One day, I get fed up with the long lines and poor customer service at Wal-Mart, so I went to Target and continued shopping there for years, until I switched back to going to Wal-Mart. Here's my overall impression of Target:
-It's clean
-It's well organized.
-I've constantly gone to the grocery section of Target, only to see that they are out of some of my favorite products. Even at Wal-Mart, if they run out of something, they will have it back within 2 or 3 days most. At Target, I have seen some of my favorite grocery items out for weeks at a time!
-Usually, my experience with the cashiers is that they are pleasant. However, dealing with the people on the sales floor is a different experience. Some of them seem clueless as to the job they are doing. I get it, you're not going to know about every product in the store, but can you at least find a co-worker to help me, that does have answers to my questions.
-In regards to new DVD and Blu-Ray releases, I have gone into Target the same week a movie came out, only for it to be sold it. I have never had that problem w/ Wal-Mart. This has happened A LOT over the years with Target.
-One time when I was shopping there, I told the cashier I was paying some in cash and some on my card. She rung the whole thing up on my card. I had her get the store manager. He came over. I informed him that by having the cashier ring the whole transaction on my card, it was going to over draft my account. He said they would pay whatever over draft fees if I brought them something from my bank to show them. I did as they told me to, but they still refused to pay for their mistake. It took going back and forth with the store for 4 days to get them to fix it. It was a very frustrating process!
-Sometimes on the site, it will say an item is in stock in the store, but it will take several days for that item to appear on store shelves.
-In regards to clothes or other misc. merchandise, Target can tell you if another location has it. Problem is, when they told me another location had it, they really didn't! That is a big waste of my gas money!
-Prescriptions are far more costly and pharmacy service is lackluster. The one + to there pharmacy, there is never any lines!
So why did I switch back to going to Wal-Mart for the most part? If I am going to pay more at Target, I expect them to be stocked with everything I need in my visit. I got too frustrated with them being sold out of new release movies and grocery items I wanted forcing me to make more trips. Even if Wal-Mart is a bit more on the crowded side and not as clean, they generally do a better job of making sure the stuff that is supposed to be in stock in the store is there. read more
