I recommend you find some other firm to do your taxes and/or payroll processing. I have had a very difficult and expensive experience with them. I found their competence, professionalism and ethics to be questionable. I contacted them in early December to do my payroll and my corporate and personal taxes. I was told if I would pre-pay the fees for tax preparation and payroll processing I would get 2023 prices and that prices were going up in 2024. I signed the acceptance letter and paid $2,155. I emailed specific instructions about my income and asked about maximizing my 401(K) contribution. On January 12 I emailed Ms. Spelgatti who is the owner of the company and told her about the lack of communication, knowledge and professional oversight I was dealing with. I told her I would not have the company do my taxes because I had lost confidence. She arranged a conference call to address those issues. On January 29 after nearly two months, 4 incorrect payroll reports and W-2s, my financial advisor asked if we could talk an accountant. I made an appointment for a conference call for the next day. When I didn't hear from them at the appointed time I phoned Phases and found that they had apparently forgotten about the call. When we finally did receive a call, Ms. Spelgatti said she only had 15 minutes because she had another call to take. I felt like I was imposing on her time. The call became contentious and she hung up the phone on my financial advisor and me. A W-2 was finally prepared and submitted on the deadline, January 31. I emailed and reiterated I would not be having Phases do my taxes and since there had been no tax preparation done I asked for a refund of the $1,655 I had pre-paid for those services. I asked for the refund again on February 3 and again on February 6 after which I received a call back from the billing department saying I was not going to receive a full refund as I had additional charges of $1,100 for conference calls and emails. I had never at any time been told I was incurring additional charges beyond the $500 I paid. I then asked three times for an itemization of the charges as I only showed 110 minutes of calls over 2 minutes and there had been no in-person meetings. I would have thought the $500 fee would have covered 2 hours of calls, especially since there had been so many errors. I finally received an invoice showing I was being billed an additional 4 hours at $275/hour for "several emails, phone calls and meetings" I asked to receive an itemization of those calls, etc. but have never heard back read more
