You think you know plants until you meet Maureen! She's an expert! We could not have had a better overall experience--communicated well about timeline and was thorough in the design. Our expectations were way beyond met and love seeing our new yard. Can't wait to see how it will continue to grow ofer the next few years. Also--a neighbor that lives across the street a few doors down told us our new landscaping just increased his house value by 5k. read more

Referral from my realtor. Last fall I sent several emails with extremely slow responses and no luck obtaining a quote. I assumed my timing was off so I tried again this spring. Again poor communication. Chasing someone to get back to me to schedule a visit didn't give me the warm and fuzzies so I emailed Katie the office manager and I received back timely I might add, "good luck with your project." I was warned by my realtor, but because Maureen Taylor is local, I gave it my best shot. Very unprofessional. Beware!!!! read more

I found out about this business through several local neighborhood chat groups. I'm a local realtor and interior designer so I have bought standards (and lots of opinions) about projects like these. I have had nothing but the best rapport, support, design and install from Maureen and her team. They undertook a huge front and back yard project. We completely relandscaped the front of my 115 year old bungalow with a lush perennial garden (and added in some of my mature plants from elsewhere on the property). We carved out two huge new beds and they are chock full of plants I love. We did a complete gut of my hard scape in the rear yard, created a beautiful walkway and patio for my new pergola and a second for my dining table and relandscaped the entire backyard and expanded a huge sun loving perennial bed and added trees and some landscape lighting and a shade bed too. Simply stunning! read more

Maureen and her crew are great! We began our relationship with my desire to expand my backyard patio. We also had a lot of overgrown perennials that needed thinning, and the front beds had been terribly ignored since they were planted 30 years ago. She looked things over, took pics, and the rest is history. A beautiful paver patio, and gorgeous plants at a reasonable price. Her crew are really great. Highly recommend! read more

Yard looks beautiful, and we got detailed directions on how to get everything growing strong!

We have used Maureen for over 10 years. Her work is always magnificent ! She is super creative and always gives a complete explanation of her vision. The work is always done on time and on budget. No surprises. I HIGHLY recommend using Taylor Made. read more

Wonderful experience working with Maureen from design, pricing, to actual work to create a zen walkway for my front/side yard. Have already received many compliments for my new yard (definitely Instagram worthy). Will definitely use Taylor Made again for my back yard down the road. read more

We are in love with our new patio. We were amazed at the high level of craftsmanship and extensive effort required to execute the design. These aren't just guys laying pavers, they are truly patio artists. And they worked around the landscaping with the care of a gardener. Project manager Rodrigo could not have been more polite, kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. Thank you Maureen for shepherding us through the process, using your expertise to advise us of the "can'ts" and "cans", and doing a great job of patting my hand whenever it was required. Please know this review is 100% true and from the heart. It was the dream experience where you are confident the job will be worked out to your complete satisfaction by contractors who really know what they are doing. read more

We had a mud bowl going on in our backyard. Maureen came and made suggestions for patio pavers. showed us many choices from least to most expensive. She had a few suggestions, like a trim around the paved areas, that were much appreciated. She got us in early due to a cancellation. The crew did an excellent job, very professional and quick. out job was done in 2.5 days. Maureen suggested we wait on getting sod as it was too far into the hot summer months already. So we'll do that in the coming months. read more

*UPDATE ON MY UPDATE* You can see Maureen's reply. She's called her actions "responsible landscaping," implying she didn't want to do anything that might impede my ability to sell my house as planned. Here's the thing, I wasn't asking for an opinion or consultation on curb appeal, I was looking for a someone to do work I didn't have time to do (selling a house is busy work). Since she opted not to do the job and wasted my time, my wife and I decided to do the work we had in mind on our own. Took us a weekend we didn't have to spend. And guess what. We put our house on the market, signed a sale two days later for more than our asking price, and all without her sod lol. *UPDATED REVIEW* Went back to this company for more work a year after using them to prep my yard for the patio I put in last year. They're affordable and worked quickly last time, so I figured they could handle my next job. However, Maureen Taylor is the rudest person on the planet, so I'm dumping them and never looking back. She came out for a survey and estimate and pushed sod on me instead of the work I wanted. I appreciated her input, but she never listened to my plans, so she never provided an estimate for anything but sod. When I ultimately decided against sod, she straight up told me I'm "on my own" and decided she didn't have time to provide another estimate or do my job. Her email was super unprofessional. I don care how affordable her offer was, I'd rather spend more money with someone who understands customer service. ------ Fast, affordable, friendly and high-quality are the words I would use to describe the service I was provided by Taylor Made. My wife and I put in a patio a few weeks ago. We did the paver work on our own, but had Taylor Made do the initial excavation, as we didn't really know what to do with 140sqft of soil once we dug it up. The crew showed up at 8am and got right to work. They pulled out the soil, laid down the base gravel and the leveling sand (which was actually more affordable than buying the materials at a retail/big box store and laying it ourselves), pulled up a couple of dead trees from the yard and left a very clean space when they finished up. They were in and out in under 3hrs, which was much faster than I had anticipated. I'm very happy with the work Taylor Made did to help get my patio project started and I would absolutely use their services again. read more

Maureen and her team did a wonderful job planning and planting our small urban front yard to turn it from a useless patch of grass to a beautiful, fun pollinator-friendly perennial garden. She was great at fusing both our style and maintenance goals, and clear about pricing-- when our estimate came in a bit over what we wanted to spend she worked with us to find easy adjustments without sacrificing quality or style. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Taylor Made. We were looking to do something totally different with our patio. Maureen offered some great ideas and at a reasonable price. Maureen and her team did a great job of transforming our backyard from a dilapidated patio into a very elegant living space. I highly recommend them for their fast responsiveness, their design acumen, the work crew's craftsmanship and thorough clean up that left us a solid impression of the professionalism of Taylor Made Landscape. As the winter season approached I contacted a few vendors to get started on plans that I originally didn't think would get started until March or April. But Maureen exceeded my expectations in that she met with us in mid-November and all work was completed over a couple of days before the month ended. She came out for an appointment and walked us through some design options, we reviewed stones to use and agreed on a timeframe. Be prepared to make decisions because Maureen has plenty of options to choose from based on her experience. She's not pushy at all, just excited to see your project come together. Overall a pleasure to work with and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the result. So looking forward to spring now that we have a fresh, clean slate of an awesome patio to work with. Thanks Maureen! read more

Maureen redid our small back yard and installed a new patio and stone steps. The steps were done incorrectly (smaller that the original, so we could not reinstall our railing). Maureen and Federico worked to fix the problem and get the railing installed. The work crew was fast and efficient. In the end the yard looks great and we have really enjoyed it. Maureen was helpful in discussion options to lower the cost if we wanted to do certain things ourselves, which was refreshing. My only critique is that communication can be spotty. Answers to question took longer to receive than promised. And I was a bit confused as to what was included in the quote we were offer and what was not. In the end i would say these are small negatives for a job well done work. read more

Big fan! My yard is now beautiful. I liked the photos on Taylor Made's site and wanted my yard to have that feel. Maureen and an associate came out, measured, planned and discussed. Her landscape crew did the heavy work that my hubby and I could not do. We did what we could to keep costs down. Results were what I wanted. The only room for improvement in the whole process is communication and scheduling. Well worth working with Taylor Made and would do so, again. read more

We met with Maureen and paid her a $75 fee to develop a plan. We did not have an issue with the fee because we anticipated we'd apply it to our services. She promised the plan within a week. I followed up with her in 10 days later and she said she was waiting for her 'soil guy' to give her a bid. It is now a month! Today I received an email that she reminded her 'soil guy' to come to our house to give HER a bid. Wow! I've moved on with another more responsive landscape vendor. I am very disappointed. I feel I paid $75 for nothing! What a waste of money. Update; Maureen contacted me and returned our $75.00 fee. read more

Maureen created a wonderful native garden for our property! She designed a beautiful garden according to my wishes and within my budget. I had a great experience with Maureen/Taylor Made Landscape Design. I was in a position where I had neglected my garden for a few years and was unsure of how to bring it back to its former glory. I hired Maureen for a consult, with the idea that she would help me take stock of the garden--admittedly kind of a puzzle because it was early in the season and most of my perennials had barely emerged--and to provide some advice, and perhaps be involved with future work in terms of infrastructure. Maureen gave me some helpful general ideas regarding plantings, and when I told her I wanted to replace my old patio, she made a simple new patio design on the spot that complements the curved shape of my flower beds. During the consult I got the feeling that she was looking out for me, coming up with alternatives that were affordable. She also supported my initial garden design and gave me confidence that I was in a good place with my previous work. Totally worth the $75 consulting fee. I contracted with her for the patio. Maureen emailed me a more detailed design with her proposal and managed to nab me some bluestone that was secondhand but in great shape, and therefore cost-beneficial and in the style I love. BTW, the $75 consulting fee was applied toward the very reasonable cost of the patio. Maureen was there on the first day of the patio work to assure everything would go to plan, then the able workers, Beto and Rodrigo, took over. These guys were great: they pulled up my old patio pavers and, per my request, stored them elsewhere on my property for future use. They broke up and removed an unexpected cement frame beneath the old patio. They laid out and shaped the stones to form a beautiful pattern that shows off the spectrum of colors that bluestone comes in. Hence, 5 stars. read more

I had a wonderful experience working with Maureen on my front lawn landscaping. It's a small yard that needed a little curb-appeal help. She was able to come up with a design that fit the budget I set. In the end, I decided to increase the budget a bit in order to accommodate more plants. She was prompt and courteous. The service was superb and I am very happy with the end result. I'll be using her again for any future projects and highly recommend her. read more

Maybe it'll work out for you, but sure didn't work out for me. Ms Taylor promised to talk with her "stone guy" and get back to me shortly. it's been about a week and haven't heard from her. By the way, my retaining wall and brick steps job was done by Danny & Sons (773 425-8592)--and it looks fabulous! My front yard was a complete disaster. After years of mediocre attempts to make our front look as good as the addition we had done, my husband and I threw up the white flag and asked the professional. I happened to come across Maureen's name on Yelp and am I ever glad I did. From the initial visit I could tell Maureen had a special gift. Unfortunately my husband wasn't home for the consultation but she came back on another day to explain her ideas to him as well. She drew up a plan and emailed me pictures of all the plants she proposed. Any issues I had she worked with me and came up with a solution. For so long the front was a source of embarrassment, it didn't compliment the rest of the house. My husband is handy and I'm the creative, just not when it comes to landscaping. Maureen brought out the charm in front. We have received so many compliments on how great our house looks. She is a professional and I would highly recommend her if you want your landscaping done right. read more

Maureen, at Taylor Made, helped us create wonderful and instant "curb appeal," very quickly, following the removal of a huge, overgrown tree in our front yard. Everything about Maureen is professional, and things were done quickly and beautifully. Emails and phone calls were promptly returned, and I very much appreciated her willingness to use some of my plants to help cut down on the cost. Ask her about Knock-Out Roses~~they are gorgeous, and she promised they will bloom through November. They did! This was not a landscaper just putting plants in to meet a price. This is a woman who knows about gardens, who listens to her clients, and gives them the benefit of her expertise, much to the delight of the homeowner, neighbors, and strangers passing by. I also appreciated her occasional reminders to water plants throughout our terribly hot & dry summer, as well as during the cooler dry fall weather. Gail B. read more

I found Maureen and Taylor Made Landscape Design on Yelp, and am so happy I did. My husband and I are plant and landscaping novices, to put it mildly. We needed our back "yard" pavers re-laid and wanted to re-do our front "yard" plants, but didn't have much of an idea of where to start or what our options were. Maureen came up with a plan, gave us a manageable number of options, and made the process fun. She took the time to understand how we wanted to use our space and had great ideas about how to maximize our outdoor areas in ways we had not thought of before. Maureen was very responsive throughout the process and patient with all of our questions. Her crew works hard and does beautiful work. Highly recommended! read more

My wife and I contacted Maureen Taylor to help design and install a complicated bit of landscaping for the front of our Chicago home. We asked her to design the space with a nod towards my New England/Maine roots as well as my wife's Chinese heritage. No easy task to say the least. The end product was nothing short of breath-taking. Maureen's design and installation is now the talk of the neighborhood. Dozens of people have asked about the landscaping and complimented us on how tasteful it is. We couldn't be happier with Maureen and her work. Maureen and her team did a fantastic job with my backyard. Landscaping season is a hectic season so curb your expectations on timing, but I could tell the whole time that Taylor Made was working hard to fit us in as soon as they could. Jean E. Just had a great experience with Taylor Made Landscape Design. Maureen came out within a few days to go over my project which involved both the front and back yards plus the north side of my house. She was very efficient and made suggestions during our meeting. I worked with her on all my plants/shrubs and new edging for the front yard. I received the proposal within a short period of time. Her work crews were very efficient and always answered my questions when they were here. They removed all the old hedges and edging. Each day that they were here they always cleaned up before they left the premises. The job took a few days but I am very happy with the new look. Can you give a zero? We awarded Maureen a big job, full landscaping to a dirt palette. The job started with a missed appointment. Once we finally met, we reviewed plans which were satisfactory, the shortfall was in the preparation for the job. Taylor Made never inspected/tested the soil and did not reform it prior to planting. As a result, most plants died. At this point, I requested they re-dig and replace with new soil (after doing research myself on how to repair soil) Taylor Made repaired and replaced the plants, but did not do any research or dig deep enough for full repair. Throughout the summer Taylor Made was called upon to look at the "sick" garden. Often she blamed her water vendor (a partnership secured and paid by her). At the end of the summer, given all the problems, we agreed to extend the warranty into the following year. The following year a tree died. On her request, we called care of trees to examine the tree, they confirmed the roots never took and the tree was dead. Upon informing Maureen the tree was confirmed dead, she ignored all correspondence and did not stand by her commitment, we had to replace the tree at our expense. There are many other things I could write that are negative about our experience, but the facts speak loud enough. read more

We are unbelievably happy with what Maureen and her crew were able to accomplish with our tiny front yard. We have managed to create a tiny, private oasis out of a 14x24' area in our front yard - in the city. Maureen was very responsive to our needs, provided great direction where we lacked expertise, and gave us the yard of our dreams. For those that don't like the $75 initial fee, I can understand, but I do think a great deal of time and thought goes into the initial design and estimate of services. Scope of project was approximately 12K (one contractor was close in price and the other quoted 8K higher for the same services/materials). I will add pictures shortly. Taylor Made Landscape Design - Before & after of our beautiful bungalow! - Landscaping Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

As clueless new homeowners, we gave Maureen quite the challenge for helping us design our corner lot brick bungalow after we removed nearly 20 "granny hedges" which lined both sides of our house (you know 'em-- huge, ugly, old evergreens). Maureen developed a plan which transformed our corner lot into a dynamic and textured landscape full of high contrasting plants. It's beautiful and we regularly get compliments. We opted to DIY which meant that after meeting with us a few times, Maureen gave us very specific plans made to scale. She also included lots of alternative plant/tree suggestions which allowed us to really personalize the design and also find things on sale. Maureen stopped by to check in the day we were planting and has since popped over to prune our tree and shrubs. We are very pleased with the whole experience and hope to enlist her expertise when we tackle our neglected backyard someday. read more
