ZERO stars for Homeworks. If this was a publicly-traded company, I would short the stock…read more My Homeworks saga has been going on for more than a year. They were hired to upgrade an electrical panel and install and heat pump hot water heater. From the beginning, there were some red flags. The wrong team (insulation) showed up for an energy audit for HVAC services. I was sent a quote intended for another customer - and it took over a week of back-and-forth with three people to get the right quote. Still, I signed up because I've had some sub-optimal experiences with small contractors, and the larger Homeworks organization appealed to me. I was also buying the convenience of one-stop shopping for MassSave and Heat Loan processing. Big mistake. One year update: 1) Heat pump hot water heater does not work. 2) I have been bounced-around to numerous people. In total, at least 20 people have been involved in the installation of the hot water heater. 3) I ended up directly managing the subs on the project (plumbing and electrical). This was done out of necessity, not preference. 4) A final electrical inspection was done, and then re-scheduled twice because the electrician didn't have a process for accurately recording project inspection status. 5) I am convinced that decarbonization/electrification efforts in progressive states like Massachusetts will fail if my experience is at all indicative of what it's like trying to replace gas-fired equipment. I should note that the quality of the work performed, once it was performed, was quite good. The issues with Homeworks are less about the work done in the home and more about the people working in the office. This company is in desperate need of restructuring, overhead reduction, and a stronger focus on operations. It would be a good business school case study. If you can find good contractors, I recommend hiring direct and navigating rebates and Heat Loan financing on your own. Avoid the Homeworks morass if you can!

I contacted them to modify the work and spoke with my account manager. I asked him to modify the quote to include fiberglass batts instead of blown in insulation and remove the insulation of the knee walls as part of the project. He never got back to me before my scheduled insulation date so I had to push it out until September. I then called and talked to him again after tying a few times and he promissed to send me the modified quote again. Once again he never sent me anything and we missed the September date. I called to modify the date again to December 11 and asked for the quote to be sent and I got no response. Left several messages but there was no response. I finally got in contact with the guy who did the home assessment and he sent me the original quote back to me. I asked him to tell Lionel that I needed him to call me. He never called. The week before the planned insulation on the 11th I called several times to their reception and left my name and number and asked that someone other than my account manager call me back. I sent an email to the CEO asking for help. I specifically asked for the Insulation manager to call me. No one called. On the 11th (today) the technician showed up at my door to do the work. I turned him away and said that I do not want to do business with a company that can not figure out how to call me back after all this time. He showed me the paperwork and my number they had was one digit to short on the papers which is amazing to me as I had left my number several times and I had talked to people at the company. Now I am in a bind. I need to have the insulation work done by January 14th or I will lose my mass rebates. I really need to get this done but I have reached out to Mass Save and they have handed my account over to another company. Be careful signing up with this company. They are not capable of basic communications.

Chuck was extremely thorough, both in his verbal explanation of what he was looking at during the inspection and the detailed report he provided afterwards. Following the inspection, I must have called Chuck at least a half dozen times with follow-up questions regarding possible issues he had identified. He returned every call promptly (many times well after normal business hours) and was very patient with me as I tried to understand what we were dealing with. His administrator Charlotte was also a pleasure to speak with and very helpful in setting up the appointment and taking my messages. Home inspection companies don't get any better than this!

Chuck came out and did a great job with our inspection - very detailed, thorough, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. It made it a no-brainer when we decided to sell the house and buy a new house in Attleboro. Our second Jigsaw inspector was Mark. He was at least as thorough as Chuck. We arrived slightly late for the inspection and Mark arrived early, so he had already perused the outside of the house and taken good notes. There were even areas that are outside of the scope of a normal home inspection that, while he didn't technically 'inspect', he made note of what looked sound and what we may want to pay particular attention to. We received a very detailed report with pictures, recommendations, and approximate time we have left before something may need repair or replacement. Because I don't plan on moving any time soon I don't want to hire Jigsaw again :) However, if I did need an inspection or if I ever hear of anyone who does, I will not hesitate to recommend them. They're great. No upselling, no BS...just a straight up professional home inspection by highly qualified people.

I have been dealing with this company for almost two years now and have had nothing but one bad…read morecustomer experience after the next. I made the mistake of signing up at their booth in Home Depot and have been paying for it ever since. It all began with signing up in October and being told that my system should be installed and running by May just in time for peak production season. After I signed all the paper work I never heard anything back. Finally last July I contacted them and after Several attempts managed to speak with someone who informed me that my project had gotten "Lost". They expressed their deepest regrets and apologies and told me I would be fast tracked as a VIP account. Which apparently meant another 5 months of waiting. So I finally did end up with Solar Panels in December 14 months after I had originally signed up. Fast forward 2 months to February and I have water damage all over my living room ceiling. After I contacted them they were very prompt about sending out someone to take pictures and then a few weeks later another person showed up to take pictures. Fast forward a few more Months to July and no one ever came back to actually fix the problem. After an email and multiple phone calls I have been told that nothing was done after the pictures were taken and that they in fact never actually did anything with the pictures so they are now going to need to send someone out a third time to take pictures. So while I would say that Solar panels are a worthwhile endeavor do not use NRG. I recommend to all my friends that they use any company they can find but them.

Met the sale representative and every looked good so we signed up. That was august, the panels were installed free on October and now its January 2015 and they are not turned on. Sent emails and made calls and finally spoke to a Rep at base head quarters in Houston , TX. The local building inspector is all set, local utility company is all set. The only missing is that the paperwork at the headquarters has not been completed. August to Jan.... I have not paid a thing to this company as i have no bills. But it seems that the solar panels are generating energy that is going to someone. Just saying, do not be in any rush dealing with this company. Steve Vayo Grafton, MA
