Fun way to spend a bit of time on vacation. Interesting stories and great way to learn a bit about Tarnished Truth

We went here for a tour. The distillery is located inside of the hotel Cavalier. There were about 10 of us and it took about 45 minutes. This is definitely a small batch type of set up. They do everything except age the barrels in a small area. The tour is similar to other distillery type tours. We then went into a tasting room area which was very nice. We tried 4-5 samples of their various batches. They have a bourbon, a rye whiskey, and others. The bourbon and rye were both good. You can buy a bottle there or at the local ABC store in Va Beach. It was a good time overall

Phenomenal product with an amazing and impressively historical facility. The tour and tasting were incredible, and the tour guide absolutely ruled. HIGHLY recommended!

Stopped by Tarnished Truth after having beverages at our hotel bar and realizing that the distillery was just down the block. The distillery is in the lower level of the Carlisle Hotel - simply magnificent building from the early 1900s. The Hunt Room is an old dark, handsome bar with great service and kind staff. We would have loved to have spent hours here and around the property. We will return and perhaps have a bite to eat next time, as well.

Did a tasting with the guys. Wonderful tasting. Priced super well and the hosts were amazing. They have two type of tours which is facility and tasting tour or extended tasting tour but we ve been to so many the extended made sense to us. Hosts were so knowledgeable and awesome to hang out with. All selections were great and sequentially properly placed. Would definitley come here again. We wanted to try the attached bar but it wasnt open at the time.

If you ever have the opportunity to take the Distillery Tour & Tasting at the Tarnished Truth Distillery, please do so. You will not be disappointed at all!!! The Distillery was located in the lower level of The Cavalier and opened promptly at 2pm on Sunday. I arrived at the Distillery around 1:30pm and was a little nervous when I saw the 'Closed' sign in front of the entrance but once I asked around, the staff told me that it should be open at 2pm and they were right. Once all parties were present, we were guided through the Distillery and learned an abundance of knowledge about bourbon, how it originated and the process of how the machines and barrels turn it into drinkable spirits. My favorite part was actually being able to taste the fermented grains in the Fermenter machine located in the Distillery; it wasn't as bad as I thought lol. Once the tour was over, we headed to the Tasting Room and sampled four of their bourbons. Each bourbon had a different flavor profile but my favorite was the Bourbon Cream Liqueur. The Tour & Tasting was about an hour long and at the end, we perused through the gift shop before heading out. You definitely don't have to be a bourbon fan to enjoy this experience. Our tour guide was absolutely amazing and shared with us that the Distillery was created by two Virginia Beach natives which I absolutely loved! If you are looking for something fun and unique to do in the area, definitely check out the Tarnished Truth!

    We liked them all

Booked the Distillery Tour & Tasting in advance for our stay at The Cavalier. Took us longer to get to Virginia Beach than we expected, so we arrived just as the tour was starting, but they were kind enough to make us feel welcome and that we hadn't missed anything. Tour is just the right length of time. No boring spots. Informative in an entertaining way, and what's not to love about the tasting? We got to try four of their bourbons plus a vodka and a gin. All very good. I surprised Husband with a purchase of the "premium" tasting which included a small pour of another bourbon plus a glass to take home. Since we can't purchase their fine products in NC, needless to say we spent quite a "few" bucks in their shop LOL. In addition to bottles, they have canned "mixed" drinks as well. They also sell hats, and shirts and even a smoker if you want to make your own smoked drinks, which we do. Bourbon lovers, highly recommend this, whether you're staying at the hotel or not.

Our group of eight had a reservation to visit. It was easy to make a reservation online. Our guide was great. She had a bubbly personality and was very interesting. It was great learning about the different products and the distilling process. The tasting room is really nice. It was quaint and made the tasting feel very special. Definitely recommend!

The entire tour and the amazing tastings were all coordinated very well by Tyler and Joe. We would definitely recommend this tour to anybody who's a bourbon lover we ended up buying four different bottles and going there two different times one for the tour and small tasting and then going back a couple days later for the advanced tasting which was amazing. Then afterwards we headed over to the Hunt's room which was beautiful great service great food and great drinks we shared an appetizer of poutine fries a main course of fish and chips and also got smoked old fashioned and a drink we'd never had called rye of the tiger which were both amazing

Whisky? History? Whisky? What else do you need? This place was epic. I took a group of 13 out for a tour and tasting today. We got a lot of history, a lot of facts on distilling and a ton of fun (and a tiny buzz). I would recommend this place to any whisky aficionados or rookies like myself. It was a great time and Karrington was the best tour guide ever. Can't wait to enjoy my bourbon in my souvenir glass when I get back home to AZ!

After finishing the tour she suggested trying one of the cocktails at the Cavalier Hotel which is upstairs from the distillery.

I saw the event advertised on social media and knew I had to check it out. It's gourmet specialty hot dogs paired with a wide selection of martinis, from classics like lemon drops and cosmos to more unique options like the pickletinis and caprese tinis. I went with a couple of friends around 5:45 and it was packed, but luckily people were leaving as we arrived so we were able to grab a spot. It was a little too chilly to sit outside, but they do have additional seating and I'd definitely sit out there when it's warmer. The food was great. I got the kimchi hot dog and loved it. The brioche bun really stood out, and the chili truffle oil fries were amazing. Everything comes out on a cute little tray, which was a nice touch. For my drink, I tried the pickletini. It was good, but definitely strong, especially if you're new to martinis. One friend got the caprese-tini, which was surprisingly good and came with a caprese skewer, so you get a little snack with it. My other friend got a dirty martini, which she enjoyed, and even as someone who isn't big on olives, I thought it was pretty good. Overall, we all had a great time and will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

We always have such a great time at the drink making class and this was no exception. Marissa was our teacher and she was excellent! She was knowledgeable about the product and great with helping us make the drinks. She was also fantastic when she let my friend and I swap one of the syrups, hazelnut, for almond since we don't like hazelnut anything lol. The one sort of downside to this particular visit is it would've been nice to know they can't sell any bottles of alcohol after nine. My friends and I spent some time chatting after the class and when we went to buy some bottles, we were told we couldn't because it was after 9. Not a huge deal, but it would've been nice to know.

They are only open Friday 4-7, then Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7. So be mindful of that before driving all the way down to the beach. I wish they were open during the weekday, would be nice little after work hangout spot to catch a flight or two. The flights are $8 each and you get to choose 4 options. You can't beat that. I usually get two flights making my total $16 and I leave with a nice buzz. The customer service is really good. Our bartender carried on a conversation with us and kept us entertained. She's engaged and I'd like to wish her a happy wedding day. Over all I will continue to visit this spot, when open b/c I love how low key it is. I arrived around 6:30pm in hopes I could still order a flight, since they close at 7pm. Thankfully, they weren't in a rush to close at all. In fact, almost 10 people came in after me. The lady working there was pretty nice and personable and the place was very clean. The flight includes 9 different flavors and you are able to choose 4 flavors for the tasting. My friend and I ordered our flights and enjoyed our tastings. Some we enjoyed more than others but it was still a good time and the drinks were very strong. My favorite was the Watermelon Ghost Margarita, which was made with fresh, watermelon juice and tequila with smoked ghost pepper.
