Something happened and it's not great. Used to be, This place was awesome with fresh grated hash browns and fresh, large portions. Not so now. Small portions of Food Services frozen hash browns. Gravy on biscuits almost devoid of sausage. Nothing wonderful at all. Oh, the coffee. Absolutely awful. One older gentleman contented himself with a coke. Food left on the counter not being picked up . Anyways .... It's a bust. Hope they become professional servers and don't discuss yesterday's 'take' in front of customers. I am not interested in overhearing two women discussing this. When asked how we enjoyed our breakfast, I said it was ok but we loved and missed the fresh hash browns. That there used to be sacks of fresh potatoes in the hallway. The waitress said, "there were sacks of potatoes in the hallway? They grated their own potatoes? I'll have to check into that ..' What? Dad's Place was an awesome experience. The food was amazing and everything tasted fresh and well made. I had the "Old School" meal and it was the best breakfast I've had in awhile. The service was great and the staff were very friendly and attentive the whole time. The ambiance was very good and had a warm welcoming feel that makes you comfortable right away. Great affordable breakfast place - we went two days in a row - owner and waitstaff friendly and fun!

We were visiting Bend for a wedding and met up with a couple other couples for breakfast here. The food was really a surprise. Not a regular greasy dinner, everything tasted fresh and clean. My breakfast burrito (minus olives and mushrooms because that is just weird) was yummy. It's got a clean small town diner vibe. We arrived late, well after the other couples had ordered, and the waitress was lovely and accommodated us with not even a hint of negativity despite the place filling in substantially after we arrived. Great food and service! Stopped by while back in Prineville and found this gem of a restaurant. Atmosphere was good and clean. We had the cinnamon roll as an appetizer which was delicious. Our main breakfast dishes were good and the patty sausage is a must as it has a little bit of a spice was that makes everything a little nice! Sourdough pancakes were on point!! Reliable, tasty, a bargain, and worth a visit. Friendly staff has a family feel, and only a vague sense of underlying conservative hostility. Expect a TV offering survivalist gear, gunshops, hair-replacement ointments, and Alex Jones. The county sheriff will likely be in, with his inexplicably handgun-armed civilian buddy, at a table nearby in the small space decorated with old-west clichés and old-time photos of Prineville. Also: conservative, gun-toting, and probably everything else you expect from the town it's located within. I'll likely be back, but in heteronormative colouring for protection...but then, that's Prineville. read more

I have been in twice since the new owner took over. She was rude both times. First time was four of us she ignored us took over an hour to get our order. All the while helping others. Second time my husband went in with a our employees. There were 8 of them she wouldn't take their order for 1 and a half hours. The food was mediocre when we got it. read more

This Americana Style Diner Is Typical Of What You Would expect from any small town diner. The staff is friendly and quick to fill coffee and water. Fare is well priced and the daily specials are amazingly well priced. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and had high hopes, but it was bland. It lacked salt and pepper and the sausage, while plentiful, was flavorless. I was disheartened. My nephew had the garbage omelette which he really enjoyed so it wasn't all bad. NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS TO SAY HERE! we drive 28 miles just to enjoy a burger here. This is family run cafe and has been since they opened forever ago. The food is more than wonderful the home made desserts amazing!!!!! Do not ask for lunch before 11 am and do not even think to ask for breakfast after 11. No Matter if you get in there before 11 no matter how long before the wait is more than worth it. The ladies are so nice and the chef is of course DAD. Truly worth driving to and what a find! Prineville Oregon is not exactly a destination point on the maap but find it folks this place is great! read more

I had heard lots of great things about Dad's, and when asked by a friend for a recommendation for a good breakfast place in town, I suggested he try Dad's. Place is an older style diner, small, but busy. They are known for their sourdough cakes, so I ordered a small stack. The pancakes were okay. A little doughy. Couldn't really tell they were sourdough, no distinct flavor. My friend ordered the french toast and seemed to really enjoy his breakfast. He ordered a large grapefruit juice and received a cup the size of a big gulp! Great prices for the food portions. Would recommend again, and if I eat there, I will consider a different menu item. read more

Dad's has great food. I especially enjoy their burgers and fries. Breakfast is really good as well. The service is excellent.

Highly recommend! We've been here for burgers twice now and they are delicious and huge! The pile of fries that comes with are tough to finish and they are amazingly non greasy and not over salted in the least, in fact we added a little, which is rare these days. One thing to say is that burgers come with American cheese unless you specify cheddar, which we prefer. I had the bacon cheese this time and the bacon was thick, meaty and equally delicious! stopped in because this place was recommended to me. it is a cute little place, the people are friendly. it really gives you that Small town feeling, everyone knows each other. the food was just Blah. not good..not bad..just Blah. serving size was not big...not small. i have had tastier and more satisfying breakfasts at Elk Camp with food that i had to pack in on my back. price is very reasonable. if you just want a quick breakfast and a cup of coffee with no expectations go here. if you want a GOOD tasty filling stick to your ribs breakfast, do not go here. read more
