Customer service: spot on great experience…read more Food: it was ok. The Mexican salad was watery and a strange consistency. Presentation/delivery: this was ordered several weeks in advance as a catering order to be picked up. I chose the specific salads, sweet treats, and crackers and chips. I understood that everything would be on a platter ready to lay out on the table for the meeting I was hosting. Sweet treats would be cut and arranged on a platter. I selected all of the specific items I wanted abd prepaid. Fast forward to pick up day. The order wasnt ready. When i showed up, staff was scrambling to put the order together. They pulled the salads that I ordered from the refrigerator, cut the sweet treats bars (although they didn't have any of the bars I ordered), and threw everything in bags. Not only I didn't get what i ordered, but it wasn't presented as expected. There was no point in ordering ahead--I still had to wait. Then I had to go to the office and arrange everything on serving platters. So completely frustrating. Outcome: will not return.

While none of them have tasted quite as good since then (something about working up an appetite on the beach?), we still really enjoy a rare opportunity to eat at one. I knew we would be ready for lunch after a morning at a local museum, so I had researched possible venues earlier that morning. I showed my wife a short list and she immediately gravitated to Roly Poly. That would have been my first choice too. This one (the last one remaining in Birmingham, apparently) is in the Homewood neighborhood / area. It is located on a busy street with shops and plazas lining both sides. These look like they were built no later than 1950 but have evolved and been renovated as new tenants cycled through. We did angled parking on the street out front, but there may be better / easier parking on surrounding side streets. The only issue we had was backing out into traffic when we left; it took a few minutes for a gap. You enter and order at the counter. They have menus available there for you to check out. They have a rack of chips available, plus maybe other sides? I didn't look beyond the chips. You then sit down and wait for your order. I guess they have call-ahead too. Seating is along the wall to the right as you enter. There is a long bench the length of the wall with separate 4-person tables spaced along it, with 2 additional chairs each. Our order seemed to take a while, but it may have just been what we ordered (hot sandwich) versus other simpler orders getting filled faster. I got the French Twist, which is my favorite. I only got a regular and not a large, but I think I could have finished a large. My wife got something else, chicken-based I think. We both enjoyed this a lot. If I lived in the area, I'd probably stop in here semi-regularly.

First time at this spot, and my initial impression was positive. I would say, I love, love, love…read morethat they use Big Green Egg's inside the restaurant on the line. If you've never had meat (or VEGGIES!) cooked on a BGE, it will change your life. This fact alone will bring me back to try other things. Before I get into the meal, my only real complaint was that they only had a soda machine and tea. I had brought my mother along, and she already had lunch and wanted just to sit and chat. As it was a very cold day she was gonna order a coffee and they don't offer anything hot! It's definitely an opportunity to expand here even if it was just so simple as putting a Keurig machine in the back. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. It is served with grilled chicken in a grilled wrap and cheddar cheese. If there was a buffalo sauce, I didn't taste any. I was a little disappointed in the wrap. The flavor didn't really stand out as being cooked on the Big Green Egg. The cheese wasn't really melted, which can be a common problem with shredded cheddar cheese, but it also didn't really have the buffalo flavor that I was looking for in a buffalo chicken wrap (maybe it was a Toledo Ohio wrap I don't know just not spicy. ) It served with a side of ranch which I juiced up with some Cholula and that helped. I i'm not knocking the quality of the food because it was good. It just didn't live up to the expectations I had in my head based on the menu description. It also came with a side, which I chose the broccoli salad. This was nicely done with bacon, I believe some quinoa and the broccoli was chopped up nicely so you didn't have huge chunks. Also, it wasn't overly sauced so that would make it runny. Overall I give the property four out five stars. Also, the flavor of the whole meal was fine. Good size portion and good value for your money.

We sat ourselves and was attended to relatively fast. The menu was a good lunch menu. Several sandwiches salads and burgers. Plus a few other items. We chose to get a pretzel to start and wife got the cbr salad which is a chopped salad with bacon cheese croutons and chicken. She got it fried. I opted for the da brees sandwich which is slow roasted roast beef. I also got my fries the Messi way which has cheese and bacon. Fire. I only wish there was some kind of au jus with the sandwich. I know others come with it but for some reason not this one. Would have made it even better. We were both very pleased with our orders as well as the pretzel. Best pretzel I've had in a long time. The sports bar atmosphere is a very loud environment so it is not conducive to a lot of talking but still an enjoyable experience. My wife really likes the Zydeco Salad (sweet chili-glazed fried shrimp, mixed greens, cabbage, candied pecans, jalapeños, tortilla strips, red onions, bell peppers, jack cheese, pepper jelly vinaigrette). Pepper Jack Boudin (jack cheese, pepper jelly vinaigrette) is almost always a part of our order. If you have never had, I recommend you give them a try. The Voodoo Shrimp & Grits (bacon-wrapped jalapeño and cream cheese stuffed-shrimp tossed in sweet chili glaze, served with cheddar grits) are an interesting take on the traditional Louisiana dish. I had never had corn mixed in with my grits before but it was a nice addition. The dish is large enough to split, especially when you add the boudin and Beignet Bites for a full meal. The Seafood Poboy with a choice of boom boom shrimp, fried shrimp or fried catfish with tomato, lettuce, pickles, mayo, poboy bread is another great option.
