Birthday girl's private lesson with Aris.
    andrea g.

We Came Nervous, Left Feeling Like Action Movie Stars! Bravo, bravo, bravo--I am speechless! What an absolutely fantastic experience I had at The Target Range. I had never shot a gun before, and for this to be my introduction, the bar has been set high, my friends. For my friends birthday, my wife arranged a private class for the three of us with Aris, and let me tell you--this man should be teaching a masterclass for future instructors. We walked in with sweaty palms, feeling unsure and nervous, and walked out feeling empowered, knowledgeable, and eager to do it again. His patience, professionalism, and passion for what he does left me in complete awe. The class was clear, informative, and to the point. While there was a lot of information to absorb, Aris knew exactly when to repeat the most critical safety points in a way that never felt overwhelming or monotonous. After the class, we moved to the shooting range, where he guided us through range rules, etiquette, and practical application. Having him there to offer real-time adjustments and tips made all the difference--it truly brought everything full circle. The Target Range--give this man a raise! He brings the passion, knowledge, and respect that the gun industry deserves. If you're a first-time shooter looking for a safe, educational, and confidence-building experience, I highly recommend booking a private class with Aris. We'll definitely be back!

George Doing great work assisting me with paper work

First walk in was interested buying a gun for first time . Asian dude with glasses was rude as hell and seem like he didn't want to be there . but then out came GORGE and he help me out. He help me in every step of the way from taking my test till choosing and buying my first gun thank god gorge was there because if I would left .I definitely would had a bad experience with some Asian dude with black glasses . I heard multiple complaints about him and when I was there he just seem trying to push customers away while gorge would try to help them . HUGE SHOUT TO GORGE ASK FOR HIM HE WILL HELP YOU OUT AND MAKE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE !!!!

I visited The Target Range in Los Angeles with two friends to celebrate a birthday on 11/26/2024. We were excited to try new handguns since we're all like firearms and have prior shooting range experience. Unfortunately, our visit was ruined by an employee with a black beard who behaved incredibly unprofessionally. From the moment we arrived, she/he had an unwelcoming attitude, as if hated us for no reason. Negative energy was overwhelming, and her/he demeanor made us feel completely uncomfortable. The employee gave curt, dismissive answers to simple questions, making it clear she/he had no interest in helping us. For example, I showed her/him a picture of a Smith & Wesson Shield I wanted to try, and she/he responded dismissively, saying, "They're all here on the stand," and claimed they didn't have it. Later, I noticed two were actually displayed, which made his/her response even more frustrating and misleading. While the shooting range itself is great, it's a shame that one unprofessional employee with a terrible attitude can ruin what should have been an enjoyable experience. Customer service matters, and I hope management addresses this issue to ensure other customers don't encounter the same treatment.

This was my first time at a any range. I was just stopping in to see how my fiancé was doing, knowing he has wanted me to join him for a long time now. I was apprehensive at giving it a go, but along with my fiancé, who is an expert, and the guys working that day, I had my first lesson on gun safety / use. I am that person who always asks a lot of questions, and this was no exception, especially because this was a serious thing for me to try and I wanted to be sure to be safe and respectful. The staff was very knowledgeable and patient, helping my fiancé with making me feel comfortable and confident in learning how to properly use a gun- thank you to the crew working that day! Each of the lanes were busy when I arrived, but my fiancé said they were half full prior to that. Overall it was a positive atmosphere, the staff were all making sure people stayed safe- I could hear them over the loudspeaker doing just that. If I'm going to continue to practice gun safety, this is definitely a place I'd come back to. My fiancé has been coming here for years and really likes everyone at Target Range.

Ask the Community - Target Range

Can I bring my own firearm and bring my own ammunition?

    Yes you can!

Can I shoot .223 ammo here?

Sorry Edgar, We do not allow .223.

What does the 1 year membership with you guys come with? And what's the price?

Hi Clark, Membership comes with free range time, most gun rentals free, and 10% off most ammo and accessories. 195.00 per year is the current price.

How do I schedule an appointment for a lesson? When I call the number, I'm unable to reach an actual staff member to give them my information.

Hi Carissa, You will be able to reach a staff member today after 11 am. We only answer the phone during our open hours.

Hello Im 19 and I'm trying to take my bf to this range for his birthday , will I be able to participate in shooting ? And say I booked a lesson , and have to purchase a rental , does it come with a round of bullets or do I have to pay separately?

We require at least 1 of the 2 people taking a lesson to be over the age of 21 and have a valid US state-issued ID. The ammunition is in addition to the lesson which includes the targets and gun rental.

Can you bring a range bag into the range?

Hi Jesse, Range bags are allowed on the range. We just ask that you keep your gear in your lane. Hope this helps.

Can you bring your own rifles and handguns to fire a range?

Yes, You can bring your own firearms to the range. We allow most handgun calibers on the range using full metal jacket ammunition, no exposed lead, no aluminum, no hollow point.

When is the least crowded time to go -- apply for permit & buy gun?

It's random. You never know from day to day. I suggest taking a class first prior to any purchase. Try before you buy.

    Do you also rent ar25?

Hi Edgar, Not sure what an AR25 is, but we do not rent ar-15 or variants. Most of what we offer is handgun related.

Do you guys have a really long line during this time or can we still walk in to purchase a firearm?…

Hi Nam, We have a line out the door, no appointments needed.

Is the shooting range also open during this time? Or only sales and transfers?

Hi Johnathan, The range is open for business along with ammo sales. I hope this helps, AK.

Do we need to make an appointment or can we just walk in ? First timers?

You just walk in, but keep in mind they do get busy on the weekends.

Do they do private party transfers?

    Yes but appointment only

I will say if you are starting from scratch, you can get the shirt with or without all the necessary basic patches. However, if you're getting it with all of them already included, they add on a $5 per patch 'sewing fee' as well as the cost of the patches if you were to buy them separately. If you have a sewing machine &/or a needle and thread and are resourceful, you can save a lot of up front cost by just buying all of the patches separately and sewing them on yourselves. The location is a tad tucked away. And if you come in on the Sherman Way entrance, note you'll have to walk through the offices to get to the back where the store is. It says you have to enter through the back from the front entrance, but there were two employees outside who said we could just walk on through.

The Sebenza purchase is actually a very funny and memorable story for me. One day, I was out for a drive with my three-year-old daughter, who always falls asleep better when I play music in the car. After she dozes off, I usually take her home and put her to bed. That day, while driving past the knife shop's new location, I noticed a celebrity walking into the store. I won't say who he was, but he's been around for a long time, and I'm a huge fan. Of course, I pulled into the parking lot and went inside right away. Besides the employees, it was just me and him in the store. I walked over to a display featuring some knives I had been considering for a while--kind of a grail knife for me. Clearly, I was just stalling, and everyone knew it, but they were kind and polite. Meanwhile, my three-year-old daughter ran all over the store, touching the glass display cases and leaving smudges everywhere. One of the employees casually followed behind her, quietly cleaning the glass but never saying anything rude to me or my daughter. After standing around for what felt like an uncomfortably long time, I decided to bite the bullet and make a purchase. I still have that knife and use it regularly, just like any other pocket knife. But every once in a while, I look at it, smile, and think about that day--the day I stood awkwardly close to one of my childhood idols, unable to say anything intelligible, while my daughter ran around making noise and leaving fingerprints on everything.
