In May I had an appointment and paid for glasses. I was told to be patient because the pandemic had the manufacturer held up. So I waited... for months because nobody called me. Apparently they came in May 23rd and even tho the manager said they called me (and clearly did NOT) it's not their policy to call again even if the product has been in the office for almost 4 months. This is bad business and lying to the customer's face is also not ok. I will NOT be back. Too bad, because Dr Fountain is the sweetest. I highly recommend her expertise but don't count on the office manager to do her job well and maybe try to call more than once... even tho that didn't happen at all to begin with. Very quick and efficient eye appointment, the sales associates were also super helpful in helping me find the correct frames for my face.

I've visited the sales area twice and both times I've witnessed the rudest staff I can imagine. This one associate stood behind the counter the entire time and complained about phone calls. I asked a couple of simple questions and could tell she had no interest in helping me. When I left she said very loudly "well all that for nothing". I wanted so bad to turn around and tell her off but just walked away instead. For someone in sales. She needs an attitude check or find another job. You cannot be rude and still make a sell. I plan to call back and get the manager to express my sadness at the quality of the staff. (Note this review is not a review of the dr or their staff. The sales lady flat out lied to myself and husband. My husband picked out two pair of Rayban frames, the sales lady said and reiterated several times to us both that Rayban requires their lenses when purchasing Rayban frames- which was about $200 more expensive for both pair of glasses. We didn't question it, why would we ever in a million years think she would flat out lie to us? Well, little did this particular sales lady know, our teenage daughter had an appt 2 days later, and also picked out Rayban frames and the sales lady helping her did not make her purchase the "required" Rayban lenses. I noticed when I was reconciling receipts a few days later. So when they called my husband to come pick up his glasses the same day, we asked the manager about this so called requirement, she confirmed non Rayban lenses can be put in Rayban frames. We then proceeded to tell her that the sales associate flat out lied to us saying it was a requirement (the sales lady was working and when she overheard our convo found some busy work in the back room- shame on her) and told her how unhappy we were that we were taken advantage of and requested the lenses be replaced with non Rayban lenses and a refund for the difference. We got our money back, but disappointedly, the manager was not apologetic in any shape or form. Awful right, to be swindled by greedy sales people at a store you've been loyal to for years. Not to mention this has to be insurance fraud. Well it doesn't end here. Two days later, my daughter goes to pick up her glasses,(we didn't tell her about the issue we had) and when she tries them on, everything is blurry and she tells the lady helping her (we are 99.9% sure it's the same sales lady that lied about the Rayban lenses) and her response is they might seem a little blurry at first, she'll need to give her eyes time to adjust. My daughter reiterated that she can't see well enough to drive in them, very blurry. The lady kept rudely dismissing her, insisting everything was right, basically saying the glasses were fine and she just needed to give them time. My daughter was very upset at the way she was treated, and left without the glasses after she had to keep insisting something was wrong, asking for the doctor to recheck her prescription. She called me after she left, asking if she could go somewhere else where they will listen to her and not make her feel like she's crazy/ stupid. We are done with Target optical, I'm very disheartened and disappointed at the service we've received here. I love Target, we are in there at least twice a week, but this type of customer service I can't tolerate, I don't like feeling like I've been taken advantage of, lied to, and made to feel like we don't know what we are talking about. We will gladly take our hard earned money elsewhere. read more

I would give 100 stars to Target Optical in Shreveport, if I could. First, let me say that I have a serious "eyeball phobia". Even though I've been wearing glasses for 20+ years, it still grosses me out to have exams, and my eyes are extremely sensitive to light and air. Don't even get me started on the thought of touching my eyeballs or putting eye drops in - blecchh!! Dr. Troup was amazing! He put me at ease and was gentle, patient and thorough. I would highly recommend him to anyone of any age. Dr. Troup made my anxiety disappear with his soothing voice, calm demeanor and life stories. I felt like I was visiting an old friend. I had an excellent experience at the eye doctor for the first time in my life!! In selecting eyeglass frames, the optician Tre Mack was incredibly helpful and informative. Tre's knowledge and expertise helped me select the best frames and lenses for my strong prescription, and he explained each option in detail. My eyeglasses came from the lab in total perfection and I could not be more pleased. I had some issues with the sunglasses I ordered, and they had to be sent back twice. With Tre's help, I finally selected a different frame, hoping it was perhaps the size or curvature of the lens causing distortion. Success on the 3rd try! Obviously, that wasn't the Optical Department's issue, and had to do with their lab. Anyone who has been wearing a high index prescription for a long time, understands the complexity of finding just the right size lens to accommodate your needs and Rx. Tre Mack made the experience pleasant, apologizing repeatedly for the lab's error. He stayed on top of my order and made sure I was notified immediately when my glasses arrived in the store. His attention to detail, kind personality, professionalism and optical knowledge made what could have been a very frustrating experience an enjoyable one. He is the epitomy of 'Service with a Smile'. I considered the three major local options for a much-needed eye exam: WalMart, Vision for Less and Target. There might be others, but those were the ones I knew about. I went with Target. I will explain below why I did not choose Vision for Less. (note 1) I chose Target over Walmart because when I called Walmart I could not get consistent answers about pricing and discounts. I did when I called Target Optical. Krispen, the associate who took my call, answered all my questions with professionalism and clarity. She really decided it for me. The optometrist, *Dr. Shanks,* was genial and accommodating. I will say that Target needs to give him a larger exam room! No need to worry about hard sells or anything like that from him. The two associates I worked with were both were excellent: Tre and Tricia. *Tre* is very cool and mild-mannered. He's a lot younger than me and I imagine if he wasn't wearing that ugly red Target shirt he'd be in something very stylish. He's the guy you go to for fashion advice. I'd add that he has endless patience as well. For the latest trends and for matters that require discretion and tact, Tre is whom you want at the table. When I had to go back in for a minor adjustment I worked with *Tricia*. She is probably closer in age to me and her sensibilities are closer to mine for that reason. She knows what she's doing. If Tre is a bit shy, Tricia is more direct. Both of them excel at customer service. I felt like I was in really good hands. Along with Krispen and a fourth associate Judy, those were the four associates I saw in action. All were very professional and amiable at all times. The store got crazy busy while I was there, and I was there for... a while, in the afternoon and evening, on two separate days. If anyone came in with a complaint, it was handled discreetly. I saw none of gossiping or casual behavior that one sees in businesses around here. If Target has one shortcoming it is that the Optical department is not as big as the other two local franchises. It more than makes up for the size differential in customer service. (The store will order for you frames in other colors that they do not stock in-store but that Target sells.) A final note-- what I paid in 2012 for Coach frames/progressive lenses with insurance is the same in 2016 without insurance. I wonder whether insurance is worth it, given the decline in the price of prescription glasses. Note: 1) Vision for Less does not actually sell vision for less. The showroom has a lot of high-end glasses more appropriate to Fifth Avenue than Texas Avenue. The Youree location has all the charm of an ER waiting room on a Saturday night. I popped in one early afternoon, to find half a dozen customers waiting on a bench for I don't know what. Even the kids sitting there looked like they were resigned to wait forever. I couldn't figure out the system. I tried to get the attention of someone at the front desk to ask, but no one even looked up. I am not sure why no one was even browsing the frames. Worst experience and I would not recommend this business to my worst enemy. I was told my first time comming two years ago my old doctor had my perscription backwards in my glasses so I got new frames and paid for old frames to get the lenses perscription corrected. I started having headaches I asked the optometrist the next month when I bring my daughter in , I was told I had to get use to new perscription cause I been wearing it backwards .. I was in there two days ago now I was told that the optometrist had to check my eyes twice and my prescription is backwards and that I have pay to fix it myself cause I had to complain in 60 days.. So my perscription never was backwards from day one they was fine!!! And I didn't have to get new frames nor pay extra to get old frames to get fixed. The manager was rude and walked off, she didn't even ask if I even complained or what the problem was or anything she had a horrible attitude so I took my perscription and walked out with the lady I brought with me to use them as her family eye care... I would bring me and my two daughters 60 miles out to this eye clinic to be treated with this disrespect. We will take our business elsewhere and I will take the others who I recommend to leave also!!!!!!!!!! Nobody deserves to be treated this way!!! read more
