I've gone there to have my yearly inspection done, I went there when I got a flat tire, I've gone there to have my oil changed and every time I go it's quick efficient and I'm not spending thousands of dollars on repairs. I don't need. I do not feel any pressure to get any thing fixed with my car that probably doesn't need it. I go at least twice a year for a regular maintenance and when I get my inspection it's quick and I pay for the inspection and go. I just recently had my inspection and my brakes done and I was on my way in less than an hour and a half. I'm always expecting to spend two or three hours because that has been my experience in the past. But now, the last year that I've been going to Pep Boys, I haven't spent more than a couple hours. The longest time I've spent there was because my car was towed in last minute for the flat tire, which is to be expected because people with appointments are taken care of first. I had no problem waiting because I didn't want to cut in line. The Pep Boys in Lake Grove is great and I will continue to go there Oh, and I also should mention that I got a flat tire years ago in a different town and that Pep Boys was just as wonderful. When I thought I was gonna have to get a new tire, they just fixed my tire and I spent 15 bucks. Pep Boys is great and I will continue to bring my car there.

A Tesla should be an easy inspection, there's no engine to check! My wife & I walk to Smithhaven Mall, we window shop, all is right with the world. I walk in and I'm told the car failed inspection. What?! Yes sir, the tint on your windows is not up to code. Wait a second, you passed the car last year?? Yes sir, someone made a mistake and I don't want any problems. You'll have to take it back to your tint shop, let them put a lighter shade of tint that will pass New York State Ins.. I ran outside to the car and ripped off all the tint on the side windows. I went back to the desk with a huge tint ball. Now the car will pass! Idiots. Never again.

I have had many bad experiences with mechanics in the past. With Hondaman, every visit has been incredible. If you need something fixed, they'll make it almost new. They're very honest with their work and will confirm with you before doing anything additional, whereas other places I've been to will do what they think is "important", then charged me for it after the fact. Hondaman will advise you of anything that needs to be done after they finish what you went to them for. Plus, their prices are reasonable and affordable. I've never felt like I had to break the bank during my visits. In short, they are my wife's and my go-to mechanic and I absolutely recommend them.

A truly honest auto repair shop that did a great job on my Jeep…read more I discovered this place by accident. I brought my Jeep to Mavis for an oil change & NYS inspection. They told me my car passed but there is a loose transmission hose that is leaking fluid. Mavis doesn't work on transmissions but there is a Lee Myles down the road, great bunch of guys I'm told. I bring my Jeep in and speak with Mario. I told him there is a cracked transmission hose. I tell him I need this Jeep to be rock solid for the winter so please order the hose. The next day I received a call from Richie. He tells me the hose is in but he recommends a tranny filter service. They also noticed the lift kit I had installed has too much lift and there are driveshaft spacers needed that will correct the problem, they'll take care of it as well. The next day I get a call, they found something else that needs attention. I live close so I swung by the shop. I now have a comfort level with Richie, he shows me the valve cover gasket is starting to leak and since this Jeep is mission critical it should be replaced while the car is in the shop. Then he show me the tailpipe is also on the cusp. I tell Richie make this car rock solid, take your time and get this Jeep running like a top. I paid the bill, jumped in the Jeep and drove off. Noticed I had a flat the next evening after a long driving the day before. I had driven from NJ…read morethe night before from I-80, via the daylight robbery toll-booth at the GW bridge, along the Cross Bronx Crawl-way, over to the second mugging spot on the Throgs Neck bridge toll and finally along the Long Island Expressway parking lot. Somewhere along I had picked up a slow leak. It was almost closing time when I called Bruce at Hayes Automotive Repair who gave me the estimate and options over the phone and that he indicated he would wait for me. I quickly put on the spare in my driveway and drove over. Bruce had the nail out and the leak plugged in no time. Based on my experience in talking to him over the phone and in person, I believe Bruce would treat everyone fairly, give a good estimate and provide the best options no matter what the job. My car broke down in Manhattan and the shop out there wanted to charge me $2K to fix allegedly broken parts. I called Haye's and they said I might be getting scammed and to bring it to them. I towed it to their location and the next day got a diagnostics report - nothing that the other shop said was broken was broken. Everything was fine, I just needed a new belt. Total costs for goods and services = $200. A FRACTION of what I was terrified I would have to pay to fix my car. These people are honest and kind to their customers. They didn't know me and could've lied about what needed to be repaired, but they were friendly, accommodating, fast, affordable, and HONEST - all you could ever ask for.
