I've been to this Target a few times during my visits to San Diego. I will admit that I'm a bit disappointed that this Target isn't as well stocked or organized as other Target stores. There has been an occasion or two where I wasn't able to find certain products on the shelves because they were gone. I very much appreciate the precautions tht target has put into place (having customers wait outside for limited capacity and wiping things down) HOWEVER, that silly, for lack of a better word, line by the shoes to "regulate" where customers go to pay is SO pointless. Forever have i used the self check out line to pay for my own items, usually less than 5 items i buy at a time and I literally finish in 30 seconds. There is No sign or anything on this side of the store telling one to "check in" by the line by the shoes. After waiting close to 10 minutes in that self checkout line today, 2 different associates brought it to my attention, and the 2nd one rudely made me get out of line to start from the back on the other side. (I was in there around 2:10 today) Even after stating i was on my lunch and even though i was next to pay! They could not even let it off with a warning for next time and be Kind enough to allow me to pay and leave. That being said, that line to "direct" is 100% useless and the more i think about it the more i do NOT understand the point of it or how its helping with the covid situation or with any type of social distancing/sanitation. If anything, there's always more than 10 people bunched up in that line over there! NOT distanced from themselves. My point is, there are 2 lines, one self checkout, one for regular lanes. Please Dont fix wht isnt broken! I work in the mall and will opt to walk a few extra steps to Wal Mart moving forward. Oh Target, how I love thee? This is perhaps the best Target in San Diego. It's two levels of cash-saving, one stop shopping goodness. You can enter from about 4 entrances, so you can plan your attack accordingly. Target has always had a great selection of items for really great prices. Of course, you could walk over to the Walmart and save a nickel or two, but for years I stayed away from Walmart because I didn't agree with their business practices (Now I'm okay with it, sorta). I've been shopping at this target for years. I remember when the escalators were facing the other direction. What I enjoy most is the electronics section, which is featuring more and more Blu-ray titles everyday. On a good sale day, you can buy DVDs pretty cheap. Sometimes as low as $5 bucks. I also shop for cheap food for my office--you know, because I'm basically a glutton. The oatmeal cream cookies are less than $2 for a dozen. You can't beat that. The generic brand "Market Pantry" also provides you with cheap Lucky Charms knock offs. Overall, shopping at Target always seems to work out for me. I never have any problems at this Target. It's not ghetto like the Mission Valley Target, and it's not lame and small like the other one story Targets. As far as Targets go, this place is as good as it gets. read more

This Target is convenient for people living in La Mesa, or for passer-byers on the 8 through La Mesa. Other than that, it's your normal Target. It is really big inside. There are lots of spots to park at. The only gripe with the parking is on one side, it's awkward because there is a one way street, which you have to loop all the way around to exit the lot. read more

A cashier, with her isle light on, literally watched me take everything out of my cart and place it on her conveyor belt and then told me I needed to put all my items back in my cart and move to another register because her isle was closed. I mentioned that her isle light was on and she argued saying that it was "not on" and that I "should have looked"... Then she proceeded to tell me that it's their policy to close when someone is applying for credit due to privacy (which I later learned from the store manager is incorrect). The fact that she watched me upload every single one of my items before telling me she was closed was very rude. Before speaking to the store manager, the floor supervisor disputed that one of my items on sale was not actually on sale. I tried to explain to her that I read the sign that clearly stated that this item was included in the sale. She argued and had someone check who confirmed I was correct. After being treated this way by the cashier and the floor supervisor, I felt I needed to advise the store manager. (Mind you: I have never ever even contemplated having to report any customer service issues in any department store). The store manager was very polite and thanked me for the information. The store manager assured me my concerns would be addressed, and was very apologetic. If not for the store manager's reaction - I would NEVER return to Target. read more

I love Target, and I just don't get enough of it living in San Francisco, where there aren't any in the city (blasphemy!). I came here to Christmas shop, and was so pleased that most of their selection was not picked over, despite the fact that it's a mere few days before Christmas. I was able to, as usual, find something for every person on my list, from my mom, to my grandma, to my husband. Everything was so affordable, as usual! I also found a couple great gift ideas as I was browsing the aisles, which is always welcome for those people who are tough to buy for. I also have tended to always believe that Walmart is significantly cheaper than Target, but this was not the case (at least not for canned dog food)... Target was only 1 penny more for a can of dog food! It made me happy to realize that, as I really dislike Walmart for everything except their prices. As I went to check out, with gifts for three different people, the cashier was so friendly, helpful, and patient. She ensured that I had adequate gift receipts for everything I needed and was not frustrated, despite my needing several different gift receipts. And, when my credit card was declined (don't you love when the credit card company decides there's fraud on your card when you've actually been spending LESS than usual??) she was very subtle about it, and I easily swiped another card. I appreciated that, as even though it wasn't my fault and the card wasn't maxed out or anything, it can still feel embarrassing. It was a very nice experience. read more

I go through withdrawals if I haven't gone to this Target at least once every 2 weeks. This is by far my favorite store PERIOD in all of San Diego simply because I can buy almost any and everything my gluttonous heart desires. That includes clothes, make-up, shoes, detergents and cleaning supplies, EVERYTHING! I do almost all of my grocery shopping here. Frozen food wise, they're items are about $0.50 - $1.00 or more cheaper than Vons. At the end of this month they'll be expanding to include produce (YES!) So I doubt I'll be utilizing Vons whatsoever in the near future... read more

I purchased a apple product online and explained to the guy in electronics I didn't have identification what can I do to get my product he said I could go online and add a alternative person to pick up with Id...I hung up and called again and talked to a girl named Sarah at guest services and asked the same question and she told me the same thing the guy from electronics said I asked to speak to someone higher than Lindsay because I had just left the store and she was very rude...I end up talking to a manger she gave me a name I explained to her what had happened and how I just got off the phone with different people and they both told me the same requirements for pick up but the manager by the name Lindsey didn't wanna give me the watch I PURCHASED and was very rude so then she tells me she is actually Lindsey and said "I already told you what you have to do to get your watch it's been our policy for a while now and all our employees know that" apparently not everyone knows the policy cause two people told me the same thing and Lindsey told m otherwise...and told her she needs to explain the policies to her employees because obviously not everyone knew them she started being very rude, unprofessional and talking over me with a attitude and hung up on me. Idk how target is letting someone like Lindsey mange their store with so much unprofessionalism and making the company name look bad. Not to mention I seen a few recent complaints about a manger being rude. I wouldn't be surprised it's the same manger I'm speaking of. I followed it up with corporate about Lindsey behavior and unprofessionalism as a manger and Corp stated that the what Lindsey is claiming isn't true and I'm able to get my watch with a alternative person and thier proof of Id and my confirmation number. What is happening in the world where company's have to create ridiculous stuff up to get more money in their pockets. The $5.00 gift card is NOT a (Credit to be used at your next purchase visit) You are actually purchasing a $5.00 gift card for yourself why would anyone do this? Ahh no one!! Target is misrepresenting this at the time of check out, they have trained their staff to say you are eligible for a $5.00 gift card for a credit off of your next purchase WOW what a scam. I was at Grossmont yesterday and I told the cashier to stop and not to ring me up for that that I did not want it her reply was who doesn't like a credit exact words, as she rang it up and said it could not be reversed. I was so pissed off, I left so I could calm down. It is not about $5.00 it is about the lie and someone forcing me to purchase a $5.00 Target gift card that I didn't want. I called Grossmont Target today and all the customer service could say is that there system automatically adds the $5.00 gift cards and there is no way to reverse it was it is added on. So Target if forcing everyone to spend the additional $5.00 whether you want to or not (if you are extremely busy and stressed you wouldn't even notice the $5.00 etc). WOW what a scam to get your money, some may say this is silly but $5.00 x millions of people sure is making Target wealthy. I know I am only one person that will no longer shop at Target and they know this so they don't care about this post. Because I not bought my item AT THIS LOCATION, I was told my return could not be made here. i was sent to the store of the receipt. (sports arena) When I went to Sports Arena store, they were not as strong against what Grossmont said -- VS the Target phone customer service commenting to me. (?was it the mood of the personnel; how long they been working there? ETC. Grossmont verified to me --- via MY THEORY -- that Target is not the same as making a return at a large name grocery store. Where a customer can choose another location to return, etc. The "Manager" who was called @ Target Grossmont was too young to be a "manager." As why I not relied on what he told me. He was speaking so quik, as just to get another customer out of his way; of of that store. LOVE this Target! I do wish they would stop changing the layout! lol It's great that they added a small grocery. I was nicely surprised at how fresh the meat and fruits/veggies were. Saves me a lot of trips to the grocery store. Their Jamba Juice is not really like the Jamba Juice in the mall. But if you are desperate, it's ok. Due to the Corona Virus, and my compromised situation, I've not been out of the house for six weeks other than to wait in the car. Today, I venture out and placed my grocery list online. It was fabulous to be order to see exactly what I wanted for a change. I picked out my items, paid and within 2 hours, it was ready. I drove over and was in and out in 5 minutes. I just want to say my last Target visit, located at the Grossmont Mall was a very pleasant time due to the very attentive staff and well maintained store. When I visited, a young man controlling the line made sure to keep all shoppers distant while waiting in line. Since I had a cart and was ready to check out, I realized I forgot a product, and it was downstairs. I did not want to go all the way downstairs with my full basket of products when I just needed 1 item. I asked the young man controlling the line if he could watch my cart as I quickly run down. He was very supportive and told me to put my basket in line 2 to the side and he would keep an eye out. So as soon as I came back up, he then directed me to a shorter line to get me in and out, without having to wait in line, so a big shout out to this guy for getting shoppers in and out safely social distance. Then to top off my experience, my cashier, Breeann, I believe her name was; she was very kind and gave me great customer service. She even scanned my items through the Cartwheel app to make sure I was getting my savings. She did this without me asking. The whole time she made my visit personable and her kindness will never be forgotten. Sweet young lady; so sweet where I'd travel all the way to Grossmont again from Bonita to see her. read more

Worse target I've ever been too so far. In the photo section they have kiosk that "supposedly" have 4 machines that should be working. WRONG.. two were broken and had most of the the cords were broken. As a paying costumer you can go in and do not have to bother the staff obviously on a busy holiday and print out pictures or invitations with your choice of design etc. In my case wedding invitations that needed to be done and printed at least on the same day but that went completely wrong as soon as we stepped into target. Everything was a mess, staff standing around costumers not being helped that staffed didn't know where anything was etc. 30min later standing there cramped next to other costumers, We finish and get a receipt that is hardly legible but the lady assured us that in 30-40minutes she'll be able to pull it up from our name or telephone. We wasted 45min waiting to see our printed wedding invitations JUST TO HAVE THEM TELL ME "Our machines haven't printed special cards for 2months now and we're getting rid of the machines anyway". It has already been a long day and I ask for a manager to better explain my situation. The employee standing around decided it was professional enough her working for target and me being the "guest" of target rolled her eyes at me while calling the manager over the radio. Though we were not the only ones that had this problem it wasted my time tremendously and I'm disappointed at target employees and the manager who helped with nothing today. I have been waiting to write this post for a while... first off this SHOULD be a 5 star review... this Target is always clean, well stocked, fast lines and never too crowded. All reasons to come back right?? Not if you are a person of color SPECIFICALLY black people. I have witnessed with my own eyes undercover guards following other black shoppers around the store. I myself have been followed 8 out of 10 times I come here... up the stairs, down the stairs, all the way to the door. Today I witnessed 2 younger "guards" following a black man who came behind me in line... they make it seem like they are "working" and "cleaning" around your immediate area but in fact they are watching you... if your skin is black! The two guys stood around until the black man checked out and one of them said "ok I think were done here" as to say "ok he didn't steal anything we can go follow other black people with full time jobs who just want to browse and shop at Target just like everyone else"... I keep coming back because it is honestly a nice store but I can't continue to feel as if I am some kind of criminal! Shame on you La Mesa Target... Target is one of my favorite department stores. They having nearly everything for sale nowadays! This location is in the Grossmont Shopping Mall. It's one of the larger stores in San Diego but without as much foot traffic as other high volume stores (or at least, you don't feel like you're in a crowded store). Customer service is friendly though usually aren't helpful unless you ask for it. Product selection is nice and tend to always be in stock here. And of course, the prices are great! You get what you pay for at Target! I would like to see customer service interact more with customers. Employees tend to just walk past you without even acknowledging your existence. It's a common trend I find in most Targets. Overall, this Target is a great place to shop. Definitely check it out if you're in the area! read more

So, my wife just went to Target with a great deal from her Cartwheel app for diapers. While trying to check out the cashier repeatedly asked if she wanted a target card. Repeatedly she told her no. What a pain in the ass to have to keep telling a cashier the same thing. Since the cashier couldn't let it go my wife got frustrated and forgot to scan her coupon for the diapers. Once she realized it the cashier couldn't do anything to help. Minutes later the so called "Customer Service" person handed her a piece of paper and told her to figure out what her savings would have been. Some customer service given. I find it offensive. Customer service decided that $10. was right. So she was given a $10. Credit. Less than half what she have gotten. I'm writing this because my wife asked not to go be mean to them. I don't think I'd be mean, but it would ask directly for the manager and clearly voice my opinion of the shitty customer service. I know someone from Target can reach out after reading this. Ok so I have to give some props for Target now that they are renovated. Everything seems to be super easy to find at this location. It's also not very busy, which is good. The everyday stuff is positioned towards the parking structure = convenient while all the mall type stuff is up front. They have all house related stuff and personal hygeine and food up stairs and all the clothing downstairs. So as far as arrangement it doesn't make sense. The house related stsuff that is heavy to carry or port around needs to be downstairs where those shopping for that stuff can pick it up last and be on their way out. I've been using the shop on line / pick up for years at this store. I really like the staff, always courteous and helpful. My experience yesterday was beyond amazing! They moved the pick up outside, so I didn't have to even wait in line, didn't have to go into the store (yea!). As I checked through my items I found a note on the trash bags stating the ones I bought were not in stock and they replaced them with an upgrade in value and count. um...i just bought probably the coolest thing ever with money! #1 its called "The Ninja" #2 Its a food/drink maker aka master prep #3 it rules in the kitchen I am so tired of chopping my vegetables! It just takes too long and I don't have a lot of time because it makes me even more hungry! ahhh I checked out Wal-Mart before hitting up target and their food processors weren't that great and were even more expensive than targets! And it was only $9.99 Next on the list was tuberwear!!! Now I like my food cold for some reason. Not really a fan of hot food. Apparently Target is remodeling and adding a market section? Awkward. And for some reason this one aisle where of course all the tuberwear was located was abnormally narrow. I like raped five people with my ass just trying to get by. Awesome. OK so this tuberwear. Perfect size! And it comes with an ice-pack that is apart of the tuberwear. $8.99 Holler ill take it. And it fits perfectly into the lunchbox. Jesus i am goooooooood! Came here because it said they had an item in stock, drove here 7 in the morning to wait 30 minutes in the cold to find out they didn't. The electronics manager refused to check stock on it and later when I called to complain the manager LAUGHED AT ME. i was so used to the old way this place was. i could tell you where anything was. anything. i didn't mind the aura of cheapness it gave off, it was quaint. i still get lost at times with the new set up, a lot of it doesn't make sense either, very disconnected. there are clothes down stairs and upstairs? waaaahhhh? one thing i could not stand during the remodel was every employee asking... I never shop at Target, but someone gave me a gift card, so I ordered online for local pick-up. I went to pick up, and it was not what I ordered. I had my online receipt showing a different item. The employee said something about "it has your name on it" (meaning that's what they pulled. Um, so? It's not what I ordered!). She said the receipt wouldn't be accessible for 24 hours, and come back the next day. Excuse me? I've worked retail over three decades, and you NEVER inconvenience the customer like that! Target is a great place to do your shopping, my wife and i like going to target, we can get everything we need, unlike WalMart they have so many people waiting in line and they can never shut up with the intercom, i hate that. My wife and I were having a perfectly great day until we went shopping at this Target. Everything went well while we were shopping. When we went up to the cashier, Matt, to check out, he told us he was closed. We moved on to the next cashier and we observed that he helped the next customer that was behind us. I called him on it and he said that he was only helping her because she had been in another line waiting. Ok, so we accepted that reason. He then proceeds to help other customers in line behind her and again I commented about the line not being open. He then, sarcastically, tells me that, now, he is open! I do not think that that is good customer service and that a cashier should not pick and choose which customers to help. He is not an asset to the company because he does not represent it in a professional manner. His manager should talk to him and send him to some type of training to review customer etiquette. Really nice neat clean Target with great parking. I usually end up parking in the garage, look for price of items I need in Target, then take a nice healthy walk to the WalMart to buy similar stuff cheaper there. If WalMart doesn't have it or isn't cheaper I can revisit Target on the way back to my car. read more

Yesterday my husband and I went Christmas shopping at this Target and are happy that we did. We had many questions for Matthew in the electronics department who helped us decide on the best computer game options for our grandson. He was informative and respectful.
