Breakfast pastries
Christopher L.

Breakfast pastries for my family. Cookies for colleagues and students. Birthday cakes for family and friends. There's always a good reason to stop in at Tarrytown Pastry Chef, and over the past several years they've never failed to delight me with their baking. They have a wide variety. The typical spread of breakfast pastries includes all manner of traditional Danishes, croissants, muffins (cappuccino is my favorite), and donuts, as well as surprises like Portuguese custard tarts and lobster tails (sfogliatelle). When I bring a box home for family and friends, we end up dividing up each item so that everyone can try everything. Their food is delicious. In pre-pandemic times, my go-to treat for my students was a box of assorted cookies. The delight on their faces as they chose between the beautifully decorated cookies was matched only by their joy in wolfing down the treats. They offer good value. Even after going here for several years, I am always surprised by how low the price is when they ring me up for a full box of pastries. This is true for cakes and everything else on offer. Their competitive pricing really leaves no excuse for passing them up for the supermarket. They are reliable. We've done special orders here for cookies, cakes, and cupcakes on several occasions, and the orders always are accurate and ready on time.

There are not many places left that make fresh homemade doughnuts. For that 5 stars alone. Doughnuts are fresh and delicious!!

Italian Creek puff was so amazing. Super sweet and creamy. So delicious. I should have ordered coffee with it as well. This place has so many different desserts to choose from, all looking so incredible. Staff was also very helpful and friendly as I made my selection. Can't wait til I try the cookies later

This Pastry store is one of the finest in Westchester. I haven't brought any pastry yet which wasn't simply fabulous. Maria and staff her helpful and greet you with a smile. I've gotten a 50th Birthday Cake Im October which was simply marvelous and decorated so beautiful. I was amazed on the detail and the filling was super! I highly recommend this pastry store to all of my friends. I included a picture of my fabulous cake!

Best Bakery in town. Lovely Staff and outdoor tables available as well. No pics this stop in since I house whatever I buy immediately.

In fairness to them, English speaking bakeries do it too but in English. The staff speak some English making it a bit difficult to find out what it is or if you have allergies whether or not to avoid it. The staff is friendly. The prices are standard bakery prices. I had the conejo and Berlin crema which are the exact same thing but different presentation. I had the erizo which you need a fork to eat. I did not know that and it is like trying to eat chocolate cake with your hands (if you did not get the fork). The most memorable part was a male staffer that really did not want to work and wanted everyone to know it. He spent his time kissing his girlfriend, talking to her, and letting her touch his chest. I know he worked there because he went behind the counter when they were done but she stayed to talk to him over the counter.

They have fresh pastries, sandwiches, and the best/strongest coffee I've ever had! There are a few tables here, so you could sit inside. Or, you can grab your food/drinks to go. The staff was very friendly and nice here. I am so glad I found this place. I can't wait to stop in again soon.

I arrived at their location on Main Street around 5pm, and a few other Too Good To Go customers were also on line. I was told by the guy at the counter that I was going to get their last cottage pie of the day. It was the first one I had ever tried and it tasted delicious when heating it up at home. I was expecting a slice and got a whole pie (mini, but definitely lasted a few days). Will definitely be back to try other slices!

Quick Review: Pies:…read moreReally Good! Coffee: Really Bad! Service: Bad! Full Review: Tried to go for coffee and to maybe try a slice of pie on Saturday morning. Online hours said they open at 9am. We tried opening the door, it was locked. Saw a young gentleman inside, figured he'd come open the door... he didn't. The sign on the window sill even said "Open". Waited until 9:30 and the doors still weren't opened. Rule 1 of a business, be open when your online hours say you will be open... Fast forward to Sunday. We decided to try 1 more time, this time we didn't get there until around 10am just to make sure they were actually open. We are greeted by a young lady who started off the experience well. She asked if we had ever been, if we are from the area and what we were interested in. She then recommended a few different pies which we ordered a few slices of. We decided to place our coffee order first. I got their seasonal special Banana Foster latte and my girlfriend got a shaken espresso with maple brown sugar cold foam. The young lady clearly had no idea what she was doing when it comes to coffee. She asked my girlfriend if she wanted her shaken espresso hot which should've been our first sign to maybe go elsewhere for coffee. She proceeds to ask a few more questions to which my girlfriend answered. We then waited about 10 minutes to get our 2 slices of pie and 2 iced coffee drinks. When she was handing me the coffee she said "sorry that took so long I was just really confused by the order".... I should've refused the coffee right there. So you tell me that you are confused about what you were doing and decided to just go ahead and make it anyway? A shaken espresso, for the record, is a menu item... it's not like we asked for something they didn't offer or try to custom order. If you do not understand the order or are unsure what to do then just say that. We would rather you be honest and save us the money than just wing it and give us horrible coffee that is going to leave us dissatisfied and wanting to never return to your establishment. The fact that she tried to play the victim by claiming we confused her is horrible customer service, just to wait to let us know she was confused until after she gave us our coffee... horrible all around. The ONLY saving grace for this experience was the pie itself. It was absolutely delicious. We tried the key lime and passionfruit. The passionfruit pie was some of the best pie I've ever had. I will go back to try a few of the other pies I didn't get to try this time around, but that's all. Do not ever go here for coffee. You will be disappointed.

I have a sensitive stomach, and I really appreciate that they offer such a wonderful variety of both gluten-free and traditional options, which makes it a great place to bring friends as well. The croissant was not good, it was not buttery and flaky and was rather bready and dense. The apple turnover lacked the same flakiness and flavor. The ice cream was a fine regular plain ol vanilla but it wasn't good enough to go out of my way for. And I wanted to get some soup to take for my lunch too but it was over $20 for what looked like a quart (?) and I didn't want that much and definitely didn't want to pay that much for it when I didn't know if I was even going to like it. I was so disappointed because everything looked so good but the flavors and textures (and prices) just were not there.
