    Taco birria Birria

Ordered from here a couple of times! The breaded chicken torta is my favorite thing in their menu with some fries? TOO GOOD! Their queso-birria tacos are also worth trying. Great prices and good food for sure.

    Birria tacos x3 with consomme

A literal hole in the wall...but that's obviously where the best Mexican food comes from. I saw they had birria tacos on the menu which is the hip new thing du jour, and mainly found in Queens so I was happy to not have to schlep halfway across the city. These were the best tacos I had in a while and that consomme? *Chefs kiss* I spent an entire six month work pick working weekends at 225 Street station and now I'm kicking myself for not going here before now. Maybe I'll get 225 back again and this wrong will be righted, ha.

Was craving tacos so I decided to check this place out for a quick bite. A little hole in the wall, as other people say but I know those are the best gems. I got the carnitas (roast pork) and cecina (salted beef) tacos and I will say these were some of the best tacos I've tried here in NYC in a while. The meat was seasoned so well and I enjoyed their choice of toppings on them. I'd definitely order from this place again if I'm in the area. I want to try their other items.

Lunch in the Bronx calls for Mexican. With my work colleagues we called for takeout. The food was ready for pickup within fourteen minutes. I ordered the Bistec (steak with French Fries) $7.95 which was good. The meat was fresh as well as the veggies and served with sour cream sauce. The meat was not hard and not too chewy but a good consistency. The fries were not burnt nor overcooked. Price for wraps are reasonable. Upon pickup the staff were attentive and able to converse in English. Seating is very minimal and this business is located in a basement thus watch out for steps leading downwards.

The horchata roasted like Kool Aid, and I've had better Mexican food in the Midwest. At a gas station. So...I'ma pass...

Being…read morefrom California, I definitely missed the Mexican food scene, so I wanted to try Taqueria Tlaxcalli to taste a bite of home. When we entered, we were greeted with kind smiles from the ladies and they welcomed us to sit at any free table. Inside has lots of decor with ample seating. We sat and a server grabbed us menus. We got a carnitas burrito, grilled cactus side, horchata, and strawberry limeade (per her recommendation). Everything came so fast, and they even split the burrito for us! Oh my god, everything was so good. This has to be one of the BEST burritos I have ever had, comparable to the ones in San Diego. I love carnitas, and they do it so well here. It was tender, flavorful, just the perfect amount of sauce and seasoning! And the horchata was the best I have ever had too! The strawberry limeade was refreshing, and the grilled cactus was good! It was my first time trying it and it reminded me of aloe vera/okra texture. I had such a great time, such a great experience, I will definitely be back!

They have options for dining in or taking out and were quite efficient We went with a burrito and a few tacos - the burrito is massive, I would say it's meant for two people at once and filled with rice, meat, vegetables, thick flour tortilla and covered with different sauces - it is very heavy! The tacos are Mexican-style with meat and vegetarian options and were simply delicious. The meats we got - carnitas, steak, chicken were all cooked great with tender juiciness. They gave ample lime and sauces to pair as needed. Prices felt reasonable. Overall taqueria tlaxcalli had exceptional Mexican food for NYC with very good hospitality and dining options and I highly recommend! The tacos were a tier above my favorite NYC tacos - Santos, Los tacos no 1 and carnitas Ramirez.

I usually go to the Westchester Square spot as it's the location closest to my parents, but I've also been to their restaurant in Kingsbridge and (most recently) this one on Westchester Ave. The standard items one would expect to find at a Mexican restaurant are on EP's menu. What makes them stand out for me though, is the vast selection they have within each menu section and the quality of they food they serve. My usual go-tos are their burritos and tacos - they offer a variety of proteins to complement and they're always delicious. Outside of that, their soups are great as well as their nachos. I've only eaten in-house a few times; my standard is takeout and it's always ready by the promise time. Overall, Estrellita is a resounding yes for me; they are one of the best examples of quality and consistency, and I would always recommend them for good Mexican food in the Bronx.
