you, have it in stock quickly, and communicate with you the whole way through. Took Funkos in that I didn't care about but knew the pricing, as an experiment, just to see how bad…read morethey really are. I've had bad interactions in the past. They took over $300 in Funkos for $60 without a per item desription of what they were paying per item. When I asked to see which ones he took ( they were stacked away in the corner) he hesitantly moved a couple and showed me the lower end ones. (Not the chases worth 40+ each.) I still sold because I wasn't done experimenting. I then called the next morning to see what the prices were (as an alias) and the top 4 magically were not there. My hypothesis is that they backdoor the ones they would like personally all while completely fucking you over. I would never sell to jays. I would never buy from jays. My loss is hopefully a warning to all others.
