I just came from taroo and I had another great shopping experience. Allison is a great salesperson, she's extremely knowledgeable about the styles and knows what will look great on you. She isn't pushy and does a great job making you feel comfortable and will only sell you what you will look good in. This type of experience will make me want to come back for more and keep being a loyal customer. Keep up the great work Allison and thanks for always having fun trendy clothes and accessories. I look forward to keep shopping with you by my side. read more

I shopped at the 3rd Avenue store and had a great experience. Both employee and what seemed to be the manager/owner (not sure which) were extremely helpful. While sifting through all of their items we were discussing what I might like and explained what my preferences were and I also had a friend with me trying to get me out of a old color palate. They knew just what to do and I came out with a beautiful wrap that has many ways in which it can be worn. It was right up my alley! I'll certainly be back. P.S. I was also looking for leggings which were out of stock in at the 3rd ave store but they had at the 1st ave store. Grade A on customer service for me! read more

Shop at H&M ... you can get the same quality, better service at a better price. The staff is rude and obnoxious. The quality of the goods are extremely poor (we had a bag break within a day) and they don't accept refunds - just store credit. Why would I want store credit if the quality and shopping experience is poor? I have $90 dollar store credit and I am willing to give away to anyone as I don't want want $90 worth of crap. read more

Personally, I'm not a fan of the assortment available at Taroo but this location does have the widest selection out of all their other stores. I'm rating the store based off the service I received from Chanler. I rarely ever see anything unique at Taroo but one long grey maxi dress with pink trim and tassels caught my eye. At $118, it was a no-go but once the dress went on sale for $50, I thought the style made up for where the quality lacked. However, the TaRoo by my apt in Murray Hill did not carry my size so the super sweet salesgirl (she always remembers me when I walk in just for a quick browse) called the other 2 stores and located the sz Small at 1480 1st. So last Friday, I went over at 8PM and Chanler was extremely accommodating. There were other customers in the store but she was able to assist all of us without making any of us feel neglected. With her help, I not only purchased the dress, I also purchased 2 pieces of jewelry based on her opinion on what looked best. The store closes at 9PM and despite my late arrival, she was patient and accommodating and I did not feel rushed at all. I've only ever purchased 2 items out of the 10 years I've lived in Murray Hill from TaRoo. And after one visit to 1480 1st and with Chanler's help, I walked away with 3 great pieces. read more

Great boutique with great service. I came across this little boutique while strolling uptown and searching for a last minute birthday gift for my girlfriend there selection for trendy clothes and accessories helped me find the perfect gift. Best part was this boutique stays open late. read more

I love the clothes and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I got some of the nicest outfits at Taroo and every outfit was worth every penny. The quality of the clothes was as good as any department store and the sales help was so good. It was like having my own personal shopper. They were so honest and made sure I didn't buy anything that didn't look amazing. It was so nice to be in a store that is family owned and has true integrity. It makes me very sad to see someone write things that are so untrue about the nice people at Taroo shame on you!!! read more

Awful service and no return back policy! Cheap clothes too!

DO NOT SHOP THERE!!! I went there about a week ago and was in the dressing room line to try on two dresses that were on sale. The sales person told me I had to wait until the customers with the regular priced items tried on their clothes. I was in shock! I just handed her the dresses and as I was leaving she proceeded to say " we have a bathroom if you want to try them on in there". VERY RUDE!!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and DISCRIMINATION!!!!! DO NOT SHOP THERE!!! and spread the word! Plus they are very overpriced and you can find the same items in other boutiques or even at Forever 21 for a lot cheaper. read more

My first time in the store was rather weird...the store clerk never said a word to me until her white customer left.NEVER GOING BACK!!!Store clerk was not nice at all!! read more

bought clothes the other day - was told there was a one-day sale in which every regular-priced item was 50 bucks. The saleswoman was very helpful and reiterated the ONE-day $50 sale a few times. So i bought a couple things...and the salesperson was quite pushy so i ended up buying a couple more items. i walk by the next day to see the same $50 sign was up!!! Apparently, they are pushy AND liars. And when ive been in the store before, the sale people are generally very rude. the clothes are not of the best quality - but they are cute so im not too upset :) read more

I have mixed feelings about Taroo. I've popped into the store probably a dozen times, and almost every time the people working there have been very nice and helpful. Once, however, the salesperson was *extremely* rude and visibly annoyed that I tried on several items but didn't end up buying anything. I've never encountered her again, though, so maybe (hopefully?) she's gone. As for their clothes, I find them to be a bit overpriced and not super well-made. That said, I LOVE the few items I have from there (a bag, a dress, and a top) and have gotten tons of use out of them. The bag lasted me four or five seasons; I think it's time to retire it, though, as it's looking kind of ragged and the "leather" is peeling off in places. The dress and top both have assorted threads here and there hanging off from them. However, I love them both so much that I deal with it; they're unique and I've never seen anyone else with them and I get tons of compliments whenever I wear them; I just wish they had cost me about $10-20 less. read more

Checked out a jacket there, it was a BLANKNYC jacket that is on sale all over for 88.00 since it's an old model...Salesperson told me that its 189.00 and that's the price....I chuckled..as savvy NewYorkers they would think we know our stuff! I asked if they price matched and it was as if she never heard of that....passsss in a big way! read more

Let's begin with the staffing. The woman who runs the shop in the owner's absence is unprofessional and rude. She also doesn't know how to properly run credit cards. Not only did she charge me in advance for items that ultimately were not in her inventory, but instead of isssuing a credit, she charged my card a second time in the amount of the credit. When I reached her to try to resolve this issue, she conceded she doesn't know how to run a credit and would have to wait for the owner. I called again to follow up and the owner didn't return my calls OR issue the credit for items out of inventory OR the second charge run on my card. read more

junky stuff, ridiculous prices and nasty management ...if I could've given zero stars, I would've ...

Some Taroo employees are nicer than others, but management is THE WORST. I bought a pair of black pants, had tried them on in the store but didn't notice until I put them on at home (more natural light, I guess?) to wear them for the first time that there were STAINS AROUND THE CROTCH -- very faint but definitely there. I tried to exchange (not even return, I would've been fine with store credit) the pants, with tags still on and a receipt, and they would not accept them because it had been more than 10 days. I spoke to a manager, politely said I understood their policy was 10 days for returns, but that selling pants with crotch stains was unsanitary and exceptions should be made. She was rude and unapologetic, saying that the fact that the pants were on sale excused the stains, and I should just try to wash them. EW! That's like Victorias Secret re-selling previously worn underwear. So gross. I used to shop at Taroo fairly often but will NOT be going back anymore. read more

they discriminate! im indian and yes....they are very snotty,...posing as some high end boutique!!!!!!!!all of their clothing can be found at forever 21 and other stores in the mall for 1/4 the price! big rip off, terrible customer service, they even have jeans that are made by another company and they poorly stitch their store name right next to the original tag!!!! im sorry but that's not right! on top of all that, they dont have a regular cash register! they use a calculator and add up your tax and item price, then they write you a receipt....i mean really????? you have to wait forever for it, and its not convenient for customers, very pre-historic, they dont do refunds which is infuriating when u see the same thing u bought one day later for less than 1/2 price. i mean at least match the price if you're not going to give me a refund, i dont want your store credit , which will only give me another piece of clothing that will put me in the same predicament again. a hint: if your customers are spending $100 on a shirt that costs $24.00 in forever21, at least give them good service, and some type of reward system like after 10 items u get something free. i read the post on the girl that had the sale items and was asked to let the customers with the regular items use the fitting room first, how pitiful....what goes around comes around, and people should be treated fairly. ....i mean afterall,...you're just after the money and money has no race. read more
