If your sole purpose for going to target is to check out their dollar spot (bc for some folks it is..), then the Fairfield location is not for you. Sadly, it is consistently picked thru /messy /and just empty. In the last few years I've seen it stocked maybe twice. However if you're shopping for clothing, home supplies, groceries, or decor then this store will do. Shelves are generally stocked, there are some good staffers you just have to search them out. The toy section is especially good.. they've got some stuff here that isn't at the Riverdale or Parsippany locations. Parking can be a bit treacherous as cars go thru like they are still on the highway.. so just be on alert. There is also a huge flood zone in the parking lot when you exit to rt 46. Another thing to be cautious of if it's raining. Overall this isn't the worst Target around and i stop by often-ish on my way home. but it's definitely not the best.. and I'd recommend driving a little farther to one of the other stores in the area. read more

store is messy, kids clothing selection (outside of infant/toddler) is extremely limited, i never find anything i am looking for here. Used to love shopping at target for anything/everything. Now I look for anywhere else I can get what I need since they started allowing ICE to stage operations in their parking lot. read more

Target advertising for Black Friday that they have 100 bags that are reserved, and handing the customers numbered tickets, out r numbers were 13 of 100 and 14 of 100, when they got to our numbers they claimed that they ran out of bags and handed us some stupid $10 gift cards after waiting hours in the cold since 3 am by the door. Target had no respect to people of any age nor medical conditions. Target False advised for something doesn't even exist just to drag people to their store and makes bigger sales built on false advertisement. Target brings the price way higher on Black Friday and the rn gives discount that is still higher than the original price before Black Friday. The employees were awful, rude, and condescending. At first, no one was at the counter to help. When employees finally came, David completely ignored me--he acted like I wasn't even speaking to him. Later, when I attempted to return my pickup, Jaime was extremely condescending, insisting I needed the app, only for it to turn out that her scanner wasn't working. Instead of apologizing, she grew frustrated and began throwing items around very rudely. The lack of professionalism and respect was shocking. Target should seriously address the behavior of these employees--no customer should be treated this way. read more

The service is awful here. Only 1 cashier was open with a very long line. I waited 30 minutes in line to pay since I had more than 10 items and could not use self service. Small store with great selection and very well stocked. The parking lot was a challenge, but it is manageable. They had 2 registers open and a bunch of self check out lines. There were two guys in the tech department selling AT&T phones. They were a bit annoying. I've never seen that at a target before. read more

I always think of Target like the Top Tier of department stores with their decent quality of merchandise and pretty solid return policy. Although the work force does have alot to do with the overall experience which differs from store to store. Some locations are pretty solid while others fall way short of the mark, or Target. In particular this Fairfield store finds itself somewhere in-between due to the simple fact that it always seems to be short on both supplies and gainfully engaged Employees. Add to that, long lines and short attention spans and it all culminates into a frustrating shopping situation from beginning to end. Other than that it's great.   If the Target here is 5 stars for customer satisfaction then this location falls 2.5 stars short of this. I'll round it up to 3 stars - cause that's the kinda dude I am. What the heck happened to this store??? Every time I go in there it looks like a disaster hit. The lines for self checkout and cashier checkout are always at least 6-7 people deep. I do have to give props to my recent visit - the line moved quickly. I was able to check out with a cashier in less than 4 minutes of standing on line. No one knows where anything is. The store is never fully stocked. It's almost like a consignment store trying to find things. I'll order online and it says that it's available in store but it's not. For the location and size this should not be happening. They have a large over night crew and it seems as though they are more interested in drama vs working. Staff is friendly and always willing to help. The new store renno is okay. I'm not sure why the buyers and management think it's okay to push "bulk" size items only? Granola bars, coffee, etc. Sometimes I don't want "24" of something or in these times, can afford it? Biggest complaint? My favorite Target is in Bridgewater (much larger, bigger selection - especially clothes) This one is ok. I was here for the Missoni fiasco. Was the first one in the door when they opened. Unfortunately, the staff there had never heard of Missoni, so they were not prepared for the hoards of crazy women looking to get their hands on any pieces. I love having a Target so close to home however this location is SO disappointing. It is never stocked with anything- shelves are always bare no matter when I go. this target is in desperate need of employees . It gets busy and there's only one human cashier . then it's probably 5 self checkouts with no one monitoring so lots of line cutting and confusion. When it comes to Targets, I feel like this one definitely needs a lot of work. First of all, I feel like the shelves are always lacking. Whether it be food, clothing, or basically anything else, I feel like they are always missing varieties of what I need. The lines are insanity. They never have enough people on register. I've waited up to 30 minutes sometimes on line. They have a starbucks/food court area which is nice. But even they don;t know how to make a good starbucks drink. Started going to a different Target since this one always has staffing issues at registers. You'll find dozens of employees throughout the store but never an open register that doesn't have 4+ people waiting. Meanwhile staff members will see lines and walk right by. Does ANYONE clean or stock this store?! They have been out of the one type of frozen vegetables that I get for MONTHS, normally not a big deal but target is the only store that carries it. The aisles always look like a bomb hit it or the shelves look like a major snow storm just happened. I like this Target, but not as much as the one in Rockaway. Parking lot here is crazy and you're taking your life in your hands if you aren't paying attention - especially around Christmas. I stopped in here last week to do some last minute school shopping and it seems as if you get here in the morning, before the craziness begins, you can have a pleasant shopping experience. ... again?? I have avoided this location for a long time because the last experience was so terrible. I went in just for a simple bottle of Heinz chili sauce. ... pretty simple, right? Nope. Not only were they out of Heinz chili sauce, they had no chili sauce of any brand, only a couple bottles of ketchup, and barren shelves everywhere I looked. Without exaggeration, I tell you that it was so barren on all of the shelves that I actually asked a red shirt employee if this location was closing. Potato chip shelves were empty. End cap displays were empty. Entire cold cases were empty. 2 or 3 items left on shelves all around. Cereal shelves were empty. Spice shelves were empty. The giant wall rack with water bottles was almost empty. Push racks were empty. The few items that were left on many shelves were knocked over and left that way. Clothing display mannequins had no product on the tables beneath them to sell. Shampoo bottle racks were empty. Kitchen cleaning supplies shelves were almost empty ... And to top it off, the Starbucks location in that store was closing early because they were short staffed. It was one o'clock in the afternoon. I asked an employee who the regional manager was so I can contact them. He did a page to the manager with that question, and the manager never ever came over to me. Obviously, they did not want me to have that information. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for a store of this caliber to be this picked over and poorly managed.This falls on the shoulders of the management and the people who are responsible for inventory. It is very hard to go wrong at any Target. It remains the unexplainable money vortex that somehow fills your cart when you only went in to get some light bulbs and an extension cord. Next thing you know, you have a new set of towels, your kids have some new toys and at this particular Target, you end up with half of your supermarket shopping done. Your attempt to spend $7.23 always turns into a minimum of $75, but at least your cart is full. This Target has ample parking, is clean and orderly and has a solid selection of your typical Target fare. As mentioned, this one also has what amounts to 3/4 of a supermarket which makes the lure of one-stop shopping here even greater. It is in a beautiful location, and has great parking. I do have one gripe though. In the past, I have had serious issues with the customer service desk. They were rude, unhelpful, and nasty. I love this store, but I have to say, remodeling it is making it difficult for me to figure out which way I'm going half the time, so I hope they can pick a layout soon and stick to it. I'm very excited for the Ulta, since now there's gonna be an even wider makeup selection. My biggest problem is the long wait lines and the Guest Service counter. Everytime I go there's a long wait, and I have seen way too many GS employees standing around and talking when they should be working. I even witnessed one talking loudly with their companion (presumably about a customer, or perhaps another employee) instead of tending to the people standing within earshot waiting to check out. Other than that, the customer service is excellent. I do feel for the red-shirts pushing massive carts around, though. It looks like it can get exhausting. read more

I went there because Target.com showed they were the closest store that had a chair I wanted in stock. Not only did they not have the chair but the store was a total disaster! It was a mess and pretty disgusting. My first clue should have been when I went to get a cart and there was a dirty diaper in it.
