My fiancé and I came here Monday. We ended up spending about $42. we ordered seven eggrolls and one of the Obama eggrolls. We both agreed the Italian beef eggroll and the garlic Parmesan chicken were our favorites. He really liked the Obama eggroll, it was too spicy for me because it does have jalapeños. The Philly steak one was also very good. Our least favorite was honey mustard. That just tasted like a Mc chicken cut up in an eggroll and we did not really like that one. It had kind of a burnt chicken taste to it and very little honey mustard flavoring. I would definitely return. I want to try their tacos, wings and some of their rice bowls.

Jerk chicken egg roll Large regular fry

Today was my first time ever going to the restaurant. It's like a little hole in the wall type place, that I would have never tried, if it wasn't for tik tok lolll. The service was quick and fresh. There wasn't a lot of traffic in the place, so that gave points on my overall experience. I ordered the jerk chicken egg roll and the large regular fry, with mild sauce. Overall, the food was okay. Nothing was awful, but also nothing stood out either. The jerk chicken eggs roll, was very flavorful. It was filled with a lot of chicken, and the jerk spice was coated on everything. The size of it was, like the traditional egg rolls you get from Chinese food restaurants. The fries were okay. They were regular fries. Most comparable to fries from Nicky's Gyro. Just with mild sauce on them. The price for these items, was around $8. Which may seem minuscule, but I don't think the food was worth the price of the meal. For just one egg roll, it's $4-$9 (depending on the kind), which I think is ridiculous. But I get it, inflation. My experience wasn't a bad one, by any means. I would recommend this place for people who love these food items. However, I probably will not be back to this establishment.

Jerk chicken nachos...good but need some acid to cut some fat. I prefer nacho cheese

I've been twice I'm not far the jerk chicken nachos are good but they need some acid like fresh tomatoes as they are rich or salsa something. Also I prefer nacho cheese again still good. Service is always spectacular owner is professional.

I think my egg-roll search has concluded with Tastee & tbh this is a top contender but in the same vein I wasn't impressed. The rolls are on the smaller side but as far as outstanding flavor is concerned they simply don't have it. I will say that if I had to choose it'd be the chicken variations & although the jerk isn't super spicy it's still not the worst I've had in the city. The prices are fairly decent & everything is made to order to the best of my knowledge. One redeeming quality is the fact that my food was piping hot when I received it. I'm partly to blame because I also ordered something weird which was the jerky shrimp fries. Also the shrimp is super tiny like I didn't know shrimp came this small. My order came out in about ten minutes from ordering but I doubt there was enough incentive to make me a repeat customer.

Egg rolls are dry and not tastee at all. You get 1 egg roll for 4.50 and they're small and dry. The staff is very urban

What a great spot. Jerk shrimp and jerk chicken egg rolls are amazing and spicy. No seating just a line, so worth the wait.

I remember coming here back in 2013 just for their fried mushrooms. They've long been a South Side staple for soul-style vegetarian food. The atmosphere has shifted a bit as of 2026. It now operates more like a lunch counter, though there is still a small seating area in the back. Just note that everything is served to-go, even if you dine in, no traditional plates. It's a popular spot, so depending on when you go, there may be a bit of a wait. That said, the food is absolutely worth it. I tried a variety of items, including cauliflower, barbecue seitan, dressing, and noodles, and everything was delicious. The flavors were rich, comforting, and exactly what you want from soul food. The portions were generous, but not so heavy that I felt overly stuffed. If you're looking for a standout vegetarian option, this is a must-visit. It's also a Black-owned business and a true staple on the South Side. Honestly, if you enjoy vegetarian food, Soul Veg City is worth the trip. This is how you season food. 5 out of 5 stars.

On one side is the bar and a few TVs to watch the games, giving it a louder sports bar kind of vibe. On the other side there are a bunch of tables--almost like picnic tables.
