While skeptical based on the outside of the building, I am so glad about my recent visit to this shop. The place was clean; the owners were out of this world polite and engaging. The service I received was outstanding, that I thought for a second I was in this man's home sitting down being served dinner by him. I highly recommend this "hole-in-the-wall" donair spot. I've only tried the chicken and beef mixed platter and it was delicious and hearty for $10.50CAD I think that's a great deal. The food was really good, the chicken was juicy the beef was "meh" but I am not a huge beef fan anyways so maybe others would rate it higher. This seemed to be more of a traditional donair meal than a westernized one which I think a lot of Canadians are used to -regardless I'm definitely coming back. read more

Stopped in here for a quick bite while up in BC and I can't wait to come back for more! The combination of flavors keeps building on your palate after each bite. I tried the Greek Chicken and the Lebanese Falafel. The chicken is flavorful and the falafel had the perfect texture to it. All of the sauces are made in house and the extra hot sauce in particular is my favorite. The heat just builds and builds but keeps you wanting more. Best kebab shop I've had since moving to the lower mainland three years ago which to be fair has been a really low bar compared to kebab shops in Toronto and England where the kebab game is strong. What I really liked was their homemade hot and garlic sauce, for some reason many kebab places seem to think it's ok to serve sriracha (it's isn't). Three stars though because the donair wasn't freshly cut to order and the pitas were only grilled for 30 seconds resulting in decidedly cool innards. Very tasty but just not hot enough. Owner is very friendly and service was good it this could have been great - but just fell short. read more

Dropped in a couple of times and got a wrap both times, the first time was a falafel donair and the second time was a chicken donair. No complaints at all, food was great. But I'd also like to add, the customer service was lovely. There was a man behind the counter that made an effort to speak to all the customers and was super friendly. On a Saturday afternoon, my brother and I were hungry. We didn't really feel like having McDonalds, or other burger related food, and we didn't particularly feel like spending a lot of money for a meal at a dine in restaurant either. In the past I've frequently seen this place just off 72 Ave, nestled in behind the fairly new development that is known as Center of Newton. Was unsure of what to expect, but as I mentioned, we were dying for some shawarma. A quick internet search noted they served shawarma, so it was quickly decided upon that this would be our dining destination. In the past, this place used to be known as City Donair, but it appears to have changed ownership in the last year or two. Most of the menu items are very reasonably priced. I believe they have a happy hour special, where after 5pm you can get an original donair for $5, or two for $9, which I think is quite a good deal. When you enter the establishment, you will notice it is warm (but what shawarma/donair place isn't?) and it is clean, which in my books is a must. The lady working there was more or less nice to us, though a little on the quiet side. The menu items are your standard fare for a donair place, though shawarma dishes are just labelled as "plates" and there are some different options you can select from, such as Greek, Turkish or Lebanese. Of course, you have your choice of chicken, beef or lamb. We each opted for the Lebanese dish, which cost $10 plus tax. Food comes served on your typical Styrofoam plate with plastic cutlery, which is fine. Yes, it would be nice if they had actual plates and cutlery, but what you get transcends such trivial things. Where do I begin to describe the flavours that just danced in my mouth? The one downside was we might have come near the end of the day, so we didn't get as much rice as we would have earlier on in the day. The lady told us as much that she had just run out of rice. Of course I was a little disgruntled at the time, but by the end of the meal I have to say if I ate any more, I would have been overly full. That being said, I'm fairly certain she gave us some extra chicken to make up for it. Quality customer service. The dish that was served to us was very fresh, and while it didn't really look like a lot, it was quite filling. The hummus itself has a very good taste to it, and is quite thick (doesn't seem store bought) and creates a nice texture and flavour when mixed in with the rest of your meal. The chicken was flavourful and well cooked (though not overly cooked mind you). The beauty of the shawarma dish is you mash everything together and create a flavourful orchestra on your plate that has a succinct, delicious flavour each time you take a forkful. This place is severely underrated and I was sad to see that no one had rated it on Yelp. I will say, I do with they served thicker pitas, but I suppose they go with the thinner ones to accommodate those that want pitas. Honestly, this place has so much more value than Pita Pit (which I enjoy, but not for the prices they sell for) which is just across the street. Do yourself a favour if you enjoy shawarma and visit Meditalia. I know that I will be going back to get myself another Lebanese dish since it was absolutely fantastic. read more

Since my first review, I've revisited Meditalia about a dozen times. I'm sad to report that with every subsequent visit after the first few, the quality had dropped substantially compared to what it was. From what I'm told, the husband/wife owners now have a new sit-in restaurant in Langley, which is why I haven't seen them in a while. Unfortunately for Meditalia, this meant that my meals became inconsistent at best. Before my last visit (today), the last time I ate at Meditalia was a number of months ago. That visit was a huge mess- they ran out of chicken and their seasoned rice. It was just a forgettable visit overall. Fast-forward to today, and the meal was just "ok". -The rice has changed for good it seems. It's no longer the yellow, seasoned wonder that was the base of their plate meals. It's basically regular white long-grain rice with a bit of seasoning, but it's nowhere near what it once was. Very dry. -The chicken was quite dry. I may have received the bottom of the heating pan, but a number of visits in a row of the same thing point to dropping quality. -The overall serving size has decreased noticeably. I can understand if they're trying to cut some costs, but with the drop in food quality it makes this change harder to ignore. It's really sad to say this, but I've gone from once-a-week visits to being perfectly content with waiting 3-4 months until I'm really craving a Meditalia platter. I honestly hope they make a change for the better, because the owners really had something special at Meditalia. read more

Hands down the best donairs that I've had in the Lower Mainland. And I've had donairs from the city though the valley. The difference here is the chicken that Fred makes - it's delicous and makes the donairs. Most of the time I get a super chicken lebanese - just love the chicken and the sauciness of it all. So, so delicious. I've also gotten the chicken salad too, which is pretossed in dressing (which might not be for all) but it too is tasty. All in all, I love Meditalia. read more

My favourite donair place! I grab a donair from here every time I'm in the newton area. The Greek wrap with chicken is my favourite but the Halifax is a close second. They have really generous portion sizes and the girls who work they are great. They also wrap the donairs really tightly, which is awesome so they don't fall apart once you get to the bottom. It's great to have an awesome donair shop in Surrey. It is the best donair that I've had recently. I've gotten the Lebanese Beef Shwarma Super Plate every time I've gone there and I have never been disappointed. It's a mix of beef and lamb over rice with tabouli and hummus on the side. The owners are a couple that are super friendly and a treat to meet. Love this place. I suggest getting the plates you won't regret it. read more

I have been going to this place for a few years and the food has always been great. The customer service is another story though. I ordered a sandwich and they put a bunch of vegetables on it that I didn't ask for. When I asked them to remake it, the owner rudely snapped at me in front of other customers. The sandwich itself was bland and not up to its usual standard. The way that the owner berates the female employees in front of customers is atrocious. Moved to Canada not long ago - perhaps due to the cultural differences in demographics takes a big impact on what food is sold/ and of what quality. Lived in Surrey for about 3 months and this was my favorite place for Greek or Mediterranean food. Why? Due to the pricing and quality of the meats. Greek food is expensive and everything in Canada is more expensive in my opinion. If I was gonna spend 20 bucks on a single platter, then I'd rather go here. Cost half the price, fresh ingredients (not to mention authentic taste). I took this place for granted because greek food was such a common theme here (almost like teriyaki vs sushi in WA and B.C). Since moving to Burnaby.. wow even the 4.5 rated places have not impressed me as much as this place. They often lose sight of their true goal: make good food, and go for the 'flashy visuals' to bring in millenials. As a millenial myself, screw that. If I'm paying my hard earned cash, then I expect it to be at least decent. This place, despite ehh Im a cheap ass so I thought it was above average on pricing but food-wise, zero complaints. Too many times have I had bad experiences while to-going food and when I complain, they always say 'oh I don't remember you' even when I bring them photos of the food + receipt. While some places do NOT deserve any of your hard-earned cash, this little hole in the wall, definitely does. Be wary though - parking is a little confusing, you gotta park in the lot so I suggest you order it then pick it up. I'm not too familiar with parking lot rules and such and I was trying to pay for an hour of parking but a friendly stranger told me that it was unnecessary to pay when picking up for food. He did note that it depends on the 'officer' that busts you. Be wary! Btw wow, Canadians are so freaking nice it really is surreal. Go Canada! read more

Tried this place for the 1st time today and I'm a fan! I tried the Halifax and the Lebanese beef wraps and both were very delicious. The Halifax has a bit of a sweet sauce and I'm not usually big on those, although this sauce was very tasty. Personally I like the Lebanese version better because the sauces aren't sweet. The prices are good and the service excellent. The guy and girl were both friendly and helpful! I will be back again and try some of their other food, it all looks good. read more

Simply the best donair and Mediterranean food in town ... luckily I saw a "new management " sign posted in their window shortly after new owners moved in ... the place looked totally different .... shiny and clean !! Food matched the new look .... presented wonderfully ... and then the taste (s) .... hard to describe how his meat seasoning , sauces and sides all combine together sooo well ... the home made tzatziki , tabouli and humus ..... Halifax donairs for East coaster's too ... Owners are very friendly ... always get a smile when I walk in ... well worth the drive from White Rock .... Cheers! read more
