Terrible communication, lack of accuracy and completely disorganized. In Jan we made an appointment to meet with our accountant in early Feb, as we have for 10 years. We should up on a Sat morning and were informed they no longer meet with clients on Sat to just drop our info. They could have told us that before we wasted our Sat morning. Their hours are terrible now 9-5 M-F. We were told someone would reach out to us in the next week with questions. After two weeks I called and they told us they would not look at them until after all of their business clients were completed. About another week. If they had told us that up front we could have found someone else. After two weeks we called and we were told an accountant had been assigned and they would get any questions out to us with in 3 days. After a week I called as we had received no communications and finally pushed them to get me their questions. We answered both within 24 hours. After a week we called again and they told us we had not responded. I gave them the date and time of the response and they found the answers and apologized for missing them. The above saga continued with weekly calls and weekly excuses. 10 days before the tax deadline I started calling daily to get status and each day I got a different status, ranging from they are done and in review to no that was not right we have not signed someone to them. We did finally get them and get them filed They seem to think just giving the client anything to get them off the phone is ok, that I am sorry is acceptable and failing to do their job and filing extensions should be ok with everyone

Phones never answered, or never called back. you send them 10 reminders/mails you would be lucky to get one or two replies. The replies are never complete and the loops start over. Melody, the boss, does the tax returns, but is assisted by the accountants (who are likely CPAs by now) who also happen to be family, or soon-to-be-family. When you walk in, the first person you'll see might be her husband/office manager. Numbers Crunchers is thorough, delivers the work when promised, and because it's a small business, will only accept a certain number of clients in order to be certain to deliver the best service. Like most things in NC, Numbers Crunchers is higher in price than its counterparts from other states in my experience, but compared with other tax preparers in the area, Numbers Crunchers pricing is reasonable and there won't be any hidden charges for the basic tax returns.
