We stuck with a menu of tzatziki, saganaki, spanakopita and gyrospfanne. They started our meal with a complimentary pair of Ouzo shots, then we dug right in to the tzatziki served with thick-cut hearty bread slices. Shortly thereafter the saganaki (fried cheese) came out, also served with the same tzatziki on the side which paired well together given the richness of the cheese now "cut" by the bright fresh cucumber-y sauce. The spanakopita was served in a plate full of small, triangular baked pies which also was great with the tzatziki. Lastly, the gyrospfanne dish was not a traditional gyro style platter...instead it came as diced-cut gyro meat served in a cognac cream sauce with sliced peppers and onions. This restaurant epitomizes casual elegance - you could go in jeans, you could go in a business suit and still feel equally comfortable. It's the food here that really stands out though - completely fresh - the fish, despite the realization that Austria does not have a Navy (no ocean's here, nor kangaroo's, but that's another story) tastes as if it took a flying leap from the ocean to Athene's kitchen.
