I will always have pleasant memories of Buon Giorno. With a view fronting Taal Volcano (get there early or make a reservation so you can get a table outside), there's nothing much that can top good Italian food and a hot cup of coffee with the cool Tagaytay breeze blowing around you. My personal favorites are Buon Giorno's risottos, specifically their salmon and sausage ones. Not too dry but not too moist, with just enough meat so you don't feel like you're just eating wet rice. Oh, and just like a lot of other good Italian places, fresh unli-bread while you're waiting for your food is a big, big plus.

We didn't even go to Antonio's. I would have lamented the fact had Buon Giorno not stepped up to console me. First times always have the greatest impact, and just so everything is clear, I have patronized Buon Giorno since and there were hits and misses. But that first time was perfect. The lamb was cooked to perfection, the salads crisp and bright, and the drinks were refreshing and well-concoted. The interiors are really pretty without screaming for attention. While it's not exactly a place people go to see quirky decor, the restaurant is tastefully and interestingly designed. The pastels and somewhat shabby chic interiors make everything feel cozy despite the slightly cramped restaurant floor. If you prefer to eat al fresco, they have many tables outside. View + fantastic food = worth the drive.

There are a lot of reasons I'm glad I'm alive, and one of them is Restaurant Verbena. One really can't expect anything less than wonderful from the restaurant of one of Tagaytay's premier luxury bed and breakfasts, so I have been longing to try their take on country fare with a local twist. I certainly wasn't disappointed with our meal, which started with their mozzarella and tomato starter, served fondue style with warm focaccia. We then had Caesar salad, which was interesting because the lettuce leaves was still intact with the stem (not entirely sure if it's called the stem though). We chopped the leaves and mixed the dressing and thin slices of cheese before devouring the delectable salad. For our mains, we had their brick chicken, which as we were told is cooked in a pan and having a hot brick placed on top of it for it to have its distinct flavor. It's served with sweet potato puree and a mix of capers and sundried tomatoes that was incredibly yummy. As if that wasn't enough, we got the black truffle mushroom risotto with bits of bacon. Goodness gracious, it was one hell of a dish. To end our meal, I felt like I had prima ballerinas dancing in my mouth when I devoured their chocolate marquise with pistachios, which was a cross between a chocolate mousse and a creamy ganache.

It was cooked medium and I guess I shouldn't ordered medium to begin with and a steak on a filipino guised italian restaurant. We visited it for our anniversary, and the Italian bistro interior was truly captivating. They had some watercolor advertisement prints, a nice wine rack, and other touches to sell the bistro atmosphere. The supervisor, Mark, was extremely engaging, and along with our server, Aira, made sure that our visit was stellar. We enjoyed talking with Mark very much. We chose to eat the spinach and artichoke dip, the mozzarella sticks, and two fourteen-inch pizzas. I LOVED the pepperoni pizza. It had a spicy, addictive sauce that really gave it oomph. The assorted meat pizza was great, but I'm not the biggest fan of Canadian bacon. It was still delicious but didn't wow me as much as the pepperoni did. The thin crust delivered on its promise: tender dough under the toppings with a crisp, cracker like crust. We truly enjoyed the experience. The dip had this baked cheese crust that really elevated the taste, and was served with fluffy, flour tortilla, fried chips. This dish was my second favorite next to the pepperoni pizza. The mozzarella sticks were also amazing, with what seemed like hand breading. I'm used to the kind of mozzarella sticks you get in diners, so these sticks tasted a bit... classier? I think that's how I'd describe it. Anyway, I invite you to give Mama Lous in the Nuvali Solenad Mall a try. I think you'll be happy you visited.

This place was like a plaza of some of the good ones in Tagaytay. So we ordered one of Carlo's Pizza. We wanted the Quatro Formaggi, which is Italian for Four Cheese and the Abruzzi, which is a region in Italy. We also ordered Potato Wedges with cheese and bacon plus a mushroom soup. What I loved the most about our meal was the Quatro Formaggi. It was indeed a blend of four premium cheese. Not only that, it was also packed with the right seasonings and herbs. A bite into the pizza did not taste like four different cheese flavors and seasonings. A bite of Their Quatro Formaggi was a different taste in itself. The mix of the ingredients contributed to a different experience; a very tasty one. Definitely one of the best pizzas I have tried. The mushroom soup also made me happy. It was creamy and had the right mix of flavors. The Abruzzi on the other hand, I found okay. The meat on the pizza was alright but personally, I would have preferred a more balanced pizza: one that has the right amount of meat and veggies in it. I guess the pizza lacked a certain texture and taste that the veggies give. The Potato wedges were standard. There were bacon bits and cheese that tasted like this commercially produced cheese spread. Aside from all the food. Carlo's Pizza in Tagaytay also hasa nice view overlooking The Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. I wouldn't mind enjoying my delicious pizza with a view of nature's creation to go with it, not to mention the history behind it. (If you have a knack for history or just want to find out about the lake and volcano, just ask anyone from Tagaytay.) Carlo's Pizza already has a lots of branches in the Metro. I will definitely remember this place for their Pizza. I also want to come back and try their other pizzas and pastas that look really good.
