Despite their busy schedule they accepted the tow in, and told me they'd get back to me by the end of the week (it was a Tuesday). By Wednesday, I was driving out of the lot with no fee. The battery had died and they recharged it and gave me a call right away, and assured me they checked other systems to be sure there were no errors. I was only temporarily in the area and needed a mechanic's help. My car was still running fine but I had a super aggravating issue of my window going down part way and getting stuck. I tried fixing it myself --I bought a replacement switch at a parts store, replaced it, all without success. The parts store recommended a new motor and regulator --I picked that up but realized it was over my head. So, I tried the dealership first, they were quick to tell me it was out of warranty but offered to "take a look" for a steep diagnostic fee. Fortunately for me, I was in the area and decided to give Gold Wrench a shot. So, I called and made an appointment. I showed up just a few minutes before my appointment and basically immediately my car was pulled around for them to set to work. How many times can you say you went to the mechanic and they were on time!? I mentioned I had replaced the switch without success and that I had the regulator/motor in the car. Everyone working here was super friendly, seemed enthusiastic about being welcoming, and about providing professional service. They also had a waiting area with a bathroom, free bottled water, and TV while you wait. Within a few minutes, the mechanic came out grinning. I thought "oh no.." but, fortunately he had good news! Turns out, I didn't need a motor/regulator change. The glue on a piece of soundproofing foam in the door had let loose during the temperature change and was physically blocking my window from going down. In the past I've been to mechanics that would have written up a massive bill (such as Miami Lakes Jeep) or told me they changed a part but didn't (Jiffy Lube in Miami). My bill was totally appropriate for their time, I left with a fully functioning window, was able to return the part I didn't need, and most of all, I found a family mechanics business that I could trust. If I have more mechanic needs while in the area or speak to anyone who does --Gold Wrench will be the place to go. Thank you for running an honest business!

I had to pay for a tow back to their shop. Several days later they told me it was a burst radiator hose. They never replaced the hose! Ladd Auto then charged for AGAIN for labor, new coolant, and parts. (An extra $167 on top of the $120 tow) A few days later my car started smoking again. This time from an oil leak dripping onto my heat shield. They changed the oil in my car, even put the sticker in the windows, then denied the oil change when I brought the car back. I took my car to another shop. Now, just a few weeks later, I am experiencing a coolant leak again. I went here because the reviews raved about honesty. This was not the case for me! When I mentioned it, the mechanic told me to bring it back if it continued. When I took it back for them to try to determine the problem, they had no record of me or my previous visit in their system--even though I paid them twice. They claimed I needed an alignment due to uneven wear, but I'd had one just 6 months earlier and hadn't hit any potholes. A trusted mechanic later confirmed my differential had chunks missing from it ($850 repair). Talking it over with a friend, who explained what was required to do such damage, it became clear: someone must have taken my car (a twin-turbo) for a joy ride after the tire install and hit something hard enough to damage both the alignment and differential. Bottom line: avoid this shop--your car may come back worse than when you dropped it off.
