Even if they couldn't write me a policy, I at least wanted to discuss what my options were. Get some clarity on the very confusing insurance process you know? First I couldn't get through to anyone when I called. The receptionist or person who answered sent me to quotes dept like 5 times and no one would answer. They blamed it on "high volume" of customers or whatever. But how do you not have a process to respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner? I can't wait 2 weeks to get a damn quote. I'll just go somewhere else. The person in quotes dept Sheryl was rude and had terrible customer service. She made up excuses about why they couldn't get back to me in time. I filled out their form online explaining what I wanted in my policy and a little of my situation. First I got this rude email (I think she wrote it) telling me they didn't want to talk to me and couldn't write me a policy. The email was short with very little explanation why. Then when I called AGAIN for the 6th time to finally get SOMEONE to talk to me, Sheryl rudely just refused to talk or listen to me, kept repeating over and over how they couldn't write me a policy and basically told me to go away. No solutions, no help, no suggestions on how to fix my situation. Look if you can't write me a policy, fine. I get it. But don't leave a customer twisting in the wind. At least take the time to answer my questions and give me suggestions on where I CAN get help. It's basic decency and politeness. Be warned everyone! Customer service at this place has gone very downhill recently. You're better off going elsewhere!

Initially, I chose them only because they found me the lowest cost for all my insurance policies combined (through Mercury). I had shopped around a lot - Geico, Progressive, AAA, AllState, StateFarm, Travelers, etc. They moved very fast, when I called close to their closing time, because I needed to have my home insurance active the next day for mortgage underwriting. Insurance premiums vary for everyone and they are not going to be the cheapest for everyone. But, I would happily remain with them even if the companies they represent happen to be slightly more expensive, because they really understand insurance products and can explain every fine print to me (like "nonbuilding structures" coverage). I have not found such knowledgeable answers in any other insurance office. This appears to be a family business that has been around for decades. So you are not talking to someone who has been on the job for a few months and is reading off the insurance marketing materials. Communication, over phone and email, are excellent. However, the companies they represent have barebones online account access. I don't think you can get online quotes. That's why they have insurance agencies like this one to represent them. It is a bit of a work to get the insurance policy going - have to fax or mail things over. But, once the policies are setup, renewal is easy.
