Decent target, it is clean and is virtually devoid of topical Walmart clientele. The employees are always very friendly and helpful when needed. I found the prices to be in an acceptable range for this area...I wish they would expand to a full grocer store so I can dump giant! read more

There's a reason previous reviews say this Target is less crowded than others. Because people don't want to go here. I mean... it's Target so you know it is decent, but it doesn't hold a candle to other locations in the area when it comes to service and selection. First of all, the organization of everything was a mess. A lot of damaged and half missing items... which I even ended up buying because I was desperate. I came looking for a pair of heels for a wedding, and found one that came without a box, price tag, or any kind of marking besides a red zip tie. The soles were marked up and the leather was worn in... basically, someone wore them and returned them. BUT!! They were the only ones left in that style for my fairly common size. And they've got a 5 inch heel yet were comfortable. Can you blame me?? Despite the cruddy condition... I was still charged full price... yep for some used shoes. Kind of sketchy in my opinion but I let it slide. Anyways, while I was in line, the check out person tried to communicate with the other check out person about something and they couldn't understand each other because of a language difference. It was so awkward to watch. When Check Out Person #1 asked Check Out Person #2 to give her something, Person #2 actually handed her paper to a random customer who was like "WTF what do I do with this" because Check Out Person #2 had no idea what Check Out Person #1 was asking five feet away, and Check Out Person #1 didn't know how to rephrase it to make more sense, so Check Out People and customers just stood there for a full awkward 30 seconds doing nothing feeling uncomfortable passing around a random piece of paper. Real story. Then, another employee started shouting asking everyone around what 15% of 60 was. If you can't figure that out on your own (break it up into 10% then add half) you need to go back to elementary school. Damn. Used stuff being sold full price and employees who can't communicate or use their 4th grade math skills. That's why people don't, and won't, shop here. read more

I really enjoy going to this Target location. The store is always clean, lines move quickly, and the mobility chairs are both charged & plentiful. The staff is extremely helpful and go above and beyond to assist you. They typically assist me locate/order items Target either doesn't carry or doesn't have stocked. This brings me to my next point... This Target's selection is tragically limited. I often find myself scurrying across the street to Walmart. read more

I've been shopping at this store on and off for 10 years now, and as of 7/3/19 I vowed never to go there again. Out of a quick shopping list of 7 items, I only found 1 in stock. There have been a lot of empty spaces on the shelves for the past few years, despite the fact that there are almost always restocking carts blocking the aisles. Even after the recent remodeling, a good amount of stock isn't where it should be or got put in odd places (e.g. toothpaste is in "personal care" not pharmacy). The place also always looks disheveled and poorly organized. I'm going to Potomac Yard from here on out; Hybla Valley has gotten just too frustrating. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Anyone who has driven down Route 1 wonders if they'll make it out alive, so, despite pretty decent reviews, I still had some doubts. This Target is very clean, well kept and organized. There are even managers DOING THEIR JOBS and ensuring customers get into the fastest check out lines! The staff was very helpful and accommodating, I think someone asked me if I needed help finding anything 4 times. Wow...I wondered if I had slipped into another dimension for a hot second. Target is very reasonably priced and doesn't have the chaos of a Walmart. I will forever been giving my business to Target from here on. Seriously, this store is spot on with what I expect being a consumer. It's clean, it's organized, and every employee I've ever interacted with has been either warm and friendly or super efficient. It has clothes, electronics, food, AND a whole four aisles of cosmetics. A few suggestions: 1.) If you go on a weeknight to purchase a video game, prepare to wait a long time to find an employee to unlock the case. 2.) The litter section in the pet area is decent but usually lacks the ONLY litter my darling calico will use (Fresh Step Crystals, in case you're the same) 3.) Getting in and out of can be a pain because of the thru traffic and the traffic exiting the parking lot across the street (the one with Panera). read more

This Target generally has lower prices that the Target store on Rt. 1 in Potomac Yard. For example, the Breyer's ice cream here was $3.49 while it was $4.09 at the Potomac Yard store. Not sure why -- differences in business taxes due to one being in Fairfax County and the other being in Alexandria City? I don't know. I don't like the way there is a smaller road that runs parallel to Richmond Hwy though. Whenever I turn into the Target store, I wonder if I'm supposed to yield to cars traveling along that road since I don't think there's a sign there. It'd be helpful if Target lobbied the county to place more helpful road signage there. read more

This Target has a great sales floor aesthetic. Every time I have shopped at this store, management has made sure that neatness counts. I have four reasons for giving it a one-star rating. No matter how aged your face looks and the number of gray and white hairs on your head, purchasing alcoholic beverages demands the presentation of a government-issued identification to the cashier at the check-out. After doing comparison shopping at Walmart, local drug stores, Dollar Tree, and regional grocery chains, just about all of the merchandise in the store is overpriced, which includes all the Target house brands (Archer Farms, Market Pantry, Simply Balanced and Up and Up). The refund policy is questionable. Even with the cash register receipt, a customer returning too much merchandise over a period of time gives Target the right to refuse a refund. So shop carefully and make sure that sure that anything you buy from Target is merchandise you don't plan on returning for a refund. The check cashing policy is a joke. Target's policy regarding the acceptance of checks for payment of merchandise involves finding a reason not to accept checks at all. read more

I like that this one isn't too far from the one on Jefferson Davis Hwy, but is significantly less crowded. It's organized like the one on Jefferson Davis. I had great service when checking out; I was in a line and someone came along redistributing the length of the lines so that I was checked out much sooner than I'd expected. read more

I just have to say - of all the Targets I've been to in the DC area, this is the best. It's almost always cheerful, clean, and never too crowded. Even when I pull up and think, "oh man, it's going to busy" - I'm almost always pleasantly surprised. The staff always are helpful, focused, friendly. Love this Target read more

I have worked for target on and off for years, I understand how it works. Clearly this team and store don't wish to do their job. I've heard horror stories about the store from mine but didn't think it's was true due to competition (not that anyone but Springfield really was a competitor with our store.) however - called about wrapping paper and asked to have it set aside. All wrapping paper is generally located in ONE isle during the holiday season. It's really not that hard to walk to the isle and say what's it look like and match it to the DCPI, I've done it year after year for guests. However I got an employee who told me "our wrapping paper is all over the store we can't track it down for you" I asked so your not even going to walk to the isle and look- "no but you can prefer it from online " I told you cannot order ANY wrapping paper online during this season and you can't even have in store pick up. Targets polices are not "I can't be bothered" clearly your sales and guest satisfaction are in the trash because of this lack of work ethic. Long story short don't expect them to look up anything for you. It's a waste of time. They have lower costs on products than neighboring stores? Of corse otherwise they wouldn't get guests. It's like a brand wal mart. You only go when you're broke and haven't any other choice. Looks like I'm going out of my way to find a specific paper. read more

Saw an item online that I wanted to purchase and this was the only store within a 100 mile radius that showed it in stock. I called the store and after a wait was connected to a human. First let me say that this person needs some customer service training. She was speaking with someone else and me at the same time. I gave her the item number and she supposedly looked it up. Went to this store just to get reminded why I mostly do shopping online and why I don't care if more stores gonna get closed down and more people gonna lose their job. Met with a rude staff who was trying to play with another staff who was trying to work. When I inquired to that not so busy staff, he looked at me as if I am disturbing him. How do you rate one Target versus another. I would imagine it's the location. Being nestled on Route 1 in South Alexandria is great for business. Before the NEW Wal Mart was built just north of here, these was the clean alternative to that filthy, disgusting Wal Mart further south in Hybla Valley. Now it fares nicely, but in rating it amongst the Targets that I have been to, I would certainly prefer just about any of the other ones. This trip was for cash because I didn't want to pay an ATM surcharge. I found some delightful Spiderman socks in the dollar bin (meant for kids, purchased for my feet) and some nice fun socks for only $2.50 a pair with skulls and sweet designs. Target is one of those places I like to walk around and kill time in, picking items up, and walking around a bit more and then returning to put it back. The socks were a solid score. read more

Unfortunately we live in a world where we can be profiled and discriminated against. Came into this location on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. Before coming in I made sure I referenced Target's return policy, along with calling into guest services. I had two items that I received at my baby shower. Both were packages were unopened and the items had yet to be used. While my transaction was in the midst of being processed, a store manager named Coley told me my transaction would not be approved. She referred to my items as high priced and exceeded the store threshold. When I asked for written documentation of the policy, she then informed me that this wasn't a written policy and she was using her discretion. Therefore, the only reason my return wasn't approved was because of something in my appearance that didn't sit right with Coley. I will not be returning to this location again, and highly recommend that the management team immediately attend some training in customer service. read more

It always seems as if when I want something specific, Target never has it. But they always have plenty of what I don't need. That said, this Target is always clean and the cashiers are friendly. They try to move customers along quickly, even to the point of using guest services for check out. And they always seem to run fairly good deals on DVDs. Unfortunately the downsides to this location outnumber the positives. They cater towards a certain, younger, crowd. A lot of the employees appear to be high-schoolers, and it shows in their general demeanor. Several of the employees seem more interested in socializing with buddies than assisting customers. While the quality of products sold here seem to be a little bit better than those sold at Walmart, you do get what you pay for. Furniture here is not long lasting, and packs of lettuce are sold wet and rot within a week of purchase. Organization is spotty, and selection is limited. In most cases, you are better off heading to Home Goods and the Giant. read more

It's always clean and they are really great about paying attention to when the lines start stacking up and getting more registers open. I can't remember ever having to wait for (what I would consider) an excessive amount of time to get through the line. On my last visit one of the employees here was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was checking out with my newborn and 2 year old who was crying. She rolled her eyes and told him to shut up. This behavior would have been considered out line coming from any adult who wasn't the parent of the child (even though I don't use this type of language with my toddler myself) however, coming from an employee it was just unacceptable conduct. read more

Love this target for all of their great clearance items! I've been to many targets, but this one always has so many clearance items. Got a floor lamp here for 20% of its original price and an ottoman for under $10 among other things. My only thing is that they never seem to have many registers open, so four stars. read more

On various occasions, the customer service simply leaves me on hold or transfers me until I give up. When you're with a pregnant wife that needs something right away or are unable to leave the house for very long, calling to verify in-stock items is very important. I think that this target location is rated too low. Target, in general, is nothing special and I think when you walk into this type of store, you should adjust your expectations accordingly. As compared to like stores (and the fact that anything is better than Walmart), I give this location 5 stars. Every time I go in there (yes. Every single time) I can expect to see a manager near the registers leading from the FRONT. Those managers are at the forefront of why this store runs as smoothly as it does. Whoever is in charge here, needs to be replaced. Last night I decided to take myself and my 1 year old Lola to grab a couple things before our beach trip this weekend. I spent an hour or so try to find a couple items, the clothes section was welll kept except clothes were not as organized as one would hope. Which is fine. Then I go to try on the three items I have. I get to the fitting room and two employees are chatting and I ask to try on three items. The First Lady says go head and the second come out and says I cannot bring the cart in.. store policy. It had nothing in it besides my baby. I've never ever been told this policy, what are moms to do?? Was I supposed to put my baby on the floor and try to make them sit there while your try on stuff? I've never ever been made to do this. This didn't make sense and she was very loud with me when I decided not to try on stuff. It was obvious she didn't want to be there and I had to suffer for it. Then on top of this the shoe department was a literal nightmare, a shoe explosion from hell. Shoes coated the floors and I had to run them over with my cart just to get out of there. You can't find anything! I've never seen a target this disorganized and unprofessional. There snack area was also so outdated and dirty looking. It seems this target has been forgotten for years, like many on the stores we have around here unfortunately. I hope they can turn it around. read more
