The place has clearly had some upgrades and looks beautiful, even though there was still construction happening during our visit. What really stood out was the staff. They noticed we were bothered by the noise and kindly offered to move us to another section, which made a big difference. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and just all-around great. As for the food and drinks, the blueberry cheesecake was the star of the table. We also enjoyed Chardonnay and coffee, both of which paired nicely with the relaxed atmosphere. Overall, it was a solid experience and still one of our favorite stops in Tagaytay.

I was let down by the poor service we received during our time here at Bag of Beans. We ordered refillable Houseblend coffee and Kapeng Barako, but we were not able to really maximize the bottomless option. The servers were not as visible during our stay there, and we constantly had to call for one's attention. The servers can also be better trained to roam more frequently and be available for assistance. Another issue and big dissapointment I had was the Cold Brew Lemon & Mint they have in their menu. I don't think I will be alone to assume that this beverage will also be locally brewed and prepared like their coffee, but unfortunately that was not the case. The cold brew order turned out to be just a glass of cold water with a tea bag sachet branded Ahmad Tea London. To top it all off, the cold water mug they served has an ant in it. I had to request for a new mug, but the replacement mug of cold water also took too long to arrive. It was at least good enough that they have a good overlooking view going for them to soften the blow of bad service we experienced during our time.

Reserve a table on the outside terrace for the best experience and avail of their bottomless ICED TEA the best I've had so far, it's super refreshing. Crispy Crablets (220 PHP) Order this for a good start. It won't disappoint. Crispy Tawilis (210 PHP) The Tawilis sardines are found only in the Taal Lake. This is a must order when visiting Taalena. Ensaladang Talong (135 PHP) A fresh and healthy dish that you eat in between the rest of their food. I find it as a good palate cleanser. Kare Kare (450 PHP) The sauce was thin and could use some improvement, which I'm sure has improved with our suggestions. Crispy Pata (595 PHP) Decent crisp and meat to bone ratio, and enough flavour to be considered good. It remained crispy despite the wind and cool weather which should consider when dining in Tagaytay in general. Tortang Talong (215 PHP) It's not going to be something you'd remember or even rave about it's just that ordinary with an elevated price. So the food isn't the best in Tagaytay, but don't let that discourage you from experiencing their wonderful ambiance. They have a band that goes around each table playing various melodies from the oldies to the current hits. It's a nice addition to their already outstanding atmosphere. They even a large green space on the lower floor for kids to run around and play.

Unlike most if not all Filipinos I know, I do not need or eat rice with every meal, so I tend to go for burgers, sandwiches and such. The restaurant has a Texas Roadhouse feel with dark wood interiors, and the staff fully embraces the theme with cowboy hats, boots, and jeans. The menu is extensive, offering everything from steaks and ribs to burgers, seafood, and Tex-Mex, and the portions are generous. We ordered the grilled salmon and the ribeye. Both entrées looked great, but the flavors were milder than expected. The salmon needed salt, the green beans tasted different from what we're used to, and the "dirty rice" was more like sweet fried rice than the Cajun-style version back home. The ribeye and fries also benefited from extra seasoning. Ironically, the mashed potatoes and gravy ended up being the star of the meal and we found ourselves dipping just about everything into the gravy. The sweet tea also missed the mark for us, tasting more like powdered instant tea than the brewed Southern sweet tea we were expecting. That said, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes, making it a great value for families or larger groups. Overall, it's a fun place to get a filling meal after a day at the beach. Keep in mind that the flavors are more locally adapted than authentically Texan.

But you know there's just something about having chicken fried steak, hash browns, and sunny side up eggs for breakfast that just brings a smile to your face!
