My wife and I are staying at the Mount Gilead State Park, and we wanted to go out to eat. Honestly,…read morethis is probably the best restaurant in Mount Gilead. That said, the interior is a little tacky and worn, but the food and service are terrific! My wife ordered a à la carte chicken enchilada and a side of rice while I ordered their shredded chicken taco and chicken tortilla soup. All four dishes were huge and delicious! I did need to add a little kicker to the salsa but all things considered, it was pretty good! The chicken tortilla soup had a huge amount of chicken in it, accompanied by fresh fried tortilla bits. Combined with the salad, it was more than enough for a wonderful dinner!

Editing to add that the food was amazing, and I'm so mad at my husband for not bringing me here sooner. Holy WOW!

I always sit at the bar and I ordered the Birria burrito with waffle fries and a side of chips and salsa (they give you a generous amount of chips). Chips and salsa came out fast and my order was 5 minutes after. Quick! Good flavor to the Birria brisket. The rice and beans all saturated in flavor. The consommé dip was equally impressive. The waffle fries!!! Nice crunch. I got this Jalapeño avocado dip side that was creamy , sweet and spicy. I ran the waffle fries and chips thru it. Lovin it lol. Washed it down with a 20oz Corona. Bonus that the waffle fries had a crunch all the way till the end. Total $26.29 plus tip. I left full and happy. Stop by and try them out for yourself. Try something different than the beaten path. You'll be impressed! Jay behind the bar is a solid dude!

I was very disappointed as the quality of the food has declined. I don't know how they did it but my food was virtually flavorless except for the burnt flavor of the steak and veggies in my fajita quesadilla. Customer service was pretty good, which is why I'm giving three stars. I am sad about the quality of the food and I was up with an unsettled stomach for much of the night.

They also mix the onions and cilantro together in a cup for you to put on the tacos. My cup had lots of onions and very little cilantro. When I asked for more cilantro they told me that it was pre-mixed. Very disappointing. They did have two outside tables for seating which was a plus. Who doesn't love the ghetto ambiance of dining? Probably not a place that I will frequent very often. Overall food was a 3 out of 5. They were super busy so they must be doing something right, just not with the Quesabirria tacos for me.

It's been three tries in a row now and it has SUCKED each of these tries. The first try - something just tasted "off." It was hard to describe. I ordered the supreme nachos and it it had the cream sauce I didn't ask for and it just tasted bad. They also didn't include the chips and cheese dip that I ordered. But like, I said, I was a faithful customer so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second try, it tasted SOUR. Like something was spoiled. Unedible. Today, I tried again. I ordered Rice, beans, sour cream, and guac. It literally looks like they THREW the beans on there and the cheese. There's no rice, and barely any sour cream. Cheapskating on the ingredients and not even including any. Don't order from here.
