My dislike for the necessity that is Target is still alive and well... Before grabbing our Christmas tree in the parking lot that Target shares with Home Depot we decided to step inside of Target for a few ornaments, odds and ends, and wine to kill the pain of this trip. What is it with this place? Is everyone lethargic, lazy, and disconnected from planet earth? Seriously, customers just wander aimlessly and without regard for the other shoppers. You'll find yourself dodging the carts of the shopping zombies picking things that they don't need but must have off the shelves. It's because of this type of shopper that I choose grocery stores over Target as most people know what they want and get the heck out as fast as they can, but not the case at target. Sure, Target is great for a lot of things but your sanity is not one of them. I'll stick to Amazon when possible but have come to grips with the fact that not by choice, I will enter the depths of Hell again sometime soon. read more

I went to pick up a few items at target on 3/14 around 5:30- some cleaning products, makeup, clothes a book a bottle of wine. I went to go check out and I didn't think much of it and let the cashier go about scanning, bagging my items and then paid. Once I got home I noticed I am missing the bottle of wine and one of my cleaning products- yet I was charged for them in my receipt! I took awhile to leave as I had to drop off my cart and prepare myself to walk out in the rain, the cashier made no attempt to grab my attention for the items she didn't bag. Once getting home I even rechecked car to make sure nothing fell out while driving. It's a very rainy day so I decided to just try and call and maybe get a refund. I called twice and the phone rang and rang and rang and no one picked up either time. Tried calling a third time and it said I couldn't call anymore! Store is trashed-- as another reviewer noted, this feels like a Walmart. Except it is much more poorly stocked than most Walmarts. Shelves are half-empty at best, with some aisles almost completely barren. Items that are marked as in stock online are missing. This store has gone downhill in the past few years. Please let me say that the two stars are based on my experience with customer service today and *NOT* my overall opinion of this location and Target in general. Anyway, I was there to return am air mattress I purchased yesterday, (Aug. 2). I opened it and when I realized it was not a self-inflating matress I decided to return it (with receipt in-hand). I was told that "due to CA law, the item is not allowed to be returned." The woman I spoke with said it can 'only be exchanged" as in, for another air mattress. (This does not make any sense). She also told me that there area signs in the aisle that say there are no returns for the product. I told her I was not aware of any signs yesterday and when I purchased it the cashier did not tell me that the item cannot be returned. The customer service woman said, "no, they wouldn't because that's why there are signs that say there are no returns." She also asked why I didn't want to exchange it and I explained that I purchased the type that I needed from Dick's Sporting Goods nextdoor. I have a lot on my plate and I admit I did not have a friendly time when I said, "so, what you're saying is that I wasted $60" This woman's response was "yeah, I guess so." -- in otherwords she blames the customer!! Look, if there are signs then fine it's on me. However, I walked through the aisle again and there are NO SIGNS or displays, or writing on the packaging itself to indicate that air mattresses cannot be returned (only exchanged) due to California law. A return policy is not printed on my receipt either. Which makes me wonder why a purchased item can be exchanged after it's opened.. because wouldn't it be put back on the shelf to be sold anyway?? Target Management needs to have some kind of training in customer service because blaming Your customers is outrageous. I think this should be communicated with cashier's so customers are aware of this strange policy. read more

Sad to say I won't be returning to this location. Sticking to the balboa location. The employees here are rude and give you dirty looks. The ambiance of this whole store and energy is so ugly and dirty. Even the other customers are extremely rude. Not to mention how inconsiderate it is when your trying to pay with your target credit card (split payments ) the cashier told me "I don't know if itl work you usually have to pay the cash first then the target credit card" I don't have time to calculate and figure out the difference I need to give you FIRST in order to use some money from my target credit card on my total. read more

Not much of a Target fan as is, but this location certainly adds to my disdain. Not only are there homeless people strewn among the entrance and inside the Starbucks, but patrons are always harassed by people trying to obtain signatures for a new soccer field or other unimportant causes. Inside, shelves are always in disarray and prices are much higher than other department stores. Adding to the unpleasant experience, the check-out lines are always extremely long. I usually only shop here out of convenience, but with the disorganization, long lines, and piles of collected (most-likely stolen) homeless belongings, I think I will pass on Target in the future. read more

I give three starts because of the kind two young guys who assisted me while looking for some items which were not at the store. The issue is when I came across a very bad apple. This was a lady who was stoking a shelved and when asked she just send me away and couldn't care less. Later on, I was on the personal care area about 6:15-6:30 pm august 22z and I asked her for help but I made the mistake of speaking to her in Spanish accidentally as she looks very Hispanic like me, to which she answered very upset that she doesn't speak Spanish with a very unfriendly face as the previous encounter. Then I said: do you speak English so she helps me lol to which she replied she was off the clock and on her way out lmao Target is meant to be a higher end store. So I got here before closing, out of the pet food I went to get, out of most toilet paper brands, out of any practical adult shower curtains, been empty stocked like this for a while now, 30 people waiting in two open lines, literally closing the other checkouts makes zero sense, making people stay in the store longer. Back and forth with the toys department here due to an item got moved to further date on release, item supposed to come out July 1st then got moved to August 1st, came here about 4 times, item listed in stock but was street dated, then came to find out item not being set to display yet, still sitting on the pallet, because employees refused to get the item for me and also they have a new setup display they won't do until August 5th, this was told by a head of the toys department, at this point I felt like I should brought it to the attention of guest services whoever in charge there, unfortunately they said if the head of toys department told me that then it was nothing they could have done but offering me a gift card for my trouble, so they gave me a $5 gift card, it's still better than nothing but I kinda got tired of Target miscommunication. read more

Despite living far away from this location, I actually like this Target and Mission Valley's a bit more than others. This one in Point Loma seems less bustly than others, with less of a crowd inside. Parking also is generous. When I went to get my flu vaccine, the visit went fairly well and was in/out without incident. Pretty regular Target experience, otherwise. read more

The mini rolling shopping basket frames are designed to fit a shopping basket and condition the next generation of shoppers to follow the red bullseye banner. Clever kiddie cart in theory, but a flawed design for youngsters that don't quite get the concept of steering. The problem is that the rear wheels also spin 360 degrees like the front wheels. Luggage. Kiddo gets some momentum, then stands on the cart and glides across the floor. Too much lateral movement though. Sure, she gets the occasional "awww cuuute" from people, but I feet bad when she drives the cart across the aisle like a crazy person and into oncoming traffic. There's still plenty time to brush up on steering skills before the future Driver's Ed years -_- The store itself is fine. Snack bar and $tarbucks up front and the usual departments and grocery you'd expect at any Target. Someday, I'd like to take that security scooter for a spin sometime. read more

So I was in here for working on a few shopping orders and needed to use the restroom really quick. The family restroom has a coded lock on it so I asked an employee if he could open it for me to use really quick. He told me it is only for families and to use the women's restroom. I explained to him that I am not comfortable using the gendered restroom and he pretended he didn't know the code and then told me to use the women's restroom again. I guess I will have to just shop next door at Ralph's where they don't question my gender. I shouldn't be discriminated against and you shouldn't have single bathrooms if they are only for certain people. I thought target was more inclusive than that. It's a shame. read more

Went here the other day because it's close my dentist. I used to live in the area and this target used to be quite "user friendly." I'm sorry that I'm not bougie enough to like this spot anymore. They're trying to make this store upscale by having upgrades like big computer screens in the cosmetic isles and fancy dressing rooms, an Ulta inside and a starbucks. I had clothes to try on and they had 2/3 dressing rooms closed which limited the entire store to use one small co-ed dressing room with only four stalls. I waited in line for awhile to no avail and finally gave up, put the clothes back on the racks and simply left. I don't have time to adventure down these wanna-be high end isles where nothing seems to be organized and there's nowhere to try anything on. It's all looks. I actually felt like I was in the way just trying to walk down isles because there were so many workers with their own carts and agendas. Literally not one of them asked if I needed help with anything or even made eye contact. Not even a "hello." The cashier was unpersonable as well. despite me asking how her day was going and just generally trying to be friendly. I overall had a bad experience at this location and I don't think I'll be back. They're trying too hard to be high-end. I'd rather have no thrills, better customer service and available dressing rooms! read more

I'm not usually in this area but I do like this Target. It's always clean and not long wait time in the checkout lines. The only downside is the parking. Since this Target is in the heart of Point Loma and in a shopping center with several other popular/busy stores and restaurants, the parking lot gets very congested. And forget trying to fit in those tiny spots if you have a bigger car. read more

Y'all seriously need to fire Karen lol. I literally buy 2 items in front of her eyes and use Apple Pay hella quick, there legit was not even a line behind me. As an afterthought I said, "would you mind giving me change for this 20 Karen ?" A customer from afar came into line as I'm like mid sentence asking her this and she goes, "yeah but there's other people," as she rolled her eyes and looked away. I was stunned that she had the temerity and audacity to pretend like she cares about other people by virtue signaling. It actually would have taken her 2 seconds to do it but she legit just refused, I even asked her politely and nicely. I know she has never and obv will never own or run a business because rather than helping the customer at hand in front of her who already patronized the business and would even willingly patronize it twice just to get cash back, she acted like other customers were of a greater value. How botched. I said, "Oh Lord Karen" and just walked away like 10 feet to the Starbucks where Rebecca immediately greeted me and helped me and EVEN gave me cash back. Rebecca needs a promotion y'all! Karen needs a demotion y'all ! Happy New Year everyone ! Moral of the story is, even at the beginning of a new year, people act like how we all saw Karen did, botched. Does Target want us all to shop exclusively at Amazon? Aisles and aisles worth of goods are locked behind glass and they post one person per 6 aisles (sometimes) to do the unlocking. Last time I was there, there were 5 customers wandering around the personal care aisles waiting to get deodorant, face wash, sunscreen, etc while one person ran from place to place unlocking and relocking cabinets. Meanwhile, a group of four management type employees were hanging out in the grocery section chatting about bananas or what have you. Absolutely ridiculous. Especially considering that once someone takes their product from its fortress they can walk right through the self checkout area to the exit, maybe (or maybe not) paying for it along the way. Total fail here Target and great way to lose customers in a hurry. read more

Don't bother with their order-pickup service. Within the past 4 months, I've received 4 items that were well past their expiration date. Today I received cheese that was 2 months past expiration. How is that still on their shelves? They need to do a better job checking their produce. read more

Most of my drive-up orders lately have been wrong or missing items and today they left an entire bag out of my order - which of course included my dog's food so no way to feed the poor dog. I was also given expired meat & damaged produce (which has happened multiple times). I use this drive up service so that I can fit shopping into my day but will not be using it or shopping at this store again. read more

This target continues to get worse and worse as the days go by. Used to be one of my favorites but the overall decline of this one makes it terrible to come to. I came in for a quick visit and parked on the side of the drive-up entrance as I was just getting a few food items and the food is right next to this entrance. Right away I noticed the self-check out was closed which is usual for places like these now. After I got my items and went to go pay by the main entrance, I walked back to the entrance I originally came in through. Granted, it was the same distance I would've walked if I exited through the main entrance but it was a hot day today and I wanted to be in the cool environment of the store as much as possible. As I approach the entrance by the food section, an employee tells me that that entrance/exit is now closed. The same entrance I had just used 10ish minutes ago to come in through. I asked if it was possible to just exit out this way this one time, especially because I didn't know they closed this door at a certain time during the day, which they should probably make a note of and post by those doors. The worker said it wasn't possible for me to go through since the doors were closed already. He said this as some lady was walking away from paying self check out (apparently it was open despite the signs saying it wasn't?) and walking out the doors. I didn't appreciate the attitude of the worker and didn't like that he was basically letting the other lady go through. Maybe they should just close up this entrance/exit if customers aren't even allowed to use it (well I guess CERTAIN customers are). Last time I'll ever go to target. I ordered online for pickup to avoid going in general. But then I had to get hassled by a woman named Danisha because I wasn't standing in the right area for pick up. All while my baby is crying and making me already frantic for standing there and waiting while she checked out the two people behind me first. Then when she finished she said did anyone scan your barcode yet? She should've known, i was standing right next to her ringing up these people that walked up after me. I felt like she was airport security or something. She was very aggressive with her customer service. Not friendly or welcoming at all. I like this target. They're open til pretty late and it's perfect for when I want something to do after my night classes. They have a pizza corner and Starbucks with a pretty big sitting area. There's the $1 corner where there's always something new to buy for every holiday or just because. I skip the clothes section and just go straight to the travel pack wall and see what I can get for my next weekend trip: baby wipes, contact solution, hair stuff. There's always cute, fun cards to read if you're bored. I like buying plates and cups, especially if they're cute like for kids. I'm using them as my dogs food and water bowl at the moment. They have this pretty cool wine cork where you keep it in the bottle but you can open it and pour without taking it out. (Picture below) They were on clearance for just over $5 for 2. I mean, I don't like the colors but...oh well. Anywho, they have their holiday candy in the back right of the store and that's my last stop. read more

This is a nice, clean Target with a good selection of everything from soap to sheets to toys to groceries. You can also buy things online for store pickup. Customer service at checkout is always fast and friendly. Customer service, ironically at "customer service" (aka Returns) is sometimes hit or miss, but Steve is always cheerful and helpful. Target also makes it easy to return anything since they can look up any purchase on your credit card without a receipt, or they'll return something without a receipt with a picture ID (up to $70/year). If you have a registry with them you can return any gift without a receipt. With the great selection and long hour, it's always nice to have a Target nearby! read more

They were extremely helpful and patient with me in helping to transfer my data from my defective phone onto a new one. I've been going to this Target since I was in high school. I've always had a pretty good experience here. They almost always have a good supply of what I'm shopping for, prices are reasonable and the staff is pretty friendly overall. However, at this particular location, I have been told multiple times now by the cashiers that they do not accept manufacturer/vendor coupons. I understand not accepting coupons that customers bring from home or found at other stores but I found the coupons I wanted to use on products inside your store. If you don't accept manufacturer/vendor coupons, then why allow them to be placed on products you're selling? If you're not going to accept them, then please have your staff remove them before stocking your shelves. I don't want to pay full price and be teased with a coupon that I can't use. read more

I was in store around 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Went to the food section and when I went to the Coffee isle there was a small wagon parked at end of isle at the backside of area. The cart had a tightly packed bundle on top and on top of that was a Machete. The Machete blade was polished silver, about 18" long and add the handle and you have a good sized 24"+ long weapon. I examined the blade and the blade was sharpened. When I touched the blade, a distant voice was yelling to don't touch my stuff. The owner was at the milk area and quickly walked to his wagon. He was 6'2"-6'-4" tall, skinny homeless man wearing a bandana to conceal his face. I let him know it wasn't good that he had that Machete in plain view, etc. He quickly backed off and was apologetic so I didn't press the issue and there were no store personnel in that entire area. He proceeded to the back of the store and I walked to the kitchen ware area near main store entrance to intercept to make sure things weren't out of sorts. I saw him taking kitchen utensils off the wall, He now had another large tightly wrapped bundle full of store goods. The Machete was now bundled. I don't care about the homeless stealing . My issue was that the store allowed an obvious homeless man pulling a cart(which I really don't have an issue with), with a large Machete sitting in top of a tight bundle, readily accessible. Very obvious red flag that should have been addressed immediately by store security because of Machete. I saw that he had Machete exposed throughout most of his time in store. After I watched him exit the store pulling his cart load, I went to store personnel(several) to explain what had occurred. They abruptly told me it wasn't of any concern mine and basically just forget about it. I went to the security guard and told him and proceeded to leave from self checkout and saw what looked like a security supervisor. I had to go to him and then he asked for me to explain. Bottom line; sore security never identified a very tall homeless man with a mask to hide identity, pulling a cart with a large Machete sitting on top of cart which would be obvious to anyone on floor area and from a camera since it was non full display and silver contrast. Security had nothing to say but I let them know that they obviously dropped the ball and should be very embarrassed. They didn't dispute this. Store personnel reaction was almost rude and dismissive. As a side note; if the man had exhibited a certain behavior when I spoke with him I would have immediately called 911. But still why hadn't any employee or store security at least noticed a 6"-2" homeless ,man wearing a bandana to mask his face pulling a cart throughout the store with a Machete in plain view. read more
