I had higher expectations. About five years ago, I visited this Tastee Treet on a warm July evening and had some amazing milkshakes with my family. I should have left that idyllic memory clearly in the past. Fast forward to recent weeks, I went to the same location after a day of work and ordered the Round Up Burger combo. The location is like I stepped back in time, but not in that Route 66 kind of way, but more in that small town, home style kind of way. It's the kind of place you go after school, or go on your first teenage date, or after the game, win or lose. I sat down at the counter and was unenthusiastically greeted by a young lady working there who gave me the distinct impression she would rather be anywhere else but there. I specifically ordered the burger without pickles, because I can't stand pickles, and she kind of nodded and didn't write it down. This was actually the last I saw of her as she disappeared into the back to cook the food. Now the defining feature of the Round Up Burger, which is a variation on the BBQ western cheeseburger is the BBQ sauce, which was void on the burger I received, and it was absolutely loaded with pickles. A moment later another girl showed up, and I explained that I ordered it without pickles and that it was missing BBQ sauce. The second girl seemed eager to please, and was a vast improvement over the first girl. She brought BBQ sauce for my burger and removed the pile of pickles I had taken off the burger and placed upon a napkin on the side. I put the sauce on the burger, and took a bite, and it still seemed dryer than the Nevada desert I had driven through a few days before. But still, the second girl still seemed like she had a grasp on customer service and was checking on me constantly, attempting to gauge my satisfaction, or lack thereof. The fries were pretty good, hand cut, and seasoned. I also had a tea/lemonade drink, which the second girl was checking to see if I needed more. I don't exactly know what I was expecting from this location, perhaps I'd built it up in my mind from a previous visit, where everything seemed perfect, and got an experience that was anything but. I don't know either of the girls who work there, but I definitely think that the second girl tried hard to turn around a bad encounter, and deserves to be recognized for her efforts. While she tried hard, it still didn't sell me on going back there for anything other than a milkshake in the future.

tastee treat just doesn't give a shit about their quality of food. everytime i go there the food is trash. I ordered an order of tater tots and got a box of burnt tot crumbs all lumped together. absolutely disgusting that these people serve the food they do

- Excellent burger. Nothing fancy, just good. The burgers are not unusually large but certainly will be enough for most folks, along with a side. - Really funky, old diner. The layout with two separate areas accessed by different doors is actually kinda cool. I don't know why.

Quintessential old burger and shake joint! There soft serve is some of the best I've had. We like their burgers too. Fries were nice and hot. Free parking lot. Order inside or at the drive through. Very friendly staff!

Traditional hamburger and malt shops are almost a thing of the past and the ones that still do exist most often just are not good. Not the case with Tastee Treet! Homemade shakes of many flavors, hamburgers and cut fries are all just plain wonderful. Our banana shake gets 5 stars! The hamburgers were nice and my spicy fries were delish.

I'm a visitor in town and thought their food was pretty good. Fry's were a little greasy but burger was good. Milkshake was great!

The best Mountain Burger anywhere but be careful if you don't like sweet pickle relish on your burger (I ask them to hold it off).

Something happened and it's not great…read more Used to be, This place was awesome with fresh grated hash browns and fresh, large portions. Not so now. Small portions of Food Services frozen hash browns. Gravy on biscuits almost devoid of sausage. Nothing wonderful at all. Oh, the coffee. Absolutely awful. One older gentleman contented himself with a coke. Food left on the counter not being picked up . Anyways .... It's a bust. Hope they become professional servers and don't discuss yesterday's 'take' in front of customers. I am not interested in overhearing two women discussing this. When asked how we enjoyed our breakfast, I said it was ok but we loved and missed the fresh hash browns. That there used to be sacks of fresh potatoes in the hallway. The waitress said, "there were sacks of potatoes in the hallway? They grated their own potatoes? I'll have to check into that ..' What? I said, vyes there were. Everybody knew it. She is the reason we keep coming back, and by the way, while visiting, we come 2 to 3 nights in a row. The food is amazing. Love the Ribeye with the loaded mash potatoes. Bethany is the bomb, along with the staff and cooks in the back. We will be back. It takes us about 9 hours from Northern California. Club Pioneer gets my 5 stars.

When hubby found this restaurant, it was where we turned around last night, I couldn't believe, we didn't come here sooner, instead we went to another restaurant, and ended coming back here. (That's what happens, when you search and new in town). Flowers hanging on the front porch, and first impression display as you walked inside, got me! The plague on the wall, as you wait to be seated, all signs, we picked a good finale night to spend dinner. This time, we ordered what each wanted: Hubby ordered Prime Rib, thin sliced with side dish Wild Rice Pilaf. I ordered the Cod Dinner with side dish Bacon Pepper Green Beans. We shared a salad. And a complimentary Molten Lava Cake, with a candle on it. Thank you, Danielle! Only negative that I found? This is Prineville, Oregon, why butter from HOUSTON, TX? Is Oregon butter, not good enough, for Prineville? Also: After three nights, three restaurants, there's always the same Clam Chowder, do they get their supplies from one source, or are they from Texas, too!

When we pulled up behind a car at the drive-thru window, a friendly gal came out the side door and asked if we knew what we wanted. We told her we couldn't read the menu this far away so she quickly brought a menu to us. We chose the Breakfast Burrito & a heated Cinnamon Roll to split. That burrito was huge and so good! The cinnamon roll wasn't "Cinnabon" but it was still good & scratched our cinnamon roll "itch"! It's easy to miss this place if you're not paying attention. It's on the side of the gas station itself, rather than a free standing business. Just watch for their bright red menu boards. We'll definitely be back!

The service was not all that friendly, the lady that helped me at the drive thru did not make me feel very welcome. I asked a few simple questions, like "what flavors of milkshake do you have?" and "what's your pink sauce?" and she made me feel kind of dumb for asking them. Overall, the food was good but I probably wouldn't go back because it wasn't worth the somewhat unfriendly/awkward interaction.
