The Farmers Market is not large but it is loaded with local produce and other culinary items. Jan was very excited over what they had to offer, espically when she saw the purple hull peas. I'd never heard of them. She was even more excited when she found them in the fridge already hulled. We ended up purchasing tomatoes, green tomatoes, okra, peaches, purple hulled peas, butter beans and cantaloupe. We also bought a box of WhistleStop (one word) breading mix for the green tomatoes. We fixed green fried tomatoes as soon as we got home. They were excellent. The cantaloupe was excellent. The east Texas peaches were excellent. The okra, peas and beans are in the freezer.

It's hard to leave without grabbing a few bags. The fresh-cut meats are just as impressive. The steaks are thick, high quality, and cut exactly how you want them. You can tell they take pride in what they sell, and the difference shows once it's on the grill. If you're looking for a local butcher with great service, excellent beef jerky, and top-notch cuts of meat, Gorman's is absolutely worth the trip. I'll definitely be back. While there I noticed a lot of locals doing pick-ups. And it wasn't small bags either! Lots of brown bags leaving through the front door! Oooh and I forgot the pig skins! Those are super delicious! Don't pass on those! Friendly folks, great service, and top-notch meat. It's the kind of place that's worth supporting, and I'll definitely keep returning. July 2026
