My family and I are big fan of Tavazo, they always offer the best quality products however I ordered some Sohan and all are arrived broken into very small pieces. ( FYI, this was an international order) The quality was awesome but the box was wrapped upside down (shipping label at bottom of package) which caused the damage.

Newly opened Persian spot specializing in dried fruits and nuts, with a smattering of freshly made pastries and boxed delights. Sampled and brought home a few dried fruits, nuts and pastries, and I'm happy to report that they were fresh and pretty good at standard prices. This location had helpful/friendly service, and was clean and organized. Looks like Tavazo is on it's way to being a great addition to the neighborhood!

Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes!…read more I don't shop here often but when I do, their products are top notch - fresh and worth every penny! It's definitely expensive shopping here but you really do get what you pay for. I come here mainly for their bakery items like their famous jelly roll cake - a must get for the holidays! Their cookies here are baked in house and delicious as well. I often come here during the holidays for herbs as well, since herbs seem to sell out quickly at larger grocery stores. They really have everything that you need here. Butcher section also has great quality meat. As for their ice cream pints at the back of the store - you MUST get some! They are so delicious with unique flavours, some even with an Asian twist. Overall, a great grocery store to shop from if you have the means for it ;) OR stop in here once in a while to check out their specialty items like the jelly roll!

I stopped by to pick up one of their infamous jelly rolls. Never had one but heard that it's amazing. The standard one is the mixed berry however they had a lemon & blueberry one so I opted to go with that since hubby loves that flavor combination. We took it to a friend's house that night and it was exquisite! My friends who said that they normally don't like cake now have a new addiction. The cake had the perfect texture to it to hold up all that amazing fresh cream, lemon curd and blueberries and it was also a perfect balance of sweetness. I've been there on multiple occasions while living in Markham usually interacting with the staff in bakery and the cashiers and everyone I have encountered has been lovely. The parking lot isn't massive but it is enough to host all of their shoppers as I've never had an issue with finding parking there.

So you'll have to settle for the quarter slice leftover I have... we kind of forgot about it, as they left it in my fridge for almost two weeks. But today we found it, and surprisingly, it's just as moist and good as when we first tried it that day. It's pretty good! I don't usually have gluten-free cakes, but I wouldn't know it's gluten-free at all. The texture is slightly different, but not a turnoff. I think, in terms of sweetness, it's not too sweet--but maybe, since I'm sensitive to sweetness, it's just a tiny bit sweeter than I would've liked, but still enjoyable. Love the fresh cream layers and berries. Since their gluten-free cake tastes this good, I'm curious to try all their other non-GF treats I've seen at their treat counter next time.

I heard about the hype on their smash burgers so while I was in the area we decided to get takeout…read moreand try. Now the prices for those smash burgers are no where near $5 as promoted on social media in the past, it's more like $12 for the double smash burger, average in price but it was greasy good and quickly came out from the pizza, sandwich and burger counter. It's everything you would want in a smash burger. I highly recommend their burgers and the fast food counter. However, I decided to try some traditional Iranian / Middle Eastern food located at their back counter. Be warned they are NOT fast food... it's very slow to come out. It seems like all the items I asked on the menu are not available. They had a Monday special and everything is sold out by like 2pm or not available. I tried to order something else and it was also not available. I ending up asking what she recommends, and said kebabs so I end up getting Koobideh which is $17 with tax comes to $19. But after I paid I found out I had to wait 15 mins but in reality maybe over 20 mins, which is kind of slow for takeout. I probably would've just skipped if I knew the food would've taken that long and just got food at the front burger counter. They didn't have any other customers there but there are a couple of Uber deliveries I see at the front and notice they are doing some Uber deals. But with at least 3-4 people working on the food at the back, it seems way too slow. When the food came out it was good, the kebab was on par with some of the Persian food I've had around the area but probably not enough for me to come out just for this. I would be curious to try the other foods that I haven't heard of before. But you'll need more coordination with a pre-order given they are slow and things could be not available (at least for the Iranian / Middle Eastern food counter). Keep in mind the staff might not speak English well so don't expect them to be able to explain the dishes and options. I was hoping I could pick up some food and maybe a bit of groceries. However, they don't have many staples like bananas we were looking for (though they have other fruit). More so specialty products, pasta, grains and seasonings. The sangak looked really good and I see they have a huge oven at the back to make it. Apparently, it's Iranian's national bread. I was very tempted to pick some up but way too much for us to finish. Probably not traditional sizing but smaller portions would be great for newbies to buy and try.

When you walk into the store, Hyper Grill is on the right. - If you are a nut, date, or feta fan, you'll fine dedicated sections for these items. A recent Yelp experience introduced me to Hyper Grill, a fast food stall within Hyper Fresh, a cool supermarket that specializes in Iranian and international foods, including Turkish and Indian items. I hadn't visited any businesses along Doncaster for several years. I dropped by often when Cayne's Super Housewares (it was next door to this supermarket), and Hampstead House Books were alive and kicking along this street. I drove over to Hyper Fresh after work on a Thursday. Taking backroads was great. I got here in roughly 25 minutes from home. All parking spots in front of this supermarket are on a slant. There were also cars parked parallel to Doncaster, which was weird. They were all taken. I ended up parking closer to K-Beauty Outlet, which had normal parking. The entrance has a ramp. I felt like I was working out my calves walking in. If you are using a wheelchair, you'll need extra arm strength to get yourself up the ramp and into the store. Coming out of the store, you may need to use your brake! My friend, Sandy, was already in the store, perusing. I found her and we browsed before and after hitting Hyper Grill. It's cool that we like checking out supermarkets among other shared interests. We both enjoyed cheeseburgers at Hyper Fresh. They were excellent smash burgers with all the fixings, including caramelized onions. It also has pizzas, sandwiches, and more. The fries are also yummy, with a light, crispy coating. There is seating to enjoy your food. There's an area with tables and chairs. We sat by the window. It was fun perusing the grocery store. I needed to get celery. The produce was fresh. I was pleased with the selection of celery available. We saw a lot of nuts. No, not customers. Almonds. Pistachios. Cashews. A lot! This store also has an entire display dedicated to dates. I liked that you could enjoy sample dates in this store. I found triangular paratha in the fridge. I got some. It wasn't my regular brand that was flaky. It was triangular without any flakiness, which was disappointing. What was great was getting a small tub of pomegranate ice cream. It was slightly sweet, with a lot of yummy pomegranate flavour. I'm nearly done, so I may need to head back soon to get the larger tub. We looked at salt .Blue salt was going for $20. Yikes! I need to research why it's so expensive. I hope that it has special properties. As with any supermarket, some prices are cheap and some are not. I wouldn't recommend getting pop here. However, it had carbonated yogurt drinks that were decent in price. They also intrigued me. I saw channa masala seasoning and Turkish delight. It was cool seeing other international items. Sandy made a good observation that this store didn't have a whole lot of chocolate. We eventually found chocolate bar squares near the checkout area. I got a milk chocolate bar that was yummy. There's a meat shop in the back left of the store. There was a lot of feta cheese to look at, too. I look forward to returning. I liked seeing the jam varieties in this store, from fig to rose petal. The man at the checkout was so nice. I paid for my goods with a credit card. He put my items in a bag. It was a seamless transaction. I had a wonderful experience shopping here. Perhaps when I'm heading home from work, I'll drop by again and fetch my groceries here. (151)

We have tried a few places in and around Markham that sell Wagyu, but non of them blew us away. I decided to do a random search for Japanese Butchers and Wagyu and came across FãMu Inc. which is listed as "The only Japanese Butcher in Ontario". FãMu is the Japanese pronunciation of farm. They are all about animals that are pasture or free-run, raised without chemicals, antibiotics, hormones or animal bi-products. Located in J Town, an indoor/outdoor mall of Japanese businesses located On Steeles Avenue E near Woodbine in Markham. (LOVED the shops at J Town!!). We have had several great experiences with this shop since our first visit 9 months ago. Everyone in shop is very helpful and knowledgeable about all of the cuts they sell. Our first try of FãMu we purchased the A5 Wagyu Miyazaki Striploin. BBQ'd on the grill for 2 min on each side (as per the butchers recommendation), the cuts were bbq'd to perfection and just melted in our mouths. I have never eaten a steak anywhere that was so perfectly marbled and so tender. I would say it was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had! The next would be the Australian Wagyu Ribeye we picked up (15oz cuts). A little on the pricey side, but WOW, you get what you pay for and no better way to indulge in a perfect steak bbq. Some of the cuts of Japanese Wagyu they sell are: Kobe - A5 Kuromame Nagi - A5 Furano - A5 Miyazaki (Miyazakigyu)- A5 Hokkaido (Tokachi) - A5 Various Regions Of Japan - A4 Plus ~ Australian Wagyu, US Wagyu, Chicken, Berkshire Pork, Wagyu burgers and Wagyu slices for Sukiyaki Hot Pots and more! During 2 of our recent visits we also tried their Double Wagyu Beef Bowl. Thinly sliced pieces of Wagyu seasoned with in store made terriyaki/soy sauce over a bed of steamed rice. Small portion for the cost, but filling and THE most tender beef bowl you will ever try! Not sure about which cut to try, visit their website and you can get detailed info on each cut, you can also stop in and ask or order online. In shop everyone is very warm, friendly and happy to help if you have any questions.
