The store itself is a must-visit just for the space: it's in an old gym that's been refurbished, leaving the gorgeous two-story space intact, with a full lower level and what might have been a track level in a square balcony on the second level. The upstairs is where you'll find all the college gear, art, and some games; down below are the gifts, textbook pickup, general bookstore, and younger kids games and activities. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and while the prices are full retail for books and gifts, you will want to support the ability to browse by buying some stuff, we hope. A genuinely nice find in an otherwise somewhat disappointing (for books) pair of college towns in Potsdam and Canton.

The hand made art and craft in the store ranges from soap, jewelry, paintings, prints, sculptures, photography, fabric art, paper art clothings, and much more. We were very lucky to have the chance to chat with the bright minded founder (one of 2) of this art and craft collective. She was so lovely and passionate with what she is doing and I have no doubt that even more wonderful things are going happen here. I expect this to be the hub of the art/ craft (and soon music) scene in Gananoque in the up coming years. And for a young couple like us that just moved here, the excistence of this art and craft collective is making me feel like we made a good decision. I can understand why quilters get such a stash too... very tempting, although I don't sew much. This shop has a section for yarn, but the quilting and sewing side has more variety in it. I was tempted by a lovely apron, which is funny because I don't ever wear one! Maybe I would though... if it looked like this, and if I made it myself! They offer some upscale yarns in here that were heaven to sink my hands into. I managed to walk away with "only" 2 skeins, which will be for a project for me; I'm thinking mittens, but we shall see. I recently purchased the new knitting book called "Saltwater Mittens", which contains patterns that are supposed to represent Newfoundland, and I'm just itching to get going on a few of these patterns! They have a knit-night on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00. Now that it's on my radar, I will keep this in mind so that I can spend more time looking around. And oh yeah, knitting!
