I was having a problem with down draft after 1st storm in March. So I bought a wind resistant chimney cap. I called Brian at Safe Sweep Chimney and told him about my problem, to see if he could take a look down the liner, make sure I had no creosote build up contributing to my down draft and to put on the new cap. We were getting another storm the next day. So Brian said he would come that day, take a look in my chimney with his camera and get my stove running so I would be warm in case we lost power. So Brian showed up with Chris the next day right on time. Both of them so nice, so professional. The original cap looked like Cat in the Hat, all crooked. Brian had to cut the liner to make it look right. He definitely takes pride in his job and does the job right. And the camera is an awesome tool. I've had many chimney sweeps come here. About 3 weeks ago we called Sate Sweep about a chronically leaking old chimney and were amazed when Brian, the owner, answered the phone himself! We texted pictures and he came out the next day to see it. He took pictures, explained the problem clearly and told us he what he proposed to do to fix it. Within a couple of days he came with his guys fixed the cracks ,mortar , sealed it , repaired the crown as well as installing a cap. I contacted Brian after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp and I am so glad I did. We have been in our house on the Cape 21 years and this year I noticed water damage on my inside wall directly attached to the fireplace. I called Brian and he came out to the house in less than a week and explained that my chimney was retaining water which was leaking inside. He gave me options and then worked with me to find a perfect solution. When he came to the house to seal my chimney he also noticed an open area beside the chimney which he also sealed. Brian and his son were terrific to work with. He initially came to the house to assess the situation. I was getting water into the hearth when it rained fairly hard. Brian pointed out cracks in the outside brick and inspected the top of the chimney from the roof. He informed me of everything he wanted to do to fix the leaks. Brian and his son came back over two days when there was a window of good weather. Brian was very professional and took his time in repointing several areas of brick and making several other improvements to the chimney. We recently had Safe Sweep Chimney clean and inspect the chimney for our fireplace and coal stove. We were able to get an appointment right away! They were very professional and took great care to keep the area clean. Upon inspection, they found that inside both our fireplace and coal stove, the chimney was not sealed against the wall. This would have allowed the possibility of a spark to travel into the wall and cause a fire. So grateful they brought this to our attention and were able to fix it during the same visit. The first time Brian and his son came to clean our chimney he noticed right away that the people who removed our wood stove had left the opening in the front covered with only a tin plate. Knowing that it was a hazard he filled it with cement. He recently came and was able to remove a faulty damper and came back in a few days to replace it with a better one. I recently worked with Brian to try to troubleshoot issues I was having with creosote buildup in my wood stove pipe. We had a full pipe blockage and we are trying to troubleshoot root cause and determine what needs to be changed with the stove pipe and setup. Brian was excellent! Brian is great! He came the day and time he told me he would. Very professional, him and his crew took there shoes off before coming inside. They put down drops to protect the floor. After completing the sweep I was provided with a video showing me exactly what was cleaned and how bad my chimney was.
